Wordless Wednesday

New Market Presbyterian Church #WW

Welcome Kittens & Dawgs! Somewhere in New Market, Tennessee we drove past this church. My recollection says it was in the downtown area but I’m not sure now.  I just recall there was no place to get off the road to take a picture except for a small space just in front of the church which made for a tight fit. The picture lacked character so I used Pixelmator with an overlay called fabric dye that I downloaded from DeviantArt creating a slightly washed out image.

[tweetthis]I linked up with Curious as a Cathy for some not-so #WW fun & I invite you join the party! #photography[/tweetthis]

Next is my Wednesday Hodgepodge segment hosted by Joyce. This is an excellent way to get to know your fellow blogger and you’re invited to play alone.

1. Where do you go when you need some inspiration? To the Bible, DH, my mom, or a good friend.

2. What’s under your bed? Besides dust bunnies, we stored our table’s expansion panels under it. I’m sure there’s some more odd things tucked under that I’ve forgotten, too.

3. Thursday, February 22nd is National Chili Day, National Margarita Day, and National Cook a Sweet Potato Day. Of the three which would you most like to celebrate? Is that likely? National Chili Day would win out but we won’t be celebrating it. Let me correct that statement, there’s a good chance we may have chili tonight if things go well. I hope to make a pot of White Chili. The reason I said no initially is it wasn’t long ago that I made traditional red chili but then I remembered that I wanted to make the white chili. I’ll try to share my recipe soon for y’all. You can alway ask Google. Hopefully things will progress nicely today in the right direction. Keep your fingers crossed? 😉

4. What are you ‘snowed under’ with right now?  Currently, I’m trying to get some chores done around the house after being sick all weekend.

5. Tell us three to five things that make you feel balanced? DH, getting tasks completed, and having blog posts scheduled two weeks in advance.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  We under a crazy weather system with temps in the 70s. I’m not complaining but it’s crazy when I look ahead to see early March cooler. I had to run the AC yesterday.  I’ll enjoy this while I can and I hope we don’t get a blizzard next month like we did 24-years ago. That was wild! Here are photos the day after of DD#1, age 4 and DD#2 age 2. Just look at all that snow! We got almost two feet.

Have a good day and please join me tomorrow learn the winner of last week’s Eternal Flame BoTB Sing-Off!

So you got a blizzard in ’93 too? I got in late Friday night and it was raining. By the next morning, there were six inches or more of snow on the ground. We had an outside cat at the time who slept on the front porch at night. When we saw all the snow, we ran to let her in, and it was like the cartoons when someone gets stuck in the snow: the snow was piled up on her. She was okay, though, and apart from a couple of jaunts outside to sit on the deck, she was in for good.

This warm weather has been great; I hope it doesn’t end anytime soon.

      John,

We knew snow was coming but had to idea Mother Nature would dump so much on us at one time. We were thankful it fell on a weekend. During the night, four or five evergreens fell silently barely missing our home. The one that concerned us most sat in the yard beside our house but it was undisturbed. We had that one removed in recent years for fear we wouldn’t be so lucky the next time. I looked at our forecast and oddly it looks like we have a chance for some snow showers most evening next week with the temps returning to the 30s at night. I’m ready for the warmer temps to stay, too.

We used to have pine trees all over the property, the real skinny kind. When we started seeing pines falling around the neighborhood (thankfully, not on anyone’s house), we had all of ours taken down. We are not ones to tempt fate.

I have to go with Margarita day and by the end of that day, you might find me under the bed. Our cats like going under the bed as well. As for inspiration, I might go to an uplift8ng movie, read!! Think of my mom..To feel balanced…my animals, my work, meditation, I balance my hubby since his ADHD often works in overtime for him. Love your picture because there is something otherworldly about the photo. It is around 2C today, back up to 10 tomorrow, then back down…welcome to Canadian weather crappola.

      Birgit,

Like I said, I’m enjoying the weather even though it’s a bit too warm for me because I know folks like you have it rough still and things can change on a dime here. We’re not out of the woods yet with nearly a month left in this season.

      Linda,

This crazy warmer weather is bringing the ladybugs into the house in numbers! This might be the worst I’ve seen that in a long time. I can’t anything done for trying to get rid of them. 🙁 Things will cool off a bit over the next few weeks and it’ll probably be one last good winter blast, too. Thanks for visiting, my friend!

