Monday's Music Moves Me

It’s a Beautiful Morning anytime I think about flowers

Awww Mondays sponsored by Sandee at Comedy Plus

The seasons flipped again. Today marks the first day of spring for myself and according to my blog stats so does it for all of my readers.  In the opposite hemisphere, those folks are entering fall.  This week’s theme is songs about spring or fall

I prepared today’s post well in advance.  Not having any clue what the long term forecast will be, I’m projecting positive vibes for the return of spring with the earth’s awakening. East Tennessee weather is bouncy but one thing I know is it’s going to be beautiful morning anytime I think about flowers.  Are you ready to get this party started?  Click play to enjoy my 10-song playlist with tracks featuring song titles that include some sort of flower.

Tracks 1. It’s A Beautiful Morning ~The Rascals 2. Cherry Blossom Girl ~Air 3. Wildflowers ~Tom Petty 4. Les Fleurs ~Minnie Reperton 5. Build Me Up Buttercup ~The Foundations 6. Daisy ~Switchfoot 7. Virginia Bluebell ~Miranda Lambert 8. Blue Orchid ~The White Stripes 9. Kiss From A Rose ~Seal 10. Tulips From Amsterdam (Max Bygraves’ cover) ~Johnny Weaver

I hope you enjoyed the tunes. This is a music link up.  Your party hostesses are featured in my right side bar under the 4M banner.  This fun weekly party offers a suggested music theme every other week to build your song set around. All participants share YouTube (or other video sources) for our music enthusiasts.  Themes aren’t mandatory to access the dance floor but failure to meet the basic guideline to include music in your linked post puts your URL in danger being labeled – NO MUSIC which discourages non-interested bloggers to not visit.  We don’t want that to happen now do we? *shakes head no* 🙂

💫This month’s spotlight dancer is Ramblin’ with AM!💫

I haven’t participated in Ellen’s fill-ins in quite awhile.  I was trying to figure out away to get back into the groove and last week someone, sorry I should’ve made a note, shared her answers on Monday.  I thought, why not do the same? 😊 Here’s this week’s set of Friendly Fill-ins.

1. If one doesn’t doesn’t work for it then one doesn’t deserve the reward or payoff from a hard job well done.

2. What happens at home stays at home.

3. One day I will get into my dream house, but for now I must patiently continue the search.

4. If you ask me for a hug, I  may give it to you.

Look for the results of my recent BOTB to publish on Wednesday. This is CAAC signing off,  have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

It’s 61 right now and I am sitting outside watching the birds at my feeders and listening to their songs – and yours. What a combination. I only knew two of the songs, the hits I was already familiar with (It’s a Beautiful Morning and Build me Up Buttercup” so this was music education time. I read that your last song (Tulips from Amsterdam) nearly was made the National Anthem of the Netherlands – don’t know if that’s true but it would be cool if it was true.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Alana,

We enjoyed sunny, warmer temperatures yesterday, too. The wind was a bit nippy, though. I read the same thing about the last song in my set. 🙂 Thanks for dropping by, my friend!

    • angelswhisper2011

Alana, it’s not true. The song is originally a German song and later translated in Dutch😸
We have to admit that this could be a much better song than our National Anthem as we all know this song and sing along with it, and nobody really knows our Wilhelmus…and don’t want to know it either…MOL😹

I’m sorry I’m so slow in catching on again, and all the errors going on, but next week I’m going to start a lot sooner for Monday’s blog. Promise & I won’t be late this week with any screw-ups! So early to bed tonite… I’ve got a major headache & my back has been throbbing due to the grocery shopping I had to go do because Dave is a bit under the weather. Can’t let him get sick cuz he takes care of business & me around here! My poor guy! Its okay though the weather is going to be nicer tomorrow I here. Luv you gal, have a great week. If there’s anything I can do for you just say the word… I’m right here for ya! HUGS… MARIE p.s. You can leave comments by my blog now too! Luv ya girl! Thank you for everything…. YOU’RE DUH BEST! Wish I could give you a real hug!!!!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Marie,

Take a look at the linky. I changed the way the two you linked up. This will keep the confusion down. These are two different blogs, one commenting is turned off and the other is okay. Since XmasDolly Is Back works in that regard, you may want to consider removing any other blogs that you have to keep the confusion down. The site mondaysmusicmovesme.wordpress.com I created to help you, I set it to private so it’s no longer accessible. I did this to help you. Hopefully, it no longer shows on your WordPress dashboard to mess your head up. It is so easy to get mixed up. Over the past few weeks I’ve deleted all of my blogspot blogs and am working on doing the same with WP. It’s just a good idea to keep for security. Sites that aren’t maintained are easy targets for hackers and data miners to take advantage of and Lord knows you’ve had your run of bad luck in that department. Anyway, I will help if I can. Don’t fret, this will get easier. 🙂

