Wordless Wednesday

Goodbye Autumn #art prompt #WW

Purrs and hisses, Kittens and Dawgs!  I hope y’all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and if you ventured out to retail land on Black Friday then I hope you survived.  Maybe,  you’re saying yeah, I made it physically okay but financially….my wallet is really sore! We didn’t get out since we had an appliance delivery.  Our washer is on its last leg so instead of being caught in a bad pinch without my machine we decided to buy one the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Alright you’re not here for my dirty laundry. lol Then why are? Oh, yeah it’s not-so-Wordless Wednesday and I’m using this time slot to feature my attempts with the Scribble Picnic art challenge.  This week is ‘Goodbye Autumn‘.

We aren’t experiencing any of the fluffy white precipitation quite yet but we might see some by the end of next week which will make for a fun mood with the Christmas season just beginning to reeve up.

I really like Michael’s art challenge topic. I had wanted to pursue more drawings but found myself with limited time with Thanksgiving preparation.  I definitely will venture to cover this them on my own when my schedule slacks off a bit.

Today’s post is in part sponsored by the letter ‘U’ and the ABC Wednesday community.  The reason I usually plUg myself into Blogosphere each day is because of yoU and since I missed last week’s prompt, I can roll together a join one post to say Thank U for being my friend!

I suspect between now and until the end of the year my blogging life is going to find its way on the back burner.  No, I won’t abandon ship completely but my posts will be fewer, return visits slower, and my response time even slower. I say y’all are in the same boat so we’ll just need to cut each other a lot of slack and enjoy the season.

My linky party is open to all regardless of what kind of post you have as long as you’re a personal blogger.  All commercial websites, advertisers, or other spammy, non-fun links are subjected to immediate termination by the linky hostess!

[tweetthis]I linked up with Curious as a Cathy for some not-so #WW fun & I invite you join the party! #photography[/tweetthis]

OOh enjoy your new washer my dear. We need a good set too, but not sure what year that will happen in. If anything happen, I’m looking at a laundromat 🙂

    Love the art.

It was nice and cold here a few days ago and then it went hot again and rained and a worm and probably other bugs came inside and I was trying not to freak out!

I totally understand about blogging on the back burner girl. I try and sometimes barely make it.

  • XmasDolly

Personally I think that’s the greatest picture you have ever done! I totally love it. Girl, you should really do something with your drawings… maybe work for a magazine company or something!!! Anyway I’d love to say goodbye to autumn/fall, but we cannot because it’s not winter until December 22 hmmmm or is it the 23rd??? I’ll have to look that up… no matter how much snow we get. Oh well! I went today for a doctor visit & it looks like Marie is getting another shot, but down on L5 on December 6th. We’ll talk more later on that one. ~sigh~ Have a great weekend my love! hugs

      Marie,

You’re so sweet. My artwork isn’t quite good enough where I produce illustrations for a company. I haven’t totally given up the dream of sketching images for my next children’s book but that’ll be a while yet. I need to develop my skill sets more. You’re the berry best with your encouragement, girl!

Winter begins this year on December 21st. I guess for you and all my other northern friends you cling more delicately to the seasons. The first signs of winter’s temptress biting my nose and fingers then I’m ready to declare it winter!

Sorry to hear that you have to have another shot. Will keep you in my prayers, dear friend. XO

  • Michael

I love what you’ve done here – very Autumnal and yet watery too. Perfect! Thank you so much for doing this, Cathy! Love it. So glad you enjoyed the challenge too.

      Kathe,

It’s neat how changing angles in one’s sketch to can give the illusion of wind blowing. I enjoyed drawing this week’s art prompt a lot. Thanks for visiting. 🙂

      Linda,

When I was a little girl, we had a light-colored, hair hound pup that I named Sugarfoot. That’s where my inspiration came for ‘Sugar’ in my drawing. 🙂 I imagine Sugar’s zealous stroll is in part caused by the weather but mostly because he’s kept indoors too much as that’s the way I see dogs on leashes, happy to be outside at last!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Su-sieee,

The girl in the drawing has to love the windy, snowy weather better than me because I’m purrfectly content to stay indoors where it’s warm. But…if I had a dog then I reckon I’d be forced to get out in all kinds of weather regardless of my preference. Maybe, that’s why we don’t have a dog.

  • Lorraine

I love your little snowy scene. It definitely says goodbye to autumn. This is such a busy time of year. I hope you find time to do the things that make you happy and I suspect that might be making other people happy.

      Lorraine,

It’s so chilly but thankfully we’ll get a little reprieve in the cold over the weekend. I hope we can find time to relax during the holiday season but last night we got some unexpected news that we need to buy a new car. Ours has a serious problem that with repair may or may not fix it but she’s 16 years old and I can’t fault her for giving it up after many years of faithful service. I pray that we can find the purrfect replacement at the right price. I really hate the thoughts of having a car payment after so many years of being without one but I count my blessings that we are able to do this when needed. God is good!