      Eugenia,

I’m running so late this week! This is the first time to make white chili in years and it was a nice treat. The cornbread goes great with it, too.

Thank you, Steve! Things are still a little screwy but it’s always a work-in-progress to get back to feeling more like me again. I am doing better, though.

Very pretty church. I have never heard of white chili, I look forward to your recipe. I love the photos of your kids when they were little, such cuties. Have a nice day! I hope you are all recovered now. XO

Hi Cathy!!! Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. You have blog posts scheduled week in advance? I don’t have the slightest clue about what I am going to write about on Friday. Feel better soon!!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Katie,

Yeah, I do my posts in advance. The thing that helps is my participation in daily blog hops. I generally have a direction for my posts, so all it takes is time to pull things together. Speaking of which, I really need to hunker down to get my April A to Z Challenge posts lined out. I’m not sure if I’ll get the whole month pre-posted like last year or not. I thought I’d take a little blog break to do that but I don’t know if I want to do that just yet. I’ll see how things go. Thanks for stopping by. I’ll see ya soon!

    Hi, Cathy!

I hope you are feeling even better today, dear friend. I love how you enhanced the picture of the New Market church. It looks like a painting. Just now I saved it as my desktop background.

The “What’s under your bed” question made me smile. When we moved a few weeks ago we were amazed at the dust bunnies we found under the two beds. We are also richer than we thought because we also found a dime and a penny. 🙂

Sweet Potato Day is my pick because I like all kinds of potatoes, but I also like all kinds of beans and enjoy chili. Since I prefer white meat over red, I think I’d enjoy while chili made with chicken or pork. Mrs. S only makes red chili and I am eager to show her your white chili recipe.

The high temp today in my vicinity is expected to be 89 degrees – much too warm for February even by Florida standards. I am thinking about organizing a class action lawsuit against Punxsutawney Phil. That dang groundhog lied to us when he announced six more weeks of winter! 🙂

It’s great to see pictures taken of your kiddos frolicking in the deep snow 24 years ago.

Have a wonderful Wednesday, dear friend Cathy!

      Tom,

Yes, I’m doing better but a bit swamped. This week I’ve been super busy with some cleaning jobs which leaves me with little time to tend my blog or make return visits. So, I try to do a few each morning. I shudder to think what we’ll find when moving someday. I’m holding all hopes that I find my first engagement ring somewhere in the house. After DS’s birth, I needed to take it to the jeweler because a prong was bent and I put it in an envelope then tucked it into my purse. However, I believe I actually lost it while running errands. I vividly recall having to empty the contents of my purse in a store to find something and that’s probably when it fell or I missed picking up. It haunted me for years not being able to find it, too. DH eventually got me a replacement but it was several years later. He surprised me big time, too!

I like sweet potatoes but I just don’t buy them other than for the holidays. I really need to change my thinking because they are really good for you. While I didn’t get a chance to make the white chili on Wednesday, I did make it yesterday and it turned out good. I will try to get the recipe up soon for you to share with Mrs. Shady. We’re getting some warm temps, too. Around noon it was 78º yesterday, so I know it climbed a bit higher before dropping. Yeah, that darn Punxsutawney Phil missed the mark! I’m sure you won’t have any trouble finding folks to jump on the bandwagon to bring charges against the cute bucktooth rodent. 🙂

      Carmen,

Thanks for visiting. Actually, I do not have ANY pets. Once upon a time, we had a cat but when I was pregnant with our first I decided it was time to find our kitty a good home and luckily a dear friend who was a huge cat lover opened her home to her. That was a hard decision but one I needed to do because of my allergies. Have a good day.

If I had known about Chili Day I would have made a pot of chili tomorrow. Having chicken and guacamole instead cause that’s how I planned it. Hope I feel better than I did today–been kind of queasy all day.

Margarita Day sounds kind of nice, but I doubt whether I’d get past 2 of them and then I probably be kind of tipsy.

      Lee,

Are you still sick with the same thing? I’m sorry you’re not well. I had a rough weekend but it was nothing more than mold allergies causing intestinal turmoil. Chili I like, margarita I doubt it. I’ve never had one but I don’t care for the taste of alcohol in anything. But a virgin margarita might be good because they look like a slushy to me. lol
