Battle of the Bands

Oops, I Did It Again Again

Good morning, folks! You’re probably thinking either, “Am I’m having déjà vu?” or “Looks like Cathy made an oops.”  It’s neither.  While comparing artists’ covers of Britney Spears top 10 hit for my battle earlier in the month, I found a few instrumental versions I liked and thought it would be a good follow-up battle. Listen to decide which rendition you prefer.

Contender #1 Acoustic Guitars

Contender #2 JHM Jams, violins & cellists

JHM Jams Cover

The polls close Apr. 21st at noon ET!

Which string rendition did you like best, the acoustic guitars or the violins and cellists?

All participating BOTBers are listed in my side menu, but not all put up a mid-month battle.  I’ll announce the winner in this round on Apr 24th in my Monday’s Music Moves Me time slot so watch for it.  Speaking of which, why not join me on the dance floor this Monday!

Thanks for playing along.  This is CAAC signing off,  have a boogietastic weekend! X💋X💋, Cathy

I’m a little behind on my mail, but I just found this one, and I chose the fiddles! Wow! They did a magnificent job! Thanks for sharing. I almost started to laugh, but then I listened instead. I really enjoyed it! Thanks Cat. HUGS

    CAThy! It’s that me!!

Thanks so much for the heads-up about this Battle. I nearly forgotted about the mid-month Battles again. (I think it’s all the aluminum nanoparticles I’ve been inhaling from chemtrails for decades that has diminished my memory. I’m sure it has nut’n to do with the high-octane bourbon that I have for breakfast every day… and twice on Sundays. 😉

Wow! That first Contender – “ACOUSTIC GUITARS” (clever name!) – was really beautiful!

The second Contender – JHM Jams (what kind of name is that?) – was very nice also, but I definitely prefered the delicate beauty of the those Acoustic Guitars.

Now, I has a question: How come I like EVERY cover version I’ve heard of ‘Oops, I Did It Again’ much, much better’n the original by Britney Spears?! I’m starting to get the feeling that maybe I’m just not a Britney fan. Could that be? Is that even possible? :^D

      Stephen,

It’s not too late to improve your memory. Put the high octane bourbon away, ‘k? 🙂 I seriously doubt that’s the problem for memory issues. I think it’s where we have too much on the mind which makes it easy for it to slip. I sure do a lot of that myself. I’m with you, I like all the covers much, much better than the original. Britney Spears earlier works are a bit annoying to listen to. I have no clue if she’s any better these days. With your bote for Acoustic Guitars the battle is once again tied! Thanks for visiting, my friend!

      Diedre,

With your vote for Acoustic Duo you’ve leveled out the numbers. How interesting this battle started off strong for JHM Jams and now things it’s a tie!

  • Birgit

I love both but I really enjoyed the acoustic guitars and could picture being in a cafe hearing this. I love the violins but, this time, my heart goes to the Guitar Men.

  • Arlee Bird

Both versions are nice, but I’m partial to violin music & string ensembles. I vote for the second version by JHM.

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Saturday, dear friend! I remember you told us you would be M.I.A. in the Blogosphere all weekend. I hope wherever you and DH are, you are having a great time.

Oops, you did it again. You found two worthy instrumental versions of the Britney Spears hit to compete in your mid month band battle. The first act, the acoustic duo, offers a stripped down, bare bones, no nonsense rendition that was pleasing to the ears. However, I found there was much more to like in the performance of act #2, the string group JHM Jams. Their interpretation of the familiar tune was refreshingly different, full of life, nicely played, and they all seemed to be having fun as they performed it. Therefore, I give my vote to JHM Jams!

Thank you for the musical offerings to kick-off the weekend, dear friend Cathy. Stay safe, have fun and I’ll be back to see you on the dance floor when Monday’s Music Moves Me at CAAC!

      Tom,

Thanks for being the early bird on Saturday in my newest battle. I’m happy to know that you enjoyed both instrumental renditions of Britney’s hit song. The first vote goes to JHM Jams! 🙂
