Songsational Sundays

The road to happiness comes from following God's path

Rachel-Claire Cockrell shared her Brick Wall Prayer in a daily GodTube devotional post and I thought, WOW! Am I willing to pray such a prayer so bold as this or do I want the desires of my heart more?

I do want God’s will in my life over my own wants and dreams. I know whenever I’m following in His footsteps then there is more harmony in my world. He truly knows better than I want I need and at the precise moment I need it.

Jeremiah 29:11 reminds me, not that I need reminding, that God has a plan for me and while I do not understand everything I place my full trust in Him (Proverbs 3:5-6) because I know all things are possible (Job 42:2) with the Lord and when the timing is right (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8), my prayers will be answered.  If I’m patient to stay in God’s lane then he rewards me with happiness.

Today’s song found its way to my ear when I caught this verse…

My life I know it’s never really been mine
So do with it whatever You like
I don’t know what Your plan is
But I know it’s good, yeah

These words I will make apart of my daily mantra and what a purfect tie in with my thoughts for this Sunday! Be blessed, hear the call. Let Jesus be the pilot of your life!
They say
You’re the King of everything
The One who taught the wind to sing
The Source of the rhythm my heart keeps beating

They say
You can give the blind their sight
And You can bring the dead to life
You can be the hope my soul’s been seekin’

I wanna tell You now that I believe it
I wanna tell You now that I believe it
I do, that You can make me new, oh

I’m an empty page
I’m an open book
Write Your story on my heart
Come on and make Your mark

Author of my hope
Maker of the stars
Let me be Your work of art
Won’t You write Your story on my heart

Write Your story, write Your story
Come on and write Your story, write Your story
Won’t You write Your story on my heart

My life I know it’s never really been mine
So do with it whatever You like
I don’t know what Your plan is
But I know it’s good, yeah

I wanna tell You now that I believe in
I wanna tell You now that I believe in
In You, so do what You do, oh

I’m an empty page
I’m an open book
Write Your story on my heart
Come on and make Your mark

Author of my hope maker of the stars
Let me be Your work of art
Won’t You write Your story on my heart

Write Your story, write Your story
Come on and write Your story, write Your story won’t You write Your story on my heart

I want my history to be Your legacy
Go ahead and show this world
What You’ve done in me
And when the music fades
I want my life to say

I let You write Your story, write Your story
Write Your story, write Your story

I’m an empty page
I’m an open book
Write Your story on my heart
Come on and make Your mark

Author of my hope maker of the stars
Let me be Your work of art
Won’t You write Your story on my heart

Write Your story, write Your story
Come on and write Your story, write Your story
Won’t You write Your story on my heart

Write Your story, write Your story
Come on and write Your story, write Your story
Won’t You write Your story on my heart

I remember when I was a little girl I went to Catholic school and I was put in choir and most of the songs were in latin. I learned the songs in English first so I would know what I was singing and what the song was all about. It taught me the emotion/feeling of the song so I would know how to sing. When I did I lifted my head up to the Lord and I prayed in song. It was the only way I could learn and the Sister that taught us was impressed with my way of understanding the song even if I didn’t understand the words. If you don’t know the words to the song how can you know the story it’s telling. Your songs are always so meaning full Cat… you have very good taste in music. Just lift your head up to Lord and tell him what’s in your heart. Great choices my friend. Have a great week. Hugs

      Marie,

WOW, I’m impressed you learned songs in Latin as a kid. You were clever to learn the song in English first and you are so right if you don’t know what the words mean then how can you sing them in another? You just wouldn’t do the song justice. It would be words off your lips instead of beautiful melody to stir the heart.

I believe we decide what we want to accomplish in life before we are born. Whether or not we succeed is another story, but ploughing on is the best plan!

Most excellent thoughts and post. Scripture and music have provided me with the most comfort and strength over the past year and I find that Scripture set to music is often the best of all. I have learned the lessons of the apostle Paul in his letter to the Phillippians 4:11 to be content in whatever state I am in because even if the worst should happen, to die is gain and to live is Christ (Phillippians 1:21. Have a blessed day of worship & rest. See you tomorrow.

      Driller,

It’s soul refreshing to find solitude through mewsic and God’s word. This life is temporary. You’re right, if the absolute worse thing happens and our life is cut short then if we’re living in Christ here then we’ll cross into eternal life with Him. That’s where we should want to be.

Those sentiments pretty sum up well how I see things and eloquently done. I’ve often strayed from the path or wavered in my ways, but I’ve always tried to be heading in the right direction. God has taken care of me and I’m still here.
