Monday's Music Moves Me

Life is magical

Cute critters make life magical. Participating in Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus

How was your weekend?  Ours was fun. We spent Friday night in Greensboro, NC and early on Saturday we got up to stand in line to try to be one the lucky 100 people to get wristbands for Richard Petty’s autograph at Petty Fest 2023.  I hope to pull together together a quick post of our weekend events to share soon.  Speaking of the weekend, for anyone who missed it my mid-month BOTB went live on Saturday. 😉  Now, that we’re on the subject of music, Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me, friends!

I found inspiration on an inactive blog for today’s theme.  The author posed the question, what makes life magical to you?  Borrowing from this, I am asking you to build a playlist of songs that represents what makes life magical for you.

What makes life magical to me?  The beauty in a sunrise… watching clouds pass …  night skywatching… a gorgeous sunset…. the power of love… the imagination… and, God!  I pulled together 10-songs that spoke to me in the moment. Maybe the song title or a phrase in the lyrics.  Hit play to enjoy the magic of music!

Life is magical playlist – 1. Simply Red ~ SUNRISE 2. Paul Hardcastle ~ CLOUD WATCHING 3. Owl City ~ SHOOTING STAR 4. Air Supply ~ SUNSET 5. The Drifters ~ THIS MAGIC MOMENT 6. Michael Bublé ~ FOREVER NOW 7. Nichole Nordeman ~ SLOW DOWN 8. Gene Wilder ~ PURE IMAGINATION 9. Jukebox the Ghost ~ LET US CREATE 10. Hillsong United ~ SO WILL I (100 BILLION X)

This is a music link up.  Your 4M party hostess are now featured in my right side menu near the top.   Every other week we have a suggested music theme to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our music enthusiasts.  Themes aren’t mandatory to gain access to the dance floor but failure to meet the basic guideline (post must contain music) puts your URL in danger of being labeled – NO MUSIC.

4M design by Cathy Kennedy

Life’s magical moments had me busy preparing for a weekend out of town. This is my on week for artwork but unless I find the energy to pull together that post then it’s safe to say you won’t see me again until next week same time. Thanks stopping by the 4M party.  This is CAAC signing off,  so have a boogietastic day!  X💋X💋, Cathy

Sparks of encouragement

Awwww, what a sweet cat/skunk video. Kudos to those with the patience, persistence, and love to do animal rescue. Nice playlist. It’s interesting how many of the magical playlists turned out to be gentle/easy listening. Simply Red and Paul Hardcastle were my favorites. Slow Down captured the feelings all parents have from time to time “please don’t grow up so fast!” Alana ramblinwitham

      Alana,

People who do animal rescue have special hearts. I’m sure the work is rewarding in itself. I enjoyed everyone’s playlists this week and each one interrupted the theme with their personal style. Thanks for boogieing with me, darlin’!

      Marie,

The reason only few have visited you is if they tried to use the URL that you provided then it does not take them where they need to be to view your post content. Don’t worry, though. I deleted the wrong one and added the correct one. 😉

You’re so right, John is a great person and very smart. It’s nice to have him in our circle of blogging buds.

Our trip was nice. I hope to share pictures soon. I have too much going on get a comprehensive post together this week but I’m working on my art share for Thursday. I may include one of the photos under my Thankful Thursday section.

Thanks for stopping by and googie on girlfriend!

          Marie,

You’re doing fine. Don’t worry about it, you’ll get back into the groove before no time. Just look how far you’ve come! My next post on Maine is set for next Wednesday. 😉

      Brian,

Simply Red seems like a new discovery to me but I’m not completely sure. I need to listen to more of their music. Thanks for popping over for a visit.

  • John Holton

Good playlist that leads off with a couple of my faves, Simply Red and Paul Hardcastle!

Yes, kittens and skunks get along really well. Skunk spray is almost as strong as cat’s spray, based on my one experience with the latter….

    • Cathy Kennedy

      John,

I had forgotten about a cat’s spray being strong. Our kitty ruined the carpet in one of the rooms of our house doing that and it had to be replaced. Thanks for stopping by to enjoy the music and join the party, my friend.

