Monday's Music Moves Me

Snowy White featuring The White Flames

Image borrowed from Snow White’s photo gallery

Are we bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning?  Daylight Saving Time started again yesterday.  I for one like getting that extra bit of sunshine later in the day Yeah, it’ll naturally happen anyhow but there you go whether you like this crazy cycle or not, we’re stuck with it for awhile.

This week’s music theme is whatever music moves you, baby!  This post has been in drafts forever.  A little furriend of the 4M party, Binky, sadly who is no longer with us, shared the 1983 Top 10 UK Singles Chart hit, “Bird of Paradise” and I really liked it. I had to check out the artist.

Born Terrance Charles “Snowy” White in Barnstaple, Devon.  He began playing the guitar when he was ten and at 17 years he moved to Stockholm to pursue his music career.  He is best known for his former ties with Thin Lizzy and Pink Floyd.

Wiki mentioned Snowy recorded five albums with The White Flames.  SOMETHING ON ME released October 2020 and at the time was the first album on their YouTube channel line-up, so I thought why not run this one?

I’m curious how he came to get the nickname “Snowy”.  Anyone know?  I know the more musical educated amongst my friends will known this fella.  I’d love to know what are your favorite songs and ask that you share them in comments.

Read Snowy’s bio on his site or breeze through Wiki niblets.

I hope you enjoyed the tunes.  You’ll find a list of my fellow co-hostess listed in my side bar underneath the 4M banner.  Every other week, we have a suggested music theme to build your song set around.  Usually, participants share YouTube videos for our music enthusiasts’ enjoyment. However, theme picked music isn’t mandatory to hit the dance floor but failure to meet the basic guideline (post must contain music) puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.  I invite you to join the linky party below!

💫This month’s spotlight dancer is Ramblin’ with AM!💫

Normally about now, I’m ramping up for the April A to Z Challenge and up until recently I thought I would participate in the annual event. I even completed a handful of posts but then it hit me, my heart wasn’t in it.  I felt more stressed then excited.  That’s when I gave myself permission to not do it.  After which, I felt lots better and more motivated to do other things.  Perhaps next year, I’ll be ready to take part.  I’ll be back on Wednesday with a new BOTB and I hope you can join the fun. This is CAAC signing off, have a boogietastic week! X💋X💋, Cathy

I liked this sound a lot! Snowy’s voice reminds me, in a strange way, of Bob Dylan, and I don’t know why. He’s a vert good guitar player, too. Another new artist introduced to me – thank you. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

I’d say “Snowy” white’s nickname is probably a play on the name Snow White, but you probably knew that. What I’d like to know is how got the nickname Binky…

He’s good, and no, I hadn’t heard him before now. I checked him out on Spotify, and he seems to be in good company, because he’s associated with Peter Green and Alvin Lee. Will spend some time with him there! Thanks!

      Brian,

Don’t worry about the no tunes. I’m glad you stop by to enjoy whatever I share. Gibson is a legendary guitar company. I would like to play guitar but I have small hands so I don’t think this is a good instrument for me, so I’ll just enjoy other talented artists. 🙂

I enjoyed listening to him . He’s a combo of blues, smooth jazz and easy listening. Good for you to not feel stressed and make that decision. Funny how one feels guilty for not doing it when that guilt is brought on by oneself.

      • Cathy Kennedy

        Birgit,

Ain’t that the truth about guilt. We put it on ourselves. I think we all have that tendency to not want to say no to things but really it’s okay to say no. I’m glad you enjoyed Snowy White.

Awww on that cutie pie. So precious.

Love the video. We love the same kind of music.

I can’t edit Marie’s post on WordPress. She wanted me to, but I can’t. I don’t have admin permission. Can’t comment on her post either. I tried.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs. ♥

      Sandee,

Which blog does she want to use? She got the blogspot site working for her WW post last week. Are you referring to thenewxmasdolly.wordpress.com site? If so, yeah, she unchecked the Allow Commenting feature on the post. I’ve done that before. It’s an easy thing to do. I don’t have access to it, either. Perhaps, she’ll reach out to one of us to give her a hand. Thanks for dropping by, darlin’!

