Good morning, Kittens and Dawgs! It’s fabulous to see you! Are you ready to groove to some mewsic? Our theme this week is songs about “Vehicles – Cars or Trucks or Boats” but we’re not finicky if you have tunes to share then we’re ready to boogie with you and we invite you step on the dance floor with XmasDolly, Stacy, Colette, and little ole me!
Our car (2003) is reliable and getting really old but don’t tell her that! She’s a Toyota need I say more? While I’d love to have a new car, I’ve always secretly or not so wanted a truck. You know there’s so much you can do with a truck. Hayrides or making-out camping in the truck bed, off-road drivin’, haulin’ large stuff home or movin’ into a new place (that’s what I’m talkin’ ’bout!). There’s somethin’ ’bout a truck!
If I had a truck ole yeah, I could do all the things above and more!

I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!
Last week was hard. I found out something I didn’t like, so I dedicate today’s encouragement to those dealing with a painful life.
At the present I have somethings up in the air. I don’t know how things will play out, so if I’m slow to dance with you then know I will stop by to boogie with you soon! Also with things up in the air I’m not sure if tomorrow’s post will make it. If you don’t see one then, life has taken precedent and blogging is on hold temporarily. Love your song choices, Cathy! They’re favorites of mine! 🙂 Plus, you know, we’re twinsies with the Kip Moore song. 😉 The hubby and I have always talked about getting a truck so when we need to haul mulch or other stuff that doesn’t quite fit in our vehicles, it’d be nice to have instead of having to rent a truck for the day. 🙂 With my dad having to be in a care facility, my mom decided it was the perfect time to downsize and finally sell their ginormous house to get one that has no stairs (since she’s not getting any younger, and with fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis in both her hands and feet, having a house with two sets of stairs is becoming problematic) she gave us my dad’s truck. It’ll not only be nice for when we need to haul something, but it’ll be a nice thing to have to remember my dad when God chooses to take him home.

I knew your mother was downsizing and I’m certainly glad she’s doing it now. In the last years of my MIL’s life, she struggled to get up and down their steps. When we visited I made sure that she didn’t climb the stairs and happily retrieved whatever she needed. We always knew the problems with stairs and the aging but it really reeled it home for me. Part of me still really wants the house we buy next to have stairs but the practical side says that’s not a good idea because I know when I’m 80 and 90 traversing steps will be tricky at best. How nice that you got your dad’s truck! It will be a huge help to you and always a reminder of him. It’s nice having a piece of those we love after God calls the home but hopefully your papa will be around for some time yet. I know he isn’t in the best of health but who knows he might out live us all. Yeah, we are twinsies with the Kip Moore song. Yay for us! Hey Sweet Cathy! What a fun theme. I had so much fun putting my playlists together. Great songs you posted. Trucks and Country music should be married, they go so well together! I’m jamming to Tim McGraw’s “Truck Yeah” in my headphones right now and it’s cranked.
I’ve never owned a truck but learned to drive stick in my parents Ford truck. Although I only went out driving in that truck a few times and I don’t trust myself driving stick-shifts. I’m an automatic kind of gal… But trucks are definitely fun. And handy. My ex has always had trucks and they are so useful for doing jobs that need to be done around the house — bringing home pallets of grass to plant, hauling crap to the dump when I get in a declutter mode, moving and so much more. There are a lot of trucks here in Texas.
I drive an SUV and will probably never go back to a car. The SUV is perfect for the dogs. And I love it. Mine is old too: I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero and that baby has a lot of miles on her but she’s in great shape, I take good care of her and as long as she’s still getting me around and not nickel-and-diming me on repairs, I’m happy to “keep on truckin” and not have a car payment! I don’t know what I’ll do whenever I have to buy a new one. I haven’t had a car payment in so long!
I liked your quote. Being stuck is not fun. I’ve been stuck more times than I care to admit. But sometimes being stuck is actually where one is supposed to be, for a time. I’ve always considered it God’s way of telling me to slow down, pay attention and take note.
I’m sorry to hear that you’re currently dealing with something painful and I hope it all ends well. Sometimes you just have to turn it over to God. I’ll keep good thoughts for you. Hang in there and hang tough! We love ya around here, don’t forget that…

I remember going from our little Ford Fiesta to Toyota Supra. The size difference felt so weird! Thankfully I didn’t drive the Supra much as we managed to use the Fiesta for years after getting the Supra and then after we traded it for a Camry, I continued using that little orange car (Fiesta). BTW, the Fiesta, Supra, and our first Camry were manual transmissions. I think everyone should learn how to drive one but nowadays automatics come standard on most vehicles unless you get a sporty car. It’s funny how it used to be the other way around. Anywho, if we ever get a truck it will super strange to drive and I’m not sure how well I can maneuver a vehicle of that size. I’ll feel like a queen sitting on a throne behind the wheel. lol
The quote I shared is aimed at a family member who is constantly doing the wrong things that keep her/him stuck in the same misery, never seeming to learn from what he/she is doing. It’s a vicious cycle that causes fear if he/she continues this path it will end his/her life. This painful situation naturally tears at my heart but I turned it over to God and in Him, I place all my worries. I won’t let Satan rob my happiness and health which is one of the things he does when he has control of a loved one’s life. He is bent on destroying everyone around that person. Prayers are very much needed not only for us but for our dear one.

