Friday Sillies

Ending the first work week of October on a happy note

Another new month begins and another work week ends. As you might have guessed with my opening bit of humor someone had her annual procedure. I wish I had thought to request pumpkin spice just before I went under on Wednesday. Can you imagine the looks I would’ve gotten with that one?

I got a kick out of this cartoon a friend shared on FB.

I don’t have to worry about this because I always make sure to eat the fun size. Laughter always makes these sorts of things more bearable, don’t you agree? Although I was sedated and clueless to what was going on during my procedures, I’m eternally grateful technology was on my side the day of, unlike this poor soul.

Enough of the medical talk, everything went well and I’m the picture of near-perfect health, so you ain’t gonna get rid of me any time soon. Unless I step off a curb in front of a city bus or a meteor strikes me down. What’s the odds of that happening?

Let’s get some giggles on with these random sillies.

Which makes me think of cats that think they are pinup models.

I borrowed this from Toni’s FB wall. Thanks, girlie! (Leigh Rubin, cartoonist)

Little do the cows know that the dude is seriously contemplating – does have a burger for lunch or turn over a new leaf. 🙂

I spied this on a FB’s friend’s wall. I think it was Mike, so let me say thanks for the share!

Even the monsters have to keep in shape.

I’m rounding things out with these Friendly Fill-Ins.

1. October is the perfect month for pumpkin spice lattes of course! When fall arrives, I’m always ready for a pumpkin spice latte or hot chocolate but with the heat, we’ve been experiencing I think it won’t be until the end of the month before I can enjoy these seasonal drinks best.

2. The most recent purchase I made online was Super Beets. DH has mentioned this to me on occasion. One of the talk show hosts advertises the product. About a week ago, there was an infomercial on tv and so we decided to give it a try.  I just started taking it yesterday, so if it gives me the energy it claims and improvement circulation then I’ll be sure to give you the heads up.

3. If I turned invisible for a day, I would like to shadow someone to see what they did on any given day to see how good of judge I am of their character.  Everyone has two sides and it’s hard to know sometimes who’s the real deal. Wouldn’t it be cool to know for sure? It’s been then being a fly on the way constantly at risk of being squashed. 🙂

4. My mouth has gotten me in trouble in the past. Actually, I’m not sure which to blame now. Is it my brain being to slow to process what I should say or my mouth being too fast? Either way, my mouth gets me into hot water sometimes.

Do you like mewsic? If so, you ought to check out today’s Rocktober Music Fest tunes. Do you like to boogie? Then be my guest at the best dance party in Cyberville with ‘your choice song picks‘ spinning on the turntable right here on Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me on Sunday!

Your funnies never fail to brighten my day. Thank you for that! And thank you for joining in on the Friendly Fill-Ins! Can you believe I’ve never had any pumpkin spice beverage? I love pumpkin, and I love pumpkin pie, but pumpkin beverages have never drawn me in. And I think you are so right with #3. Being invisible for a day would be the best opportunity to discover if you’ve judged someone correctly. Have a wonderful day!

      Lorraine,

Laughter makes the heart lighter and puts a smile on one’s face. I think Pumpkin Spice lattes didn’t reel me in at first and I’m not sure how I got started drinking them but I’m glad that I did. I wouldn’t say I’m hooked on them but it’s a fun hot beverage to have when autumn rolls around. Generally, coffee shops use too much of the syrup which makes the coffee too sweet to suit me. I prefer making mine at home where I have control of how much goes into my coffee. It’s tastier and less expensive. Thanks for dropping by!

oh my gosh I think I finally am able to comment! For some reason I just could not get my comment box to come up!! so I stayed around and read 7 of your past posts,, all wonderful. I tried again and I think Im able to comment! This post made me smile ear to ear, I cannot pick a favourite ,, they are all hilarious but the woman on the swing with the cat mimicking the position is so good , lol, love them all!!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Laurie,

I’m sorry you were having issues with leaving a comment. Sometimes that happens with blogs I visit but your persistence paid off! I’m delighted you enjoyed the giggles provided in this post. The cats posing like pinup girls are generally pretty funny. I don’t know who comes up these but they sure do a great job! 🙂

Isn’t “pumpkin spice” just nutmeg? They should do nutmeg all year long…

Glad to hear the procedure went well.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Liz,

You know I haven’t looked at the ingredients, I doubt that it will say but it should be similar to what the spices combined for making pumpkin pie which includes cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and allspice. That’s what I use anyhow. 🙂

I have to admit that the dumb blonde alligator shoes joke made me laugh. Weird Al also put a smile on my face but best of all was the sky picture – taken on a misty morning you still got the moon in there even as some of the tree’s leaves melted into some fog. Nice capture!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Alana,

The dumb blonde joke got me good, too. I’m glad you liked the photo of the early morning moon shot I took quickly one morning. I wished I had time to get my big girl camera but that’s what happens when you’re in a hurry. At least I get something and for that makes me happy.

