Challenge,  Get To Know Me (g2km)

Pizza Night, Every Night? Day 5 – G2KM Blog Challenge

Yesterday being Sunday, I didn’t want to post.  A day of rest is needed even from things I enjoy like blogging.  Tell me, are you warming up to me yet?   Perhaps, you’re beginning to feel like you’ve known me all of your life.   Okay…today’s new fact about me will be on the light side.  You know, I am not a picky eater.  I love lots of different foods! I will give any new cuisine a try,  that is if it’s not too icky.  However, I do have a favorite food–PIZZA!

Pizza is one of those  foods, I believe I could eat it every single night. Like any food, I fear this would eventually grow old if we did have it every night.  So….weekend pizza night has grown in popularity in our household.  One of our family’s favorite pastimes is to settle into the living room for movie night while savoring every tasty hot, delicious morsel of our pizza extravaganza.

Knoxville has several pizzerias. No matter where we get our pizza, we always order the same toppings: fully loaded, minus the mushrooms with extra onions. We do not like the taste, but more importantly, we are allergic to these nasty, slimy fungus.

Our favorites are Mellow Mushroom, Gattis, and Stefano’s. All three places are different, yet offer superb quality pizzas.  Mellow Mushroom takes the blue ribbon, but we won’t shy away from either of the other two.  My only complaint we are not in their delivery zone.  Perhaps, they need to expand their horizon by opening up more stores, say in our part of town.

Although our top choices do not deliver, all is not lost.  For pizza on wheels,  we have a couple to fall back on like Dominoes, Papa John’s, and Pizza Hut. Papa John’s has become our first pick of these three.  These pizzas are good quality but often times their quality control varies.  The flavor is yummy but often times skimpy on the toppings. This is an aggravation.  The regular promotions give a bit of a discount which helps to off-set our annoyance with their inconsistent quality control.

Interestingly,  we have discovered over the years frozen pizza has vastly improved since ur teen years.

We are quite hooked on Red Barron’s pan style pizzas and fire-baked style pizzas – thin crust. Of the well-known National brands, Red Barron has improved the most, in my opinion.

We stumbled on a new brand at Ingle’s grocery store that we love, Palermo’s! The Primo Ultra-Thin Supreme is our favorite. We wish Wal-Mart would stock their freezer with this tasty little gem. That would be so awesome!

You’ve learned yet another interesting (or not) fact about me.  Why not share in comments what your favorite pizzas are?  Think outside the box (pardon the pun) and don’t limit yourself to dine-in or take out pizzerias. It’ll be great fun to see what you have to add!

@Donnie…well…if I’m in Florida then I’ll be sure to check out Pauley’s Pizza. As you know, I love Italian pie. It puts a smile on my face and a song in my heart.

Honey, there is no way I’m going to make pizza so I do have to say Pauley’s Pizza in Spanish Springs, Lady Lake Florida is the closest to New York Ferry Terminal pizza there is. You can’t improve on perfection. Loved your post.

@Amanda…if I food allergies I think I’d die. Okay, that’a bit drastic. I do have some food sensitivities, but if I want those foods, I’ll eat them and then be sorry ’bout it later. Home-made pizzas are good, too. Your basil est sauce sounds yummy. Thanks for stopping by!

I’m not sure I could eat pizza currently, but I thought I’d chime in. My soy allergy makes it where my husband and I can’t do most pizzas from a pizzeria and the frozen pizzas are out. Instead, I make the dough from scratch, using a secret recipe with sugar, cinnamon and honey in the dough. Then I usually skip the tomato sauce for basil pesto sauce, add cheeses other than mozzarella, and toppings. My husband prefers lots of veggies, including the nasty, slimy fungus you guys are allergic to.
Maybe I should make pizza tonight.
