Thanksgiving #humor, #CTST, & #FriendlyFillins
Purrs and hooowdys, Kittens & Dawgs! I debated on posting today but since DH is at work and most of next I’m spending with him then I thought I’d share a mixture of giggles with these Friday Sillies. Enjoy!
This week I went for my last dental post-op appointment for this year and while I was there I had the doctor fix my front tooth. The same place chipped again.
Early night fall makes me think the evenings are longer than they are and am more than ready by 8:30 to hit the hay.
I’m linking Skywatch Friday and if you’re here for a peek at this week’s contribution, kindly click here.
What are you celebrating? Today, I Celebrate The Small Things with Lexa. Today, I’m joyfully celebrating DD#2 & DSIL got moved into their new apartment in Brunswick, Maine on Tuesday after spending almost two weeks in a motel. I know they are more thrilled than me. I celebrate the age of technology all the more and thanks to text and FaceTime we can stay connected with them. Who knows we may become closer despite the distance that now separates us.
Switching gears, I’m rounding things out with these Friendly Fill-Ins hosted by the lovely, Annie and Ellen!
- I can’t wait to eat all the desserts on Thanksgiving. Speaking of desserts I found a really yummy cookie recipe at Ida’s place, Wishes, Dreams, & Other Things, and I made it just the other day and mmm, good!
2. My favorite kind of pie is pecan but I’ve grown to love pumpkin pie over the years which is especially good with lots of Reddi Wipp piled on top.
3. This year, I am particularly thankful for DH’s eye sight after such a scare earlier in the year with the detached retina.
4. A funny holiday tradition in my/our house is we don’t have one. Yeah, that’s sad, I know, but now I’m eager to read what everyone’s funny holiday traditions are….wait! there is funny tradition in my family. We don’t do it so much except I might if it crosses my mind but this is something my grandpa used to do every year and don’t ask me what it means because I really have no clue. Maybe, you know and can enlighten me. Anywho, he used to call us first thing or greet us when we walked into their home on Christmas by being the first person to say, “Christmas gift!” FYI, I found the why to this strange custom here if you’re interested.
That’s a wrap for now but I hope to see you on the dance floor for Thanksgiving/Thankful mewsic on Mondays Mewsic Moves Me!

YAYAY! I’m glad the kids got into their new home. I know they must be so happy about that!
I love those cartoons, especially the one with the pumpkin. haha
Thanks for sharing this recipe. I look forward to trying it out.
I am thankful that your DH’s eyes are doing better, too. The thought of losing sight is very scary.
I hope that you have a blessed weekend and a very Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy all the food, especially those desserts. 🙂

Suzanne,
Yes, definitely YAY! We were so happy that they finally got into their apartment. We did FaceTime on Thursday and DD#2 showed us their new place. They did an amazing amount of work in just a few days. There’s no way I would’ve had as much done as they did. They have a nice little place with plenty of room for the two of them and their furbabies. We’re getting frequent texts and pix to keep us connected with their new adventures. I believe DSIL begins his new position at Carmax today. I hope he has a good first day on the job! Thanks for visiting, dearie!

Cathy,
I’m glad that you are able to see their new place via FaceTime. Ahh to be young and full of energy. Those were the days, eh? haha How did the first day go for your DSIL? I hope it was a great first day, and that the rest have been great so far, too.
I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Have a blessed weekend, my friend. 🙂

Pecan cookies sound GREAT! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. To answer your question: it is a mast from a boat without a sail and is anchored in cement.
Morgan
The cartoons made me smile! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Cathy Kennedy
Morgan,

I had a couple of those cookies with my coffee this morning. I can see why you’re looking forward to them. Yummy.
Loved the video. That was fun.
Have a fabulous day. ☺

Funny! Speaking Bout Bluetooth, a few years back the receptionist told me my client was there (through messenger) and she mentioned he had a Bluetooth. When I brought him into my office, I was trying to see his blue tooth…hahahaaa. After, I told the receptionist and she just about fell off her chair from laughing. Now I’m so glad, given the health scare, that everyone is aok in your land. I’m thankful that my mom is still alive.
Cathy Kennedy
Birgit,
That’s good stuff! LOL Once ignorant of technology now made wise by one’s experience. 😀 Thanks a heap for sharing and for giving me a chuckle, my friend!

Great funnies, my friend. Ida’s cookies look so good! Yum! I am thnakful that DH healed, too. Yea! Well, that is an ususal tradition. Ours may be boring, but, it is true, too! I am very thankful for you, my friend. Please keep me posted on “things”. HUGS.
Cathy Kennedy
Annie,
I wouldn’t say your Thanksgiving traditions are boring because I like them, too! Well… not the dog show so much but I do remember watching it when I was a kid. The important thing is these things are important to you and Bill. We all can’t celebrate the same way or enjoy doing the same things. I know many don’t like football but I (we) do. I say, whatever traditions bring a family together then “Hooray!”, mission accomplished! I’m definitely thankful for my friends, bloggy friends especially!

Hi, Cathy!
I am drinking my morning coffee and getting a chuckle out of your Friday Sillies. My body clock has not yet adjusted to the recent time change, I get hungry for lunch at 8 or 9 am and hungry for dinner at 2 or 3 pm. Like you I am sleepy by 8-something in the evening.
I am happy to know your daughter and her hubby have settled into their apartment in Maine without any “Troubles.” I am sure you are correct that texting and FaceTime will bring you closer than ever before. Like you I enjoy pecan pie. Yesterday I got a commitment from Mrs. Shady to bake pumpkin pies on T-giving eve. We will be traveling across the state to her daughter’s house Thursday for T-giving dinner and taking the pies with us. I am very happy to know that DH’s eye is healing as it should.
I never heard of that Christmas Gift game. I have a great idea for a Christmas gift game and I might have shared it with you last year or the year before. “Everybody gets $10,000 for Christmas and everybody gives $10,000 for Christmas.” One family member gives $10,000 cash to another, places it right in his or her hand. That family member “pays it forward” by giving the $10,000 to the next person. The money changes hands until every family member experiences the joy of receiving and giving that large amount. Of course, the money winds up being given back to the original giver at the end of the game, but everybody “wins.”
Thanks for introducing The Holderness Family with their latest parody “All About That Baste.” I just came from their YouTube channel. They’ve been creating clever Weird Al style song parodies for five years and uploaded this new one for T-giving 2017 just yesterday:

Have a wonderful weekend, dear friend Cathy!
Cathy Kennedy
Tom,
Ooo, $10,000! I wouldn’t know what it’s like to hold that kind of money in my hands. Wouldn’t that be awesome to do, though? I hope you and Mrs. Shady have a good time at your stepdaughter’s on Thanksgiving. Hopefully, the pies will arrive without anyone nibbling on them before they reach their destination. 😀 Thanks for enjoying a cup of coffee with me this morning over a few sillies and thanks for sharing the newest Holderness YouTube video. It was great fun to watch!
Ellen @ The Cynical Sailor
The cartoon about bluetooth made me laugh out loud 🙂 Those pecan cookies look delicious.
Cathy Kennedy
Ellen,
Yeah, I thought the cartoon was purrty cute, too! The cookies are delicious and I highly recommend if you like baking to give them a try!
messymimi

Lee,
DH is woofing those babies down if that tells you how good they are. I kinda think they are pretty tasty, too. 🙂 I may have to make another batch.
