Monday's Music Moves Me

#Music helps to soothe your pain

Good-morning, kittens & dawgs! How are things in your little corner of the world? All is well here, except for the pain in my left knee for the past 2-weeks. Thankfully, it’s doing better. I think the culprit behind the inflammation is the daily salmon oil supplement, which I temporarily stopped taking. I’ll try taking it again in a few weeks to see if the pain returns and if it does then I know that my body just doesn’t handle it well.

Speaking of pain, I know everyone deals with it. Sometimes it’s mind blinding, debilitating agony and other times it’s just a constant nagging ache, but what ever degree of your discomfort, know music helps to soothe your pain.

  • Music processes pain. Listening to pleasing tunes, increases the activity in the reward center portion of the brain that releases the chemical dopamine ~ that feel quality associated with food, sex, and certain addictive drugs.
  • Better relief with good music. Depending on how gratifying the song is can improve your perspective of pain. For instance, the sound of soft romantic ballets such as The Blue Danube Waltz reported to ease pain suffering by the listener than when listening to clashing, unpleasant notes of Pendulum Music. (Personally, I found it annoying and I’m not in pain.)
  • Music provides distraction. One obvious reason with music’s ability is it creates a competition for the listener’s attention. If the pain suffer gives his/her mind over to the music then he/she feels less pain.
  • Pain reduction proof from music. Improving one’s wellness with music isn’t only a perception, but is documented that playing music for patients before, during, and after medical procedures can help lower blood pressure, reduce anxiety and stress, ease muscle tension, and more.

Last week, if you read The one thing I want to accomplish in 2015  then you know I’m making changes in my approach to blogging this new year. I thought it appropriate to let the cat out of the bag one of the decisions I made and that is I am stepping down as co-host of Monday’s Music Moves Me.

Before you get all misty eyed on me, let me just say this doesn’t mean good-bye. Au contraire, I hope to be right here week after week boogieing with you. I just want to do things a little different in pairing my Monday morning posts with an appropriate song choices. After all… isn’t the reason we’re here for the music?

Thank you, Marie for allowing me to do this with you and the ladies. It’s been wonderful! Okay, you know what to do ~ link up (if you want new followers on another social media other than your blog then add it below) and have fun! 😉

and don’t forget to link your musical link here

What is your favorite music to listen to when you’re in pain? Does lovely music take away your pain? Thanks for joining me this marvelously, music-tastical Monday!

I’m sorry you’re not running the show anymore. Truly hope you keep blasting those good tunes regardless, and thank you for adding a little joy to bleak Mondays for a lot of people.

I don’t know that I was ever running this show. lol I just sorta helped out. XmasDolly is the mistress of this little shindig. Fortunately, I was asked to join the crew and had a blast doing it. But, make no mistake just because I’m stepping down doesn’t mean I’m disappearing from the dance floor. Nope, nope, nope! You will continue to find me week on the boogieing right alone with you. Thanks for stopping by, Ben!

I hope your knee gets better! I could very well be that salmon oil supplement – maybe check to see if Krill Oil would be a better alternative (at least that’s what my aunt says…heh!)

Music really is good for the soul, isn’t it? Whether it’s to get us moving, or calm us down, or somewhere in between, music is a needed daily thing. You know what else is always needed? You and your awesomeness. It’s been a joy to dance alongside you as co-host these last couple of years, you will be sorely missed – but not too much, since you’re still gonna dance (which makes me happy) but in a different capacity. 🙂 Your music selection, as always, is impeccable again today! 🙂

    • Cathy Kennedy

Stacy, thanks for the tip on Krill oil. I’ll look into that most definitely. You can count on me to boogie with you each week and you’re sure to see me a time or two throughout the week. I’m not going to abandon my routine blog hops altogether, but hope to do a better job incorporating more of me into the equation instead of just limping along to say I joined in, you know? Oh well…keep the spirit movin’ with some tunetastic fun!

I pray your knee will heal soon.
This is why I love music, it can be an antidote for so many things in our lives.

And I cant’ say I’ll miss you, because I’ll still be visiting and chatting with you my dear Cathy. You are a good friend.

    *HUGS*
    Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Callie! Actually, my knee is doing a lot better these past few days. I did stop taking the salmon oil, but then I added it back with no problems as of yet. Another thing, I thought of that could cause trouble is the aloe vera caps. Whatever it is, I will figure it out and eliminate it altogether from my diet. Oh well…I hear what you’re saying, there is no reason to say our good-byes since we visit one another outside the 4M hop, so we won’t be missing each other, will we? lol Building friendships in Blogosphere has been an unexpected, but fun perk to blogging. Here’s to getting much accomplished in 2015 and finding my niche again in blogging.

Very interesting! Also explains why I tend to have better workouts when I listen to my heavy, aggressive stuff, too. But for relaxing? Nothing beats classical.(or at least the classical instruments) Sometimes words are not needed. I”ll have to check out pendulum music; I’ve never heard of it before!

I understand the need to step down from duties and just participate….we’re definitely all here for the music 🙂

Music is wonderful to listen to when exercising or cleaning house. I can’t imagine having my home void of music. It would be so boring and sad! Thanks for your understanding support with my decision to leave as co-host and hope we’ll continue to boogie together each week, Kim!