  • Birgit Bedesky

I know that tv show where you have the skunk and the kittens. I loved watching that show and just realized it’s not on the air any more I would so help out at that rescue place. Skunks are cute and loved that Bambi visited.
Your music is really nice and Willy Wonka was a bit devious but I do love that song.
This is my Oscar week but maybe I can find a year where a fav of mine that makes me think magical will be part of it…will see:)

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Birgit,

That’s what made the movie Willy Wonka funny. He was devious but he was teaching kids who watched the movie the value of being a nice boy or girl. I don’t care if you’re in theme, if you have music to share then we want to hear it! So, be sure to link up, k’? 😉

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Robin,

The skunk made me think of Peppy LePue and the black female cat, Penelope. This is a cute video of the critters interaction and curiosities. Thanks for visiting and joining the 4M party, my dear. 😉

  • Sandee

Awww on such adorable critters. Love that video.

Love your playlist. Love all those magical things too. Beautiful.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Hugs. ♥

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Sandee,

Thanks for coming by the dance party. I’m glad you enjoyed the music and the cute critter video for Awww Mondays. Have an awwwesom week, my friend!

  • Thomas Anderson

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Paw-some 4M Monday, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend.

Awww… I just wanna smooch that potbellied pig, the fawn, the kittens and even that little skunk! Isn’t it sweet how the mommy cat welcomed the baby skunk into her family of kittens? Would you keep a skunk in the house, Cathy? 🙂 That was a heartwarming video, and I thank you for posting.

So, I see that you and DH were out of town and out of state over the weekend, visiting Greensboro, NC. I look forward to seeing and reading highlights of that trip.

I enjoyed your set of magical songs. I well remember Mick Hucknall as the face and voice of Simply Red, the British soul and pop band that made an impact in 1985 with the hit singles “Money’s Too Tight” and “Holding Back The Years,” the latter a heavily requested video on our MTV station. “Sunrise” was released 20 years ago, and is basically a reworking of the 1981 Hall & Oates hit “I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do).” It also samples another familiar hit, “How Long” by Ace. That sexy video was shot on the outskirts of Rio. British composer and musician Paul Hardcastle also made a splash in 1985 with his international chart-topping hit anti-war song “19” which I had on a 12-inch single and played at parties during my stint as a freelance DJ. The smooth jazz sound of “Cloud Watching” (one of your favorite activities) is the polar opposite from Paul’s intense and disturbing “19.” Air Supply’s mellow “Sunset” could be thought of as an answer song to Simply Red’s “Sunrise.” It’s neat that you posted the boomer oldie “This Magic Moment” by The Drifters. An equally good version was released by Jay And The Americans and it’s coming up at Shady’s Place. I am certain that Nichole’s “Slow Down” song and video made you think about LA as well as your own kiddos, now all grown up and out of the nest. It’s a touching piece. You’re right, dear friend. For magic, you can’t beat that song by Gene Wilder and that colorful scene from the 1971 children’s fantasy movie Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory. Magic also describes the dreamy sound of the DC-based power pop/indie pop trio Jukebox The Ghost. They sound a lot like ELO to me.

FYI – tomorrow is a very important birthday observance at Shady’s Place Music & Memories. I hope you can stop by. If you keep your Thursday Art Date With Rain, I’ll be here. Thank you very much for the smiles and great sounds for a Monday morning. Have a wonderful week, dear friend Cathy!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Tom,

You take the early bird award by being my first commenter. It’s always pleasure to find your visit straight away. I thought Simply Red’s opening sounds a bit like a Hall & Oats and I’m glad that you cleared that up for me. I definitely don’t remember Simply Red in their heydays. When I get a chance I’ll hop over to YT to listen to their hits you mentioned. Maybe, that’ll jog my memory. I’m delighted you enjoyed the playlist. I am heading your way to check out the birthday observation post running on SPMM! Have a boogietastic week, dear friend!
