Thursday Art Date

Snow Date TADwR

I’m dragging my heels this week.  The past couple of months I’ve been so wrapped up with tightening our online presence switching out our email addresses at all important websites to an encrypted email service and giving each site a unique password.  The password manger I used generated some strong ones giving me the confidence that these accounts are now more secure.  It’s exhausting work.  I have a handful of places yet to finish up.  I’m ready to get this done and on with my life again.

I managed to make a few return visits in Blogosphere.  I keep questioning my posting frequency, do I post daily or get back to every other day?  Right now, I’m burned out with everything which makes it difficult to find the motivation to do much of anything but I know I’d regret sitting on the sideline and will make a reasonable attempt to get back into the game.

Today, I’m sharing with Rain’s Thursday Art Date community and you my sketch for this week’s theme, snowman.  I took the liberty to give my snowman a snow woman calling my illustration, “Snow Date”.

I haven’t had a lot of time to doodle so this was a welcome treat to relaxingly sketch my snow couple on a snow date.  Do you know this is my first snowman illustration? Well…as an adult.  I’m sure I drew snowmen when I was kid.  My inspiration was DH and I thought about I feel when I’m with him, like it’s our first date.  We’ve been together for almost 45 years and all but two of those years we’ve been a married couple.  It’s great that we share the same passion after all this time.

I meant to write “CAAC” on the snowman’s ball cap while I was drawing the scene but forgot. I was able to add this detail using Pixelmator Pro and while fooling around with the app I liked the results of some filter settings and I couldn’t resist not sharing these with you

As you can see, I had fun and I think it’s so cool what you can do with photo-editing.  Being creative is what makes me happy and I’m really ready to get this side kicked in again.

I’m thankful for a wonderful holiday season.  We enjoyed a quiet time of togetherness and although we weren’t with the family, I’m thankful everyone is in good health or for the most part.  Our youngest daughter who lives in Maine has Covid again.  She says it’s not as bad as the first time around but still it’s awful, so that it is reason to be thankful.   Most if not all of my nieces, nephew, and their families who all live near my folks have had it and somehow my parents with their high risk health issues, God’s intervention I’m sure, has missed the Covid bullet.  THAT is reason to be thankful for!  Another blessings and while I don’t know all the details yet, DD#1 and LA had an accident early yesterday evening.  They are okay.  LA needed 5-stitches above her left brow.  I’m thankful the outcome wasn’t worse.

I’m thankful for a new year.  I complain about the hands of time seeming to speed by and it really does feel that way but at the same token I’m thankful for each day of life I’m given and seeing a new year come is is definitely a blessing.

I’m thankful with the first snowfall of 2022 wasn’t too bad.  We got 3-4 inches of wet, clingy snow,  our morning lows on Monday was below freezing and our electricity was knocked out for several hours but we live in a house and a warm bed to stay in until the power came on.  I’m very thankful for our home.  I’m also very thankful that Monday was DH’s off-day and didn’t have to take a day of leave but even more so I’m thankful that he works from home and doesn’t have to be out in bad weather.

I’m thankful DS has Mondays off, so he didn’t have to be out in that mess.

I’m thankful for all we have!  I know there is someone somewhere who is less fortunate than us.  I know what it is like to fall on hard times.  It’s not fun.  I’m so grateful and thankful for God’s goodness.

Our forecast is calling for another snow storm for us with a winter storm advisory from noon to 7am tomorrow.  I hope our power and Internet stay on, if this comes to pass.  I’m ready for spring!  Alright, I’m heading over to Rain’s Garden to browse the gallery of artistry.   Tomorrow, I’ll be back with my newest edition of Friday Fun Stuff.  Have a doodletastic day! Hi Cathy! ☺ I love your snow couple! Yes, we were both in a romantic mood this week it seems lol! ♥♥ The Cardinal is beautiful, looking on the romantic scene! That technical stuff you’re doing is mentally exhausting. I went through a bit of that in the last few weeks too and it makes me want to shut the computer off for a long winter’s nap. I’m glad you’re almost done!!

Well, you have been missed … so glad to see you back in the saddle 🙂 I admire your efforts to be secure … maybe you could publish a list of the steps you took so those of us who are less tech savvy could work on being more secure as well. Love your snowman couple and agree with all of your thankfuls … I know how wonderful it is to have a DH to share your life with (funny that my DH’s initials are the same as yours). And yes, each day is a blessing, some more so than others, but I am happy to open my eyes and find that I am still here every morning … so far 🙂 So many Covid’s in your family … no vaccinations? Thank heaven your parents avoided it (you are blessed that your parents are still with you). So we spent our Christmas without family as well and though I missed the excitement of grandchildren, I enjoyed the peaceful and joyful time with my DH. So Happy New Year, Cathy … looking forward to your wonderful creative contributions to TAD and you always endearing comments. Be well …

I love your sketches. You’re so talented.

