Thursday Art Date

Revamped artwork

Art themes for last and this at Rain’s Kitchen & Garden are warm colors (red, orange, & yellow) and cool colors (blue, purple, & green). I’m taking a short cut today in sharing revamped art which you may recognize.

The first illustration I shared on Facebook in 2019 with an art group. The prompt was fruit and vegetables. I decided to draw a basket of strawberries. I use my artwork frequently to create special occasion greeting cards for family. Looking for inspiration, I went with this image touching it up.

Procreate Strawberries noise filter – using this new image design I used Pixelmator to add a phrase across the clouds Some of the sweetest moments in life… and on the inside it reads happen when you become a mother. Happy Mother’s Day!

I converted the document file for the card to a pdf which I will share with you shortly.  I’ve been playing with a lot with my Brushstrokes app, using the above re-do artwork let’s see how it turns out…

I like texture of the painting-like remake.  The only thing is you can’t read what’s on the strawberry box label. The app can’t do everything but for the most part I simply love how it changes things.

My next art piece you will definitely recognize if you’ve been with the TAD community since 2021.  Rain prompt Crisscross in July of that year, I drew a basket of fruit with a crisscross design. There are some things I like about the original but mostly I wasn’t happy with the background or light colors.  I modified the Procreate sketch with these new changes.

Naturally, curious to see how this image would look if it were a painting I let Brushstrokes do its magic.

Are you tired of seeing old works become new again?  If you hang in here for a few minutes more, I have one more for you, except I don’t believe I ever, ever shared this one before.  It was just hanging out in my Ready to Share folder.  Rain gave a prompt of “green” in August 2019 at which time I was taking a short blogging hiatus.  I suppose I had hoped to play along when I returned but never did. This is what I drew, except this is my newer version of the original. It’s amazing the things I can do to make my art look better with a few tweaks.  That’s why I love Procreate.  It’s forgiving, allowing me to fix mistakes without ruining the rest of my work. 🙂

Procreate Kermit

Let’s see what a painting of Kermit might look like!

I’m thankful for spring-like temperatures, all blooming things, wonderful friends such as you, and a good report on my Colonoscopy.

I wanted to give a thank you to Nicole for sharing her crusty bread recipe a few weeks ago.  True to her words, it’s easy and tasty.

I served my bread with some home made soup, a recipe I pulled off the cobwebbed shelves of my memory.  My late MIL often made a corned beef, cabbage, with Veg-All and canned tomatoes.  For the first time in a long time since last making this, it wasn’t too bad.  The recipe is forth-coming but not in this post.

Finally, as promised here’s the Mother’s Day card I made last year for you to use. 😉

On Monday, I’ll be dancing with the 4M crew and you’re invited to join the party.  If you have music to share then this is the place to do it. Can I count you?  This is CAAC signing off,  have a doodletastic day! XO, Cathy

Oh I used to watch the Muppet Show every week and I remember that episode with Debbie Harry, thanks for the lovely memory! A tear comes to my eye every time I hear Kermit sing that song!

Your Procreate Kermit is so cute! And I love your remade art btw, especially the strawberries!

Thanks, Rain! We used to watch the Muppets TV show and even saw the films done in the early 80s. These productions weren’t simply for little kids but the kid inside of us all. 🙂

It doesn’t matter what is on my mind when I come to see you, I always leave with a smile on my face … you are such a delight Cathy and I love all of your art. My fav is, of course Kermit and his Rainbow (and his Rainbow song). My kids grew up on Sesame Street and I think I probably watched it as much as they did 🙂 Good for you that you made Nicole’s bread and there is no doubt that is was delicious. A big thumbs up on a positive Colonoscopy report … that is a big deal, my friend! Stay well, Cathy and never change you happy ways …

      Miss Marie,

I didn’t forget you. I used my new email address to send it out and it might be in your junk/spam folder. I went ahead with resending it again using my old gmail address, so watch for it arrive in your in-box, my dear.

I never get tired of revamped art. I do it myself. I think it’s fun to make a piece that was who one was in the past to who one is now. And all your fruit, especially the strawberries, look yummy! And who doesn’t love Kermit. And your bread looks yummy. Baking bread is very satisfying, isn’t it. Have a great weekend Cathy. hugs-Erika

      Erika,

As an artist, the more you create the better you get with your skills which allows you to improve upon older pieces and doing that digitally is super easy. Thanks for joining me!

Hi Cathy! Love all your paintings and that they can be re-styled using procreate or whatever thing you want to do to them. I’m just learning that you can paint something, put it away, and come back to it with new knowledge, techniques, etc. and revamp them. Art is so wonderful 🙂 XO ~Brenda and the Ts

Beautiful strawberries! I hope mine survived the winter on the balcony!
Oh, and the fruit basket! Very well done with the light.
    Kermit-Lover here 🙂
When we got married in beautiful Perth-area in summer there was a mini-rainbow and everybody it´ll bring us luck 🙂

    Hi, Cathy!

I am here to keep our Thursday Art Date With Rain, dear friend!

You did an excellent job of transforming that drawing of the box of strawberries based on the original shared on FB in 2019. I agree that the final iteration using Brushstrokes is the best of the three. The berries look ripe and bursting with flavor. The whole scene has more warmth and a vintage mid 20th century look.

The resulting image from using Brushstrokes is even more pronounced in the still life of the crisscross fruit basket. You turned it into an eye-pleasing painting suitable for framing. I love it!

I admire both versions of Kermit the Frog strumming his banjo with a rainbow overhead. It’s a cheery sight, and I thank you for showing it to us for the first time.

I am very happy to know you got an “A” on your colonoscopy. What a blessing. I didn’t even know you underwent the procedure. That should give you added peace of mind the rest of the year and enhance your creative ability in producing art for us to enjoy.

That bread looks delicious, Cathy! My Kathy, Mrs. Shady, loves to bake bread, but practically slaps my hand if I reach for too many slices of it. She wants it all for herself! 🙂 I love home baked bread with veggie soup or chilli.

The Mother’s Day card is a delight with the message printed across the clouds in fancy script font. Wow, look how young Debbie Harry was in that appearance with Kermit singing “Rainbow Connection!”

This was a wonderful post. Your art always makes my day. Enjoy the rest of your week and I’ll see you on the 4M dance floor next Monday. Happy Thankful Thursday, dear friend Cathy!

      Mr Early Bird, Tom,

You’re the first one to visit my artsy post. I don’t think I told anyone other than perhaps one friend only because we were corresponding via email just before the procedure. I’ve grown accustom to it and really don’t see it as any big deal. Things always go well. I’m very blessed to continue on the road of good health. I do have a follow-up early next month. The doctor wants to talk to me about the inflammation in my small intestines and while I know I have issues I don’t think even that is a huge deal. It’s manageable even when it’s difficult at times. Honestly, I don’t know why I’m going for that appointment but we’ll see. You’re right about good check up giving me peace of mind to enjoy life’s passions. I made more home baked bread just this week, new recipe, and it turned out even better than this. I’m totally hooked on it. I plan to share this with the community in the very near future. DH went crazy over it. I made two large loaves. He nearly ate half of one loaf before he stopped himself. lol He’s a serious bread eater. I thought the same thing about Debbie Harry with her fresh youthfulness in this now vintage clip but then we all were younger 40+ years ago. Good heavens, can you believe it’s been that long? Thanks for including me in your morning, dear friend. Have a wonderful weekend!