  • XmasDolly aka Marie

Sorry for the mess today! I’ve got to get back into the groove! I’m a mess! Sheesh, Will I ever get the hang of this again? Surely you know I am trying… don’t you Cathy? I take any help I can get to. Thank God for you and Sandy! You two are the Lord’s blessings on me. Sorry I forgot that the subject was also suppose to be about the arrival of Spring. I forgot that part. I’m very slow getting started, but I’m trying….. honest I am & I won’t give up. Promise! Hugs to you & thank you for your patience!!! I went shopping today cuz Dave was under the weather. Guess he was doing to much around here & taking care of me. The Lord really blessed me with a good man! Luv you too my Cathy & me dear, dear friend! HUGS Marie… How’s your family doing? Great I hope & you too of course. HUGS, MARIE

Sorry, I signed in again. I didn’t notice my name right away. If you could take it off I would appreciate it, so I don’t look like a big dummy that I am. I can’t get my linky to work. Sorry to bother you, but is there some way you can help me. Our other friend says she can’t.

  • 15andmeowing

Happy Spring! Nice mewsic choices. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I hope you get your dream house soon. You should start a vision board with photos of what you want. XO

    • Cathy Kennedy

Thanks, Ellen! A vision board is a good idea. The problem is there is something always wrong with something we kind of like and then there is the price. Oh my Cathy is it still ever too expensive! I get a bit doubtful somedays but I’m trusting God to lead us to the right find!

  • Birgit

Somehow my comment went poof. Love your flowers for Spring. Here it is a balmy -5 and it will go up to 11 by Thursday. I forgot that Seal song was from a Batman movie. I love your first answer and wish some people got their butts kicked.

    • Cathy Kennedy

Your comment went poof again? Hmm, that’s strange. I bet some changes somewhere are going on and that’s why you’re experiencing these things. Thanks for dropping by, Birgit!

  • Sandee

Awww on the flowers and that adorable pup. It’s the perfect Awww Monday shot.

Love your playlist. Spring is my favorite of all seasons.

    Love your fill-ins. I’m a hugger too.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

  • DrillerAA

Aww…a young Beagle pup taking time to smell the flowers and you have a garden full of spring time blooms for the soul. Have a blessed week.

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Paw-some 4M Monday, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend.

Awww… pucker up buttercup! I just wanna smooch that cute little pooch.

You put together a cheery set of songs for the onset of spring, Cathy. Right off the bat, the optimistic “Beautiful Morning” by The Rascals reminds me of all the times I sat in the student union building at college, ate lunch or drank a soda or coffee, and listened to this song. It was a popular play on the canteen’s jukebox and always brightened my spirits. This post marks my introduction to the French “space pop” duo Air. What a breezy, “spacey” sound! It is also beautiful and intimate, gets inside your head and stimulates your imagination. In terms of vocal style, Air reminds me a little of the 1960s sunshine pop group Harpers Bizarre. I am somewhat embarrassed to admit that the only Minnie Riperton song I ever heard before today is her big 1975 hit “Lovin’ You.” I actually like “Les Fleurs” (French for “Flowers”) more than her major hit. I see that it was released as her first single in 1972 and that it went uncharted. It always pains me to remember that Minnie took ill and died very young – at age 31 – in 1979. Stevie Wonder paid tribute to Minnie on an episode of Soul Train that aired shortly after her death. I have always enjoyed the British soul band The Foundations, and “Build Me Up Buttercup,” a single that topped the Cash Box chart in early 1969, is a great AM radio oldie that I never tire of hearing. I thoroughly enjoyed the song by Miranda Lambert, the country singer and guitarist from Texas who went on to become a member of the hit country trio Pistol Annies. “Virginia Bluebell” is a song from Miranda’s 2009 album Revolution which also contains “Dead Flowers.”

I enjoyed your answers to the Friendly Fill-ins survey. I know you are still dreaming about your dream house. Mrs. Shady and I are now in the same situation as we contemplate a move at some point, hopefully in the near future.

I will swing by on Wednesday to learn the outcome of your most recent band battle. FYI – the disco ball is spinning above the Shady’s Place dance floor this week and you are invited to put on your boogie shoes and come dance with me and other friends. Have a wonderful week, dear friend Cathy!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Tom,

Our weekend was great. The weather has been so nippy. I’m ready for the warmth to return. It delights me that you enjoyed my playlist. Don’t feel bad, I didn’t know the Minnie Riperton, “Les Fleurs” either until I now. I definitely enjoyed the discovery but her hit classic might still be my favorite. Thanks for dropping by which reminded me of your current post and that I forgot to come by over the weekend. roll eyes I’m struggling to keep things straight in my noggin’. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!
