Friday Fun Stuff

Let it snow

Hello! I’m rolling my Friday Funnies into my Friday Fun Stuff today which probably will make this post longer than usual.  Call it the snowball effect if you will. 😆  I think many parts of the country got some accumulation and those that didn’t definitely felt the frigid fingers of old man winter.  It sure has been cold and we’re not quite out of the deep freeze yet.

Do you have your morning coffee?  Excellent, check out my responses to this week’s Friendly Fill-ins.

1. My focus word for 2022 is gratitudeWho am I kidding, I don’t have a “focus word”?  Gratitude is an attitude that I try to have every day of my life but there’s no reason I can’t strive to keep my appreciations at the forefront.  It’s good to take notice and to give praise of one’s blessings.  God deserves credit for the goodness, so I want to make sure He knows just how thankful I am.

2. This year I want to learn more about anything and everything.  That’s pretty encompassing but I do like learning about whatever peaks my curiosity. We’ll see where this road will lead me.

3. I at home during the first week of 2022.  I’m really glad we’ve been home.  This week has been so cold and snowy.  Often January is harsh the first couple of weeks and then things settle down a bit.  I’m hoping that’s what happens.  Right now our forecast is showing some chilly conditions through mid-month.

4. In this season of my life, I am doing alright.  When I was a young(er) I thought age 60 was a long way off but it sneaked up on me fast somehow.  I guess in the eyes of a kid I’m an old person. However, I don’t feel “old”.  I admit that cursed mirror of mine has some old gal popping in on me on occasion but for the most part my reflection has a certain youthfulness.  My brain is probably lying to  me.  It doesn’t matter because I feel good.  I’m healthy, happy, and loved.  What more could I want?

Each week, Lorraine and Ellen crank out four blank statements for us to copy, paste, and to fill-in our answers to share with the community. Why not join the fun?!

Let’s kick off the weekend early with some giggles and since Mother Nature is set on making life miserable, then why not laugh my head off with these bits of Friday Funnies.

I’m going to leave you with a song parody by the hilariously creative geniuses, The Holderness family, “We Suck In Colder Weather”.  Tomorrow swing by to see how your favorite artist did in January 1st BOTB.   Stay safe, keep warm, and have a funtastic Friday, dear friends! X💋X💋, Cathy

Love all your funnies and fill ins. I agree about age creeping up. I will be 71 this year and very relieved to still be here.

A great post. Love the funnies and all that you wrote. Yes, age sneaks up and you wonder where it all went. I will be 70 in a few months, and it is just not in my brain that I am this old. I still feel 30 something. Have a wonderful day today.

Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I know how you feel about age, at 52, I feel about 12 mentally. 🙂 Gratitude is good to always have, I figure anyone in this country with access to a computer has it pretty darn good compared to the rest of the world. XO

Love all the funnies. Love the snow tires and head south one the best.

Love your fill-ins and especially #4. I’m 70 and it sneaked up on me very fast too.

The video cracked me up. I laughed out loud.

Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Fun Stuff Friday, dear friend!

Wouldn’t you know it? I have a morning doctor appointment again today, and won’t be able to devote as much time as I’d like to your Sillies and musings. I’m sure you understand. I didn’t see anything in this morning’s post about LA, so I assume the news is good and that she is AOK and on the mend after that scary auto mishap. I also hope DD2 is feeling better up in Maine, and hope you haven’t lost power in this latest snow storm.

Crabby Maxine made me laugh complaining about all the snow and those who wish for it and welcome it. (As a kid, I was one of them. My mother dreaded school “snow days.”) I agree with that kitty in the second cartoon. I can’t get my eyes open and get rolling for the day w/o a few cups of strong black coffee.

I appreciate your answers to the Friendly Friday Fill-ins. I share your excitement over learning about anything and everything. One of the things that gets me out of bed in the morning is the expectation that I will learn more about my world and my friends.

Yessum, when we were young, age 60 seemed like a long way off. It arrived much sooner than expected. Wait and see how quickly the years pass until you reach 70. Now at 72, I am marching steadily toward 80, and can’t fathom it. I think it is very important for us to keep viewing ourselves and thinking of ourselves as young. I also love the part of your answer in which you state that you are “healthy, happy, and loved.” You are absolutely right. If you can check those three boxes, you have everything that matters. You don’t need a pot of gold.

That’s a great cartoon of the dog impatiently waiting for the snowman to throw something for him to fetch, and the related meme showing the dog ripping off the snowman’s tree branch arms. Great “Tips for Driving in the Snow.” I was just telling another friend that I haven’t seen a snowflake since 2001 when I flew back to PA to attend my father’s funeral. The kitty in the next cartoon got it right. All summer long, Mrs. Shady complains about the heat. All winter long, she complains about the cold. I enjoyed the Holderness clan’s song about the ordeal southerners go through when it’s cold and snowy.

Thanks for the morning giggles, dear friend Cathy. I’ll be back tamale to find out who won your latest band battle. Have a wonderful day!

      Tom,

I’m sorry you have to get out today. I know y’all probably have a chillier than usual start this morning. These frigid temps are terrible but the good news is I don’t think we’re going to reach the forecasted lows this morning given yesterday. It’s currently 21.4º which is awful but you know 13º is worse. I’m happy if it doesn’t get any colder. I can’t see out my window this morning but last night at dusk it looked like an inch of snow covered everything and our street was a mess. It sure did make me grateful knowing DH doesn’t have to get out that stuff this morning.

I texted DD#1 a little yesterday and found out LA is doing well who was unaffected by the previous evening ordeal. DD#1 was quite sore. The airbag in the steering wheel deployed and she hit her right knee on the dash at impact. I also learned that an on-coming car was in her lane at the precise moment that she was making a turn onto that road. Her instant was to swerve to miss the vehicle or else it would’ve been a head on collision which forced her off the road striking a pole on the passenger side. The paramedic told her LA probably got the cut over her eye from something that flew up like her sippy cup in the car since she was securely strapped in her car seat. The damage to her vehicle sounds relatively mild and it is driveable. What angers me is that driver did not stop. It’s always possible he/she did not even see what happened because obviously his/her inattentiveness or maybe they just didn’t care to. We’ll never know. She had witnesses on the scene to help and collaborated with the authority so that’s good. As for DD#2, I haven’t gotten any reports in a day on how she’s feeling. I suspect she’s doing a lot of sleeping. This symptoms are very much like a bad cold or flu and we know how that makes one feel. I appreciate you asking.

I’m glad you enjoyed the funnies. Mrs. Shady sounds like me. I complain about the heat of summer and the cold of winter. I never seem happy with the weather. lol Thanks for dropping by this morning, my friend. Have a funtastic Friday!