WOW! One of our favourite singers, CK. The song Bird of Paradise is our favourite as it brings up so many memories, but we also like One more traveller, It’s only the blues and Another Blue Night and did you hear Angel inside you, CK? That’s also a great song, but in fact we love all his mewsic, sometimes it even sounds like Pink Floyd…no wonder huh😸Sorry we couldn’t chose just one, he’s such a great musician. Angel Binky says Thank you for giving her a place for this announcement💗 Oh, and he named himself Snowy because of his fair hair😺Double Pawkisses for a swinging day ahead🐾😽💞

      Granny & furbabies,

I figured you knew why Snowy was named this and how easy is that to remember now. I’m delighted you enjoyed the feature line up and that angel Binky is smiling down on me with my mewsic this morning. Thanks for joining the party, furriends!

      Kathe,

I like koalas, too. They are adorable. I have a stuffed toy somewhere in storage that DH won for me at the carnival when we were dating. 🙂

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Paw-some 4M Monday, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend. Did you feed him any of your award winning pancakes or baked goods? 🙂

Aww… I just wanna smooch that cute dancing pinup girl, but she’d probably slap my face for being fresh. 🙂 Oops… I should have waited until I scrolled down. I see that there’s a cute and cuddly (and sleepy) Koala Bear at the end of the post. That’s a wonderful image, and the quote is also excellent. You will stay on track if you think of every obstacle as a bridge.

I know Georgie Fame And The Blue FLames, but I never heard of Snowy White And The White Flames. If you have not been able to determine the origin of his nickname “Snowy” by checking the two sources you listed, then I don’t know where else to look. Maybe it is just a catchy stage name that occurred to him since his birth name Terrance doesn’t roll off the tongue as nicely. I also think the casual, informal “Snowy” is a good name for a laid-back blues-orientated British singer and electric guitar player. I’m listening to his album with my headphones on and, right away, on track #1, “Something About Me,” I notice how the music gets inside my head with that intimate sound I love. The various instruments dance around and create visions in the mind. It’s a superb song! Unless I missed it, I couldn’t find a way to step through any additional songs, and so I needed to find the 2020 album on YouTube and listen there. Now I’m running through “Another Blue Night” and loving the sound. Snowy reminds me of Eric Clapton and the Led Zeppelin guys. The next standout track is “Get Responsible” and now he’s reminding me of the British rock band Dire Straits that did “Sultans Of Swing.” It’s a powerful message song. I’m really liking the slower groove, the lyrics, the arrangement and the improvisational feel of “It’s Only the Blues” – a great song! “Commercial Suicide” is fabulous and makes me smile, because it was no doubt named such because it is a rambling 7 minute instrumental jam, the kind of track that is too long to get played on most radio stations. “I Wish I Could (That’s the Chance You Take)” is a clever and funny song that reminds me of Paul Simon. “Chill (the White Flames band is chillin’ out)” is yet another cooking number that was a pleasure to hear. It brings to mind Clapton’s Derek And The Dominos project, Savoy Brown and other British blues bands.

Well, you did it again, Cathy. This was a marvelous set of songs and instrumental tracks by Snowy White and his band. I appreciate the introduction. FYI – There’s a birthday celebration going on right now at Shady’s Place and you’re invited to the party. I wish you a safe and happy week, dear friend Cathy!

      Tom,

I made DH his favorite of my home-made pizzas an Italian sausage and onion pie this weekend. I also made a special recipe for him that he sent me for Oreo Truffles. I plan to share that in the coming weeks. I just noticed the complete album playlist wasn’t embedded so I fixed that. I’m making a lot of goofs lately, sorry ’bout that. I am very happy you enjoyed the introduction of this band. This album is really mellow sounding and puts you in a good mood. I’m actually playing it through again since it’s been a long time that I’ve heard it. Time really gets away from us, doesn’t it? Thanks for visiting this morning. Have a boogietastic week, dear friend!