Oh, Cathy, I thought your pending surprise was a good one but now that I know it’s not, I’ll be ready to hear about it when you feel like reviewing. In the meantime….we owned a pickup truck when we lived in rural Arkansas, and my son owns a truck (he’s more country than city; I wonder how that happened) and although I liked the Jason Aldean song the best, the Tim McGraw video had some men with nice biceps….yes.

The troubles of my heart are quite private regarding my children. I wish I could talk about these things but the internet is no place for it. Heck, only the closest of the family know what’s going on and all I can do is ask for prayers. God knows everything and is in control. I’m just trusting in Him.
I was never into pickup trucks but over the past couple of years, I’ve wanted one, mostly for the hauling of stuff benefit. It’s such a pain to get large things home. Usually, we have to arrange for a delivery and that’s not always convenient. I think I’d be happy if we could find a gently owned pickup that doesn’t break the piggy bank to use for these sorts of jobs. Thanks for stopping by for a dance.

HAHAHAHAHA…my husband is a trucker! Perfect for today. He drives roughly 63 Ft. of truck every day (tractor + trailer). Now, that is a truck! Good one, Cathy. You made me laugh. Thank you. When I learned about this week’s vehicle theme I immediately thought about “Trains And Boats And Planes,” the Burt Bacharach – Hal David song that was a hit for Dionne Warwick. I suppose that one can’t be counted because trains and planes aren’t included in the parameters. Other songs that came to mind include “Vehicle,” a hit single for the Ides Of March with the lyrics:
I’m a friendly stranger in the black Sedan
Won’t you hop inside my car?
…”Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car” by Billy Ocean, and, of course, countless car songs of the 60s by surf rock artists like The Beach Boys and Jan And Dean. Your truck songs are all new to me and I enjoyed them. Are you saying that you would be willing to go skinny dipping in a crick at 2 am? Sounds like a good way to get attacked by Swamp Thing. 🙂 If we are to believe those country songs and videos, a truck is a babe magnet. I’m sure it is in the Heartland but, back east where I come from, a guy needed to drive a muscle car to win the girl and gain the admiration of other guys. I always wanted a muscle car but never drove one. (I’m placing that wish on my bucket list.) My brother drove a 442 Oldsmobile and other hot cars and I always envied him.

I didn’t realize at the time I pulled today’s post together this theme was set for a broader category and for some reason I limited myself to cars and trucks before deciding to go with trucks. I went this way because I figured most would choose cars. I’m not a sports car kinda gal. I do not like going fast but we did our 1987 Toyota Supra was a turbo. That was one little hot tamale! You made me smile but let me clarify, you won’t find me swimming in a crick with or without clothes ever! First off, I’m afraid of being eaten up by something and second… that just sounds so nasty! It’s funny when I was a kid I’d never give swimming in a crick a second thought and we often did swim in one. I remember spending the summers with my aunt and uncle. There was a great swimming hole not far from them. It was so cold in the middle of summer to cool off in, too. You won’t catch me dead in one now. lol

There is something about men and trucks. It reminds me of a song by a famous country singer that I can’t recall his name. His videos are usually quite funny. He did a song where he and his band were behind chicken fence while they played. Dolly Parton and others were in the video called I Love My Bar. Anyhoo he did a song where he sang “I love my truck, I like my girlfriend…”. I hope things don’t turn south for you but we are here no matter what. I truly understand a painful life whether it is literal or figurative. Oh and I never owned a truck

Are you referring to Jim Stafford by chance? He put together some humorous ditties in the late 70s. I looked up the phrase you mentioned “I love my truck, I like my girlfriend” and Google came back with Toby Keith. Most of us can relate to a painful life to a degree. Some people tend to stay in one. Unfortunately, this is the case with one of my oldest. All I can do is pray because until she’s decides enough is enough and do something about it, then nothing will change. Thanks for stopping by to dance!

Lots of songs about all sorts of vehicles. I’ve only owned one car in my life, but I’ve owned several vans. Never had a truck either. A van works great for a family as well as for hauling stuff. The van I have now is great for road trips.

We are sorta considering a van for extensive travel but I’m not sure if that’ll ever happen, though. We have never owned a truck or van, just cars. In our early years, we drove DH’s Ford Fiesta. This is what he got when he started college and served us well for many years. That was in the day when economy cars really saved you money and got some excellent gas mileage. By the mid-80s, I was working and we bought our first car, a Toyota Supra (1985). We traded up a few years later for the Turbo Supra but then a few years later parenting urges struck and we traded down for a Camry. Our last car purchase in 2003, we got another Camry. We’ve been a Toyota family for 32 years. I reckon our next car will be a Toyota, too. It’s hard to steer away from such a reliable transportation line. 🙂
