Thursday Art Date

TADwRain week3 #art theme ‘Sea Creatures’

This week’s Thursday Art Day with Rain prompt is ‘Sea Creatures’.  My April A to Z Challenge theme I sketched animated characters from Disney’s Little Mermaid series (movies & TV series) which consisted of a lot of sea life and you’re welcome to check out my A2Z Reflections’ post where you’ll find direct links to each illustration.

One thing I wanted to draw last month that I didn’t get to do is a sea horse but I didn’t want to sketch the one from the Disney TV series/movie today, so looked for inspiration on the net and found an image begging me to put my pencil to paper or in this case my apple pencil to my iPad.

Did you know my first attempt to sketch mermaids was 2017? I wanted to draw ‘The Little Mermaid’ but wasn’t confident to try it.  I’ve come a long way in two years rarely do I let anything stop me from drawing anything.

What sea creatures do you think I should illustrate next?

Thanks for stopping in with your coffee for a peek at my masterpiece and …oh yeah for not spilling it on my artwork.  lol  It’s been a super pleasure to share my sprinkle of talent with you this morning. 😘 If you like to see what others are bringing to the art play date, then I invite you to high tail it over to Rain’s Garden to browse through the gallery of artistry!

I’ll be back tomorrow with an edition of Friday Fun Stuff chockful of giggles, fill-ins, & more! Come join the fun!

That came out great ! I can’t think of any sea creatures you haven’t already done. 🙂

      Ellen,

I did a lot of sea creatures in May. There aren’t too many that’s left to capture my imagination other than a whale. I definitely want to draw on.

Your sketch is really good Cathy! 🙂 I love how her tail wraps around the seahorse, which is one of my favourite creatures! Well done! I love the colours too! 🙂 xx

      Rain,

I like how her tail wraps around the seahorse, too. I think that’s why I was drawn to the original image on Google. Thanks for taking a peek.

      Brain,

Sure you have talent. You can climb trees very well. That takes no fear of heights, skill, and agility which I have none of the above. 🙂

    Hi, Cathy!

    Happy Thursday, dear friend!

I clicked back to your 2017 sketch of the mermaids. Good as those black and white pencil sketches are, I agree that your artistic ability has advanced since then. I love this portrait, in living color, of the mermaid riding her sea horse while holding a starfish. The color combo is pleasing to the eye and I like the fish, plants and shells that add detail to the scene. I have always been fond of the octopus and would enjoy seeing what you can do with that creature beyond what you already gave us in The Little Mermaid series.

Today I need to start packing for my trip, but I should be able to return again tomorrow for your Friday Sillies. Have a wonderful day, dear friend Cathy!

      Tom,

You’ve been with me for quite a while and were right there cheering me on in 2017 when I challenged myself to sketch my way through the alphabet for the first time. I appreciate your gentle encouragement that spews me on to keep doing what I love. Thank you so much! I hope you and Mrs. S have a safe, uneventful, and fun trip. Don’t worry about visiting while you’re away. It’s okay to be away from Blogosphere. 🙂 Take care, my friend!
