Battle of the Bands

Who Did It Better in A Thousand Kisses Deep BoTB Showdown?

Thanks for dropping by today to find out who did it better in last week’s A Thousand Kisses Deep BOTB showdown! My two female contenders were such a contrast to the original by Leonard Cohen.  Athina Maria cover was simple just her voice and piano. No crazy runs or growls or other vocal tricks.  Her sound was pure and this is why she wound up in my battle.  Sadie Paton’s style is different.  The thumbing of the drum in the beginning mirrors ones own as she bewitches the listener with her voice over an acoustic guitar strumming wowed me and I believe as it did many of you because in this showdown Sadie won this tight battle!

Let’s take a look at how the votes fell.

John, Lee, Brian, & Birgit favored Athina

Tom, Diedre, Sandee, Mimi, Ellen, & Debbie preferred Sadie

Thank you, Tom from Shady’s Place Music and Memories for mentioning that Sadie is the daughter of Pilot’s lead singer, David Paton.

Jot down April 1st,  that’s the date of for my next showdown so that you can cast a vote in that battle round.  All participators are listed in my side menu below the BOTB banner.   Tomorrow, I’m joining Rain’s Garden for TAD.  If you’re in Blogosphere, I hope you’ll stop by for a visit.  This is CAAC signing off, have a bandtastic day! X💋, Cathy

CAThy! It’s This (TOO LATE) Me!!

I’m extremely sorry I missed your last Battle!

Things have been quite bad for me for months and my mind just hasn’t been focused and right. (I say that like at one time it WAS focused and right, huh?)

Seriously, a lot of sciatica pain due to (according to my X-rays) “severe arthritis and bone spurs” in my lower back.

Praise God, I’m doing MUCH better now, and can even walk again (with no real pain and only a little discomfort at times).

I hereby vow, and promise, and declare that I will be here for your April Fool’s Day BOTB. I’d have to be a fool to miss this next one. (Shhh! Don’t say it. I know what you’re thinking.) [;^D

      Stephen,

Don’t worry about it. I’m really sorry to hear about your back pain, though. I totally understand. As we age and grow less active these sorts of things settle into our bodies in very undesirable ways. I try to not sit too long so to not irritate my whole back in general but it gets especially uncomfortable in the lower region. I went through a period like you it was painful to walk but thank the good Lord I bounced back from that and now I try to watch for signs to keep it at bay. Growing old isn’t always fun but I’m gonna live my life to its fullest the best I know how. I’ll watch for you to show up, my friend. Oh gracious, I can’t believe tomorrow is April 1st!

      Mimi,

These battles teach me to listen more closely to the competitors and I always learn something about either the original artist or the new talent. Thanks for playing along!

  • Sandee

It’s always fun to participate in these fun battles. Being on the winning team is a good thing too.

Have a fabulous day, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Wild, Wacky and Almost Wordless Wednesday, dear friend. I hope your week is going well and that spring is taking hold up there in Eastern Tennessee.

Thanks for reporting the outcome of your latest band battle. After two or three losses in a row, I am happy to be back on the winning side this time. Congratulations on picking two evenly matched contestants for the battle. I enjoyed the bonus tracks by the winner Sadie Paton. Looks like the video produced by daddy David for Sadie’s “Love Song” is a slideshow of pictures from the family album. “Hotel Amour” is a pretty song, and the video offers a variety of nostalgic and romantic images.

I wish you a happy Wednesday. I will return tomorrow for your Thursday Art Date With Rain. I am eager to gaze at your artwork and envy your talent. 🙂 Take care, dear friend Cathy!