I quit blogging on the weekends and that helps, but it’s sometimes a full time job. I get it.

I need to secure my passwords too. It’s so hard sometimes.

I know you had a wonderful Christmas season.

Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

The snow date is so darn cute! Good for you getting those passwords organized and getting things safe and secure. It’s sure not easy these days. You have lots of good thankfuls. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

I like your fun Snow Date sketches, with all the various filters. 🙂 Blogging burnout is something I’ve experienced many times and can’t imagine posting every day or even every other day, anymore. I’m good with once a week or so. Kudos to you for slogging through! Whatever you decide, your friends and followers will always be here.

That is distressing news about both of your daughters and LA (grandchild?)! Here’s hoping they all recover well. 🤞 You have a wonderful attitude about it all and it’s true, there is always someone worse off. Gratitude helps us get through the difficult times. Sending hugs and love! 🤗

      Debbie,

Yes, LA is our little granddaughter. I often refer to her as little Angelina. DH dubbed her LA and I thought that would be a fun acronym to use for her on my blog. 🙂 I try to see the good in the bad because the bad will weigh you down in a heartbeat and being depressed is an awful place to be. I appreciate the hugs and love, my friend. You’re so sweet.

I am sorry your 2022 got off to a bumpy start, Cathy! Hopefully, it will be a smooth ride from here on out. I love your sketches and thanks for the shout out! 😘

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Thankful Thursday Art Date with Rain, dear friend!

Good heavens, Cathy! I skipped right to the parts about your daughter in Maine and your other daughter and little LA. While it’s brave of you to put a positive spin on these incidents and conclude that the outcomes for all concerned could have been worse, it is nevertheless upsetting to me to know that your daughter is down with COVID symptoms for the second time, and that DD#1 and LA were involved in an auto accident and that poor LA needed five stitches above her eyebrow. That’s no small matter for a child her age. I pray that she was not traumatized by the crash and that she will recover fully and have no residual scars, physical or emotional. I offer prayers for all of your stricken family members, Cathy. Given all that you have on your mind (and on your plate) it comes as no surprise that you are questioning how often to publish new posts. As long as you keep providing content, I’ll keep consuming it, because I consistently enjoy the material you post.

Awww, I love your drawing of the snow man and woman on a “Snow Date.” As I look around the scene, I don’t see any products that appear to have been purchased from the ACME Corporation catalog. (LOL) If the snowman was about to bop the snow woman with a giant mallet, I would think otherwise. (LOL) I admire his scarf and CAAC hat, and the red male cardinal in the tree is a nice touch.

So, getting back to your Thankful Thursday musings, I agree it is a blessing that your younger daughter has a milder case of the virus this time and that your folks have been spared its wrath. I am disturbed that your other daughter and LA were in a collision. These two unrelated incidents indicate that 2022 is getting off to a rough and rocky start for your family, and it grieves me. Enough now! I hope that’s all the misfortune you and your family will need to face this year.

I always enjoy listening to Motown marvelous Marvelettes. Thanks for posting one of their biggies – “Please, Mr. Postman,” a song successfully covered by The Beatles and by The Carpenters.

Yessum, I certainly hope your power stays on as you hunker down for another snow storm in your vicinity. You don’t need to be dealing with any more woes this early in the year. Have a safe and happy (and Thankful) Thursday, dear friend Cathy!

      Tom,

2022 is off to a bumpy start but let’s hope the ride gets smoother. This time of year things tend to go wrong more frequently with it being the sickly season and unpredictable weather. Unfortunately auto accidents of all types are ever increasing on a daily basis. People are stupid and they do not care, therefore often taking unnecessary chances to shave a second off their time to get to point B without consequences. I’m not saying that’s what happened last night because I don’t know the circumstances since I haven’t spoken with DD#1. It’s understandable that she was too tied up with other things to place a call and I know she just needed some time to chillax to collect her senses. That’s all so unnerving, especially with an injured child. Poor little thing! I hope to speak to her today to learn more. Thanks for your concerns and prayers, dear friend.

Yeah, no ACME products used in my Snow Date scene but your idea was a great one. I ought to consider doodling some such comic scenes. Thanks for the inspiration. 🙂
