Remembering How My Children’s Story Started

I remember in the early 90s when I started writing children’s stories. It seemed, The Tale of Ole Green Eyes, pretty much wrote itself. My inspiration came from a story my husband’s grandmother told us years ago about her coming face-to-face with a panther as a girl in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia stuck in my mind. Her scary tale stirred my imagination with her riveting real-life experience.

After becoming a mommy, I often told this same story to my young daughter, expected changing up it up to include them with a different scenario. They clung to every word spoken with wide eyes, loving every minute of the ride. This motivated me to write a story that would leave other kids sitting on the edge of their seat, as they read about the main characters Brittany and Nicole (named after my daughters) with their own adventure in the Appalachian Mountains with Ole Green Eyes. Soon, I can share it with you in paperback!
