Monday's Music Moves Me

Motivation Monday on the #4M dance floor!

Welcome to 🎸Mondays Mewsic Moves Me on Sunday🎸!  Our theme this week is ‘Motivation Monday‘, tunes that get your moving to do work, exercise, or whatever else it inspires you to do.

When I clean or do other house chores, I like to do so to the beat of the rhythm that moves me happily from task to task or from room to room.  I found 101 Greatest Housework Songs in Google search which you can buy on Amazon, so using the album titles I created a YT Motival Monday Playlist for you this morning. Hit play to listen to all selections!

This list is for my benefit in case a mewsic video is pulled from YT then I’ll know instantly which one needs to be plugged back into place.

  1. Heartbeat Song (Kelly Clarkson)
  2. Drive By (Train)
  3. Footloose (Kenny Loggins)
  4. Raise Your Glass (P!nk)
  5. On Top of the World (Imagine Dragons)
  6. Funkytown (Lipps Inc)
  7. Centerfold (J. Geils Band)
  8. Heart of Glass (Blondie)
  9. Dancing in the Streets (Martha Reeves & the Vandellas)
  10. Africa (Toto)

On behalf of the 4M crew (1st six linky spots), we’re so happy you joined our party today.  Let me say a special thank you to Kim for doing a songsational job as this month’s honorary co-host! 👏 It was a blast to have you on board and we hope you’ll do it again!

🎶  This is a mewsic linky party, all other posts are subjected for removal or labeled – NO MUSIC! 🎶

Keep those tunes playing, your body swaying, and I’ll be boogieing over to see you soon.  Please join me tomorrow with the A2Z letter prompt ‘Y‘ in my The Little Mermaid Art Sketch series. Have a sparkletastic day!  😉

Ohhhh Cathy! I’m saving your playlist, because you have so many of my favorites on there! Thanks for the motivation! 😉 And that teeny tiny baby octopus is so cuuuuuuute!!! Hope you’re having a great weekend! 🙂

  • Kim

Now those tunes will get ya movin’ for sure! Thanks for letting me be the host for party this month; I hope I’m able to do it again someday – in the meantime, I’ll be trying to think of more themes that maybe haven’t been done before.

  • Birgit

The octopus is so cute which makes me think how much we need to protect all wildlife. These are great songs to work with while dusting (blecch to dusting) and cleaning. I love ZZ Top, ABBA, 80’s music mix. i also like Stevie Ray Vaughan and George Thorogood plus the Bat Out of Hell album by Meatloaf

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Birgit,

There are a lot of great tunes from the 80s to get you to your feet while making mundane house chores more fun. 🙂 We watched a movie on Netflix last weekend featuring Meatloaf as a bad character in “The Squeeze” with Michael Keaton. It was a fun movie. 🙂

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Mimi,

It’s so neat that some life form can be so small as this baby octopus which is really quite adorable. Like a lot of babies animals that start off really cute the octopus is no exception in that it will eventually morph into an unattractive creature as an adult.

  • XmasDolly

You have totally rocked the house girlfriend. Kelly Clarkson new one or I just haven’t heard it yet. Very cool. Luvin’ your cleaning hse song list for sure. Especially Pink… woo hoo! Footloose oooooooooweeeeeeeee stop my feet!!! hahaha Okay, I’m outta breath…. have a great day girlfriend!!! YOU ROCK!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Marie,

I’m glad you found enough energy to stop off to dance with me last night. We went to bed early since we didn’t get much sleep Sunday night. I was doggone tired. I’m sipping my first cup of Joe for the day. True, I’m doin’ things earlier this morning but DH decided to go into work early since he’s trying to make up for time loss before his dental surgery tomorrow. I’m sure he’ll be wiped out and will need to take Thursday off.

  • Sandee

I love Kelly. I’ll have to listen to your music playlist.

Aw, on that little cutie pie. So precious.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday, my friend. Love and hugs. ♥

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Sandee,

I know you’re super busy with making rounds with your very popular Awww Mondays’ visitors, so thank you for finding the time to pop in for a dance, dearie! 😉

  • John Holton

Hey, I knew most of these! Toto’s an excellent band… I’m surprised that “Rosanna” wasn’t on that list, but “Africa” was a great song, I don’t care who you are. Good set!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      John,

‘Rosanna’ is a good song but for my motivational set, it just didn’t quite cut it this go around. Of course, another day it might have very well been thrown in the mix. It’s all in the mood. 🙂 Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, partner!

