Tuesday Talk Time

Bad things come in threes #chat

Good-morning, kittens & dawgs! I’m happy to report for now Knoxville is out of the deep freeze. It amazes me just how warm it feels in the house when the a.m. temperatures are above 32º. Seriously!  If we never got below freezing all winter, you wouldn’t hear a peep out of me. I’d be happy as a Cathy can be.

How are things at your house? We experienced a wild ride last week. You know the old saying, bad things come in threes? That’s our story.

DD#1 sorta went missing. Initially, I didn’t think much about it. It wasn’t uncommon for her to go for weeks without a word from her. She’s a bit reclusive at times. However, DD#2 thought it necessary to file a missing person’s report on her. I had a certain calm within that everything was okay and that there was a reasonable explanation for her so-called disappearance, but I didn’t try to talk her out of her decision. I felt it better to err on the side of caution than to assume all was well. We live in such a crazy world.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. Why didn’t you just call her? Simple. Her phone was out of commission. It wasn’t working. Okay, why didn’t you go to her apartment or check in with her where she works? That’s not so simple. You see, she made changes to both without telling any of us. *geez* That was a poor decision on her part. I’m ashamed to say, her consideration for others is a bit lacking.

Thankfully, our story has a happy ending.  Within 24-hours of reporting her missing, the police spotted her car and pulled her over. Yay, KPD!!! They informed her that a missing person’s report was out on her. That’s when she decided it was a good idea to borrow someone’s phone to call us to say all is well. *a breath of sigh* Although, I knew she was fine thanks to God’s peace, it was nice to get confirmation.

I can’t recall, if this happened before or after DD#1, but it doesn’t matter. DH went for his monthly FEAT (Front End Alignment Tool – it’s kinda like a retainer) adjustment. That’s when he learned the tooth he had a root canal on a few years ago needs extracting. The root developed a fracture. Poor, darling!

We knew when he had the root canal there was a chance it wouldn’t be successful, but after the procedure and the visits following then things looked good. We thought the tooth would make it. *sigh*

The news bummed out DH and rightfully so. I mean who wants to lose a tooth. He will get another implant. It hurts, it’s aggravating (several visits), and…oh yeah, expensive! The upside to this all is he noticed something wrong and called attention to it when he saw his doctor this time or else it may have developed into a major deal.

Just as we felt things were settling down a bit, the rug got yanked from underneath us. On Friday, DH learned his job will end on the 30th of this month. We half-expected this outcome. Just before Thanksgiving, the local office boss told the guys what may come down the pike. Then last month, a little work filtered in revitalizing everyone’s hope that, that would be enough to bide them time for other job contracts to show up, but sadly the project got cancelled. Unfortunately, this is just the way it goes when you’re a contractor.

There aren’t too many Electrical Engineering positions in town, but DH (Robin) does have a lead that he plans to follow-up on. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers, as well as me. This is nothing new to us. We’ve been down this road many times over the years, but the stress wears on you in a mighty way. I’m trusting in God’s goodness to open another door when this one closes.

Now, that this is behind us, maybe things will look up for us. I’m joining Les from Time Out For Mom for Tuesday Coffee Chat this with this morning’s prompt: …The last thing you took a picture of — why did you capture this image?   Show your work!

I haven’t taken many photos in weeks. In December while on my hiatus with DH, we managed to get up with DD#2 and her husband. We went for an evening walk at a park in Farragut. They had the path lit with Christmas lights. The walk was brisk, but fun. The park was busier than I anticipated, especially since it was after Christmas. Anywho, we went to another park with similar lights afterwards and I snapped this photo with my iPhone

Christmaslights copy
I intentionally clipped off the large lighted evergreen in the foreground to drawn the eye to toward the moon peaking from behind the clouds and lights in the background.

That’s a wrap for this morning. I’m hopping over to Stacy’s for Random Tuesday Thoughts and you’re welcome to join me, if you want. Have a terrific Tuesday!

I’m so sorry about your sucky threes, Cathy! Happy that the first one with DD#1 was resolved – apparently I was kind of like her after I moved out of my parents house, they were *thisclose* to filing a missing persons report on me when they didn’t know I’d gone out of town for the weekend, and I didn’t let them know I was going to be gone – even though I’d been out on my own for a couple of years by then. 🙂 I’m so glad your instinct was that she was OK, and that she WAS. Hopefully she won’t make you worry like that again in the future. 😉

Sorry about your hubby’s tooth – that doesn’t sound like very much fun. But good thing he did bring it to the attention of the doctor before it became a major (like abscessed with infection).

Contractors really do ride a roller coaster ride, don’t they? My uncle is a contractor, and my aunt is always lamenting when there’s no work to be done, because when you don’t work, you don’t get paid. I’ll keep you both in my thoughts and prayers for sure! ((HUGZ!!))

BEAUTIFUL shot!! Like Les, I noticed the peekaboo moon right away – thanks to your clever cropping skillz, of course. 😉 That shot should be framed and hanging on the wall during the Christmas season, or made into a Christmas card! 🙂

oh my Lord, sounds like your life is/was a lot like mine. I sure hope your hubby isn’t out as long as my hubby was though 🙁 And it seems like everything happened when my hubby was out of work including the dentist for both of us. 🙁 ooooo girlfriend my heart sooooooo goes out to you and I just added you and your family to my special prayer list. Man, I tell you me & the Lord is starting to know each other pretty good now being as so many people needs prayers. HUGS MY FRIEND! Any time you wanna talk I’m here for ya! Love the photo by the way… with all the cold and snow over here by me (it was snowing this morning & last night) people hate to let go of Christmas. LOL

Well hello and Happy New Year – I’m sorry I’m a tad slow on getting going with the years blogging…. glad to hear life has warmed up & had a chuckle about the police with the missing persons report, that’s one good idea to get the kids to phone home!! Ouch for the root canal and ouch again for the costs, here’s hoping that new door opens soon for your DH and for a wonderful year for you all.

Very pretty photo! I am so sorry to hear about DH’s job, but I truly think something even better will be around the corner. I’ve been debating on whether or not to make a similar post, or series of posts, on my own blog. I am so, so, so glad your husband is getting another implant and that your daughter was found, though! That’s stressful stuff right there!

Oh thank goodness your daughter was okay!! I would say something about her behaviour, except I remember being very much like that back in my university days. I am sure my mother must have worried herself sick from time to time. You just are careless with such things when wrapped up in your own world. A little experience usually corrects that. 🙂

Boy – I could use your hubby up here! Guess what? You cannot have a shower next to an electrical panel!! that’s the latest thing we learned. Good grief – who built my house – Elmo? So, eventually (because WHOA – expensive redo) either our bathroom has to move; or the electrical panel. All because somebody just might get it into their head to try and electrocute themselves in the shower. SMH.

Love the shot! And I did immediately notice that peek a boo moon! My iPhone definitely does not take great night shots like that. I doubt it would have even captured the lights.

I’m sorry to hear about your threes, well, at least one has a good ending already (DD#1) and the 2nd one is being treated (DH) and as for the 3rd, I am keeping my fingers crossed. Changes do happen for a reason, I believe that. And, like you said, you went through this before and you will come out of it stronger again.