Our washer gave up the ghost last weekend! I bought mine, used, from a great used appliance store back in 1999 and it just gave out now. I went back to the same place and bought one used again:) They told us the new washers are all made by the same company who knows where (China??) and they just slip on a different name like Maytag, Kenmore etc…because people still go by those names but they sold out long ago…how sad is that! I love your drawing and it shows the magic of snow and having a doggie. I still miss my Katie girl-my black lab. We got a good snowfall yesterday and last night-heavy wet stuff but it is pretty. I can’t believe we are so close to the year end and, yes, a very busy time

I want a scarf like that! 🙂 Washers and dryers have the worst timing when they decide to give up. We have a fairly new washer but our dryer is 14 yrs old – go figure! We live in an apartment and their appliances leave a lot to be desired (frig, stove, and dishwasher). The frig was dented and downright ugly. It started to not work properly and we couldn’t get them to replace it. They kept trying to fix it. So, we bought our own frig! haha! Happy holidays and have fun with your family!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Eugenia,

Appliances do fail at the worse possible time. Our dryer is quite old, too. I’m thinking it’s right around 16 or 17 years old. I told DH that maybe we should’ve gotten a new dryer while we were at it since ours is beginning to dry well. That might be simple as replacing the heating element but the repair will be a nightmare as is all fixes. Why can’t things be easy? Sigh. I count my blessings that we have the means to buy these appliances instead forcing us to take out a small loan. That’s the way we had to do things when the kids were young. We barely could afford what we had so when something went out it was a huge deal for us.

      • -Eugenia

I feel your pain, Cathy! I’m glad things are easier for you. Taking out loans and making payments not an option for us but I remember when that was what we had to do to obtain appliances, etc.

        • Cathy Kennedy

          Eugenia,

If things can get any worse it just did today! smack forehead DH went to Toyota to have the brake pads replaced on all four wheels. While there, he asked the Mechanic about the radiator. It’s been doing something weird. He suspected it had a leak. One was found in the worse place. It’s the engine seal which is a very expensive repair with no guarantees. Our car is 15 years old so this sort of thing was half-expected but we really didn’t want it to come to this. We’re going to have to get on the stick quick to make a car purchase asap…like within a week or two! 🙁

  • Rain Frances

I love your scribble Cathy!!! Windy! The detail on the scarf is great!!! You’re so right…even though I complain about winter, the cold etc…having snow for Christmastime is so festive, I do love it! (Ask me again in late February lol)…Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Our washer is on its last legs too, as is our fridge and dryer lol…but we are hoping beyond hope that they all last until the spring. We’ll be moving and not taking them with us, so buying something new now would kind of suck!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Rain,

I’m delighted you enjoyed my sketch. 😉 We did have a great Thanksgiving. The weekend before we drove to my parents’ house in southwestern Virginia. We saw snow on the mountains. It was so pretty. I hope your appliance survive until you move. We want desperately to get into a bigger house next year and I wish we could’ve waited but we needed to buy now. The refrigerator was dead and our washer has some major problems. I just didn’t want it to die on us in the middle of winter. It was cool enough on the days that we installed both and I know it’s only going to get worse. I’m glad to have these things behind us for now, though. Thanks for dropping by. I’m off to see what you’re sharing today.

  • Comedy Plus

It’s a good time to slow down. This is a time for family and friends. You do what you need to do. I’m sure most of us will be slowing down.

I love your artwork. You are ever so talented.

Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday and week. Love you. ♥

      Sandee,

I like stepping back from blogging this time of the year to enjoy other things. I think it’s essential to place importance on these special moments to savor because it passes so quickly. Thanks for visiting, darlin’!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Jacqui,

I’m amazed at what I’m able to do with my iPad Pro and Apple pencil. I can only imagine what someone with real talent can do with the same tools. 🙂 Thanks for your kind words. You’re the best!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Roger,

I hear you about the clean sidewalks. That’s not so much of a concern for us as it is the roads themselves because the city puts subdivision streets on the backburner until the main arteries are cleared. We have some rolling hills to pass over to get to our house, too. DH has had problems in years past getting up one very steep hill that leads to our street. It’s a real nightmare!

  • Thomas Anderson

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy not-so-Wordless, Scribble Picnic and ABC Wednesday to you, dear friend! I came to see your SP “Goodbye Autumn” sketch. It’s another fine one, Cathy! I can almost feel that cold wind biting into the young woman’s back as she walks Sugar on a snow blown late autumn day. Actually, it looks like Sugar is walking her because he is enthusiastically pulling on that leash as many dogs do. I remember snowfalls as early as late October up in Pennsylvania. It was snowing large flakes the day we buried my uncle in October circa 1978.

As you know I always look forward to examining your artwork so please keep it coming. I also appreciate your eclectic taste in mewsic including this song by Celine. I realize activity around the blogging community will be slowing down as we share the holidays with loved ones. Genuine friendship is the glue that will keep us together through the period.

Thank U for being my friend and enjoy the rest of your week, dear Cathy!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Tom,

You’re such a dear, sweet friend. Thank you for your lovely words. Things do indeed slow down in Blogosphere around the holidays. It’s just a reminder that there’s so much more beyond our social media outlets. I hope you and Mrs. Shady are able to find joy in the holiday season despite your recent loss. It’ll be hard but hopefully, you can embrace the moment given after all it’s a present. I was reminded even more of this myself with the news of a dear classmate’s husband passing suddenly.