  • angelswhisper2011

No footlose at all, my feet are moving, can’t wait to clean up the house…again…CK 😀 Africa is such a great song, good background when Granny is cooking or just listening to good music. Great choises! Pawkisses for a happy, sunny day🐾😽💞

  • aisasami

Hey Cathy, happy Monday! Neat playlist. I usually listen to music when I am working on my blog, like now (Selena is playing!)

    • aisasami

I also like Kelly Clarkson, who I was cheering on when she first appeared on the first season of American Idol seventeen years ago. I am sad that got a lot of negativity about her body image in recent years because she is beautiful jkust the way she,.

      • Cathy Kennedy

        Amy,

Shame on anyone who belittles another for their size – fat or skinny. The problem goes deeper than the surface. I find that no matter what size you are, you have to like who you are inside first to fix the outside. So, don’t listen to what others are saying about you. Be happy. Be confident. Above everything else, love yourself. You have to love yourself to move forward to be the best you can be.

  • Alana Mautone (@RamblinGarden)

Nothing – and I mean nothing, could adequately motivate me to do housework. Well, maybe company coming may do that, but that isn’t a song. The last five sons are all time favorites – and, of course, Footloose – of the others, I think I liked Kelly Clarkson’s the best. But I’m still not going to do housework!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Alana,

Company is always motivation to get me cleaning but there are things that need my attention regularly so I find mewsic helps to make the job more enjoyable. 🙂 Thanks for dancing with me, my friend!

  • 15andmeowing

I like your choices. Nothing seems to motivate me though, especially to exercise.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Ellen,

It’s hard to get motivated to exercise sometimes. Sometimes it just has to be forced and then after you do it for a few days straight, it becomes easier until you’re lookin’ forward to do it the next day and the next. 😉 Thanks for boogieing with me.

  • DrillerAA

Martha & the Vandellas brings back a few memories of good times on the dance floor. Footloose was a great tune and movie. Thanks for the music. Have a blessed week.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Driller,

Mewsic has a way of stirring the good old days, doesn’t it? For me, it’s more of feeling than a memory but there are exceptions to that. It was only in recent years that saw the Footloose production but bought the soundtrack years ago. Kevin Bacon is great in it!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Jacqui,

I don’t know how clever my playlist is but it does get ya movin’, doesn’t it? With me if the tunes have a beat then I’m sure to get groovin’. Thanks for visiting, my friend!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Eugenia,

I find just about any mewsic great motivation when I’m doing stuff around the house. I like listening to what my blogger buds share which is a great way to multitask. 🙂 I love Zumba! I have several exercise videos but would love to get groovin’ with them again but I’m gonna have to wait until we get into another place. Our living room has grown a bit tight for space in recent years. Thanks for sharing the motivational video!

  • Thomas Anderson

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy 4M Monday on Sunday, dear friend! Aren’t you publishing this Monday post a day LATE? I thought you moved the feature to SATURDAYS! 🙂 I enjoyed your Motivation Monday play list. As I listened to the driving beat of these songs it occurred to me that they would also work well pacing exercise routines. This is the kind of music they play at fitness club spin classes. My favorites are the last 5 songs. Four out of five were popular in the late 70s and early 80s during my second stint as a bachelor. “Funkytown” was huge in dance clubs I went to during that period. The mewsic video for “Centerfold” was played in heavy rotation on MTV and helped turn the new medium into a cultural phenomenon. As you might recall J. Geils died two years ago. The international smash breakthrough hit “Heart of Glass” by Debbie Harry and Blondie is another major song on the soundtrack of my second bachelorhood. “Dancing in the Streets” takes me back to my mid teens in the mid 60s when Motown exploded in popularity thanks in part to this international hit by The Vandellas. The evocative song “Africa” inspires me, and the band name, Toto, reminds me of my wonderful pet, now “immortalized” on my blog as the character “Toto-Moto.”

Bless that tiny octopus. The newborn creature reminds us that we need to protect the environment and preserve endangered wildlife species in our oceans and on land.

Happy Sunday, dear friend Cathy. I’ll see you tamale as you race toward the A to Z finish line!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Tom,

Thanks for hitting the 4M dance floor on Sunday. You asked if I published a day late. No, I normally go with Sunday at 12am as my scheduled slot. You might be thinking about the goof I made a few weeks ago when I accidentally set it for Saturday at 12am. I’ve done this sort of thing on occasion for various posts, so I just let it go as is unless I screw up really bad like the date is totally wrong. I’ve done that before, too. Luckily I catch those mistakes fairly quickly. Anyhow, I’m happy you enjoyed my motivational playlist. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!
