Meet Me On Monday

This is your change to play along with your readers – a get to know me/you meme. Every Sunday Never Growing Old will post five get to know you questions that you can copy and paste into your own Monday post.

This week’s questions and answers.

1. Are you excited for the holidays or are you dreading them?

I absolutely love the holidays despite how hectic the season. I try to not let the hustle and bustle wear me down. In fact the only part I dread the most is the food. To be more specific the goodies. I just love, love to make sweets for the holidays and it goes without saying I add a few unwanted pounds.  This is like a nightmare for me, because it’s such a struggle to get off a single pound even though I am relatively active. This year, I promise…yes, I’ve said this before in the past…I promise to be more in check with what I’m eating and how much I’m eating. Maybe, I should force myself to post my weight on my blog just before Thanksgiving and then again after the first of the year. Perhaps, I’ll feel more accountable this way. Nah, probably not! Besides, I do a weekly weight in and who else other than my darling husband knows precisely what the scale is doing. Now, this keeps me on my toes. I always want to look my best for my sweetie!

2. Do you hit the snooze button or get right up?

The alarm clock is usually set only during the week. I can’t afford to snooze for five extra minutes in the morning, as I’m responsible for making sure my DH gets up on time. This has been my routine from the beginning of time or so it seems. I’m the morning person in this family. This is when I really shine.  I’m notorious for singing…”Rise and shine the sun is in your eyes, get up, get up, get up you sleepy head!”  My children always groaned when I came into the room chirping this rhyme. My husband on the other hand, simply smiles. Isn’t he the sweetest?

3. Do you still have your tonsils?

Tonsils screen grab from WebMD

Believe it or not, yes, yes I still have my tonsils. I was horribly sick as a kid and I’m surprised somehow I managed to keep my tonsils. My brother had his tonsils and adenoids removed when he was younger and it even seems like he had tubes put in  his ears. I think by the time these procedures were more widely performed the doctors may have felt I was too old for them. Oh well…I have everything and knock-on-wood I am not prone to colds or ear infections like I was eons ago.

4. What was the last piece of candy that you ate?

A couple of days ago, I had a piece a pineapple sugar-free lifesavers. These are tasty little candies, if you haven’t tried them and you like the idea of reduced calories then try these. There is only 6 calories in one piece of candy.

5. Do you shop at thrift stores?

Shopping…shopping in stores retail or thrift it doesn’t make any difference. I don’t like shopping for clothes or anything. Whenever I do need to buy clothing or things for the home, then chances are I’ll do  it online ONLY. This is far more convenient and less crazy for me to do.  I think it’s wonderful there are thrift stores for people to do some serious bargain shopping in, especially for small children. Parents or grandparents can find some nice looking clothes really cheap at these places, I’m sure. Why pay full price on children’s appeal when they are going to outgrow it in a month’s time anyhow? Lucky for us, I kept all of our nice children’s clothes and I was able to dress our second daughter practically free since she wore her sister’s hand-me downs. By the time our third child enter the picture, we had to start fresh since we had a boy. The nicest of his things we are still hanging on to because one day, we may be able to hand them down to his little boy.  I have a picture of my son wearing an outfit which belonged to his daddy.

That winds up my Q&A session for this Monday. I hope you’ll decide to join me in Java’s fun. Oh yeah, hop over to Java’s blog to grab her blog button to include in your post, then link up below…remember to use your blog URL, not your main blog address, and hop to as many blogs as you want!

If you have a questions/suggestions, please email Java at: nevergrowingold@hotmail.com and if she uses your question, then she’ll give a shout out for recognition of your contribution.

Have a marvelous day!

  1. Hi Cathy,
thanks for visiting this week. I too love the holidays and can’t wait for it to start. Those candy look so tempting.

  2. I don’t use an alarm clock… Alex takes his wake up call very serious… I am lucky if he lets me sleep until 4:30

  3. Hello there Cathy and thank you for visiting me….I will certainly look for the lifesavers you mentioned. I struggle with my weight, also, and I’m always interested in something sweet doesn’t count much…also if I put them in the cookie/candy jar, Honey Bear will not know they’re sugar free…he could cut down some, also…He is the morning person in our house..I ask him to wake me on days I need to be up early so I don’t have to be so rudely awakened by the alarm.
    Cute blog!

No one else seems to like that but they’d surely see the mess of it if I wasn’t like that to get thigns rolling and out the door 🙂