Those are all great funnies. I especially like the pole dancing cat. My Angel Phoebe used to have a tip cup attached to her pole and my mom and hubby used to give her $ for pole “dancing”. I miss her. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. Please do let us know how the beets make you feel. I am glad your tests were clear. Have a nice weekend. XO

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Ellen,

I’m sorry you miss your Angel Phoebe. It had to be loads of fun to watch her pole dance! Cats can be so funny. Give me a month and I’ll let you know what I think of the Super Beets, darlin’! Thanks for the return visit.

  • Peter B.

Some very funny jokes here. Thanks for the laugh. Oh, and thanks for the reminder I STILL haven’t scheduled my colonoscopy. But I think I will request pumpkin spice!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Peter,

Thanks for enjoying the laughs while you visited with me. I’m happy to remind ya to get your Colonoscopy scheduled. Let me know the reaction you get when you request pumpkin spice. 🙂

  • Rain Frances

The Moon shot is great Cathy! I love all of the funnies, that cat tree one is hilarious, and I actually had to hold my mouth closed at the tapeworm funny. My mouth is sore lol…great blonde joke!!!

  • scr4pl80

Pretty funny and perfectly fitting for World Smile Day! I particularly like the one about vegetarian being a big missed steak! Have a great weekend.

  • Debbie D.

Happy to know all is well, after your procedure, Cathy. Funny jokes! 😀 The blonde one was unique. That’s a lovely moon shot. I don’t know how you manage to publish such fun and interesting posts on a daily basis. You must have incredible time-management skills! 👌

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Debbie,

Time management, what’s that? lol I have a rhythm between my two lives is about all I can say at this point. There’s always room for improvement but the more I keep tweaking the better I feel about things. It helps that I keep a good stash of funny stuff on my computer as I stumble on it otherwise I’d be lost. Thanks for visiting, dearie!

  • Sandee

I loved all the funnies and that blonde joke was a knee slapper indeed. Bless her heart.

I loved all your fill-ins and it seems we’re the same on #4. I knew I liked you for a reason.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. Love and hugs. ♥

    Hi, Cathy!

If you read my reply to your comment on my blog yesterday, you learned that I had just arrived home after spending 17 grueling days on the road helping family members in another city. Only a few minutes after I wrote that reply to you, we were contacted by another family member in crisis! We needed to drop what we were doing and drive clear across the state again and spend the evening putting out another fire. We didn’t get back home until late last night, both exhausted, and I needed to get a little extra sleep this morning. I’m sure you know how it goes when family needs your help.

I am happy to be up and around, guzzling coffee and being entertained by your Friday Sillies, but the vintage pin-up girl that started-off your post also helped get my eyes wide open for the day. 🙂 I don’t know if I would consent to undergoing a pumpkin spice colonoscopy. If the doctor approached me with that bizarre choice, I’d probably get mad and tell him to “stick it.” 🙂 EWWW – a tapeworm used for the procedure? I don’t think so! 🙂 I’d rather they call-in the Roto Rooter man. 🙂

Seriously, I am elated to know you are in tip-top health, Cathy. Keep taking care of your body and it will keep taking care of you.

I loved the cartoon with the pole dancing kitty. Is that what’s known as a polecat? 🙂 The “What he heard – what she said” gag rings with truth. Whenever Mrs. Shady drags me along shopping with her it turns into an endurance test. She spends hours browsing and I desperately search every store for the “husband bench.” 🙂 I also enjoyed the dumb blonde joke, and the monsters working out on treadmills trying to shed pounds so that they can fit under beds is classic.

I prefer my coffee black but, at this time of year, I look forward to drinking apple cider. If your mouth gets you into hot water at times, don’t worry about it. I tend to like outspoken people. It was fun hearing Weird Al’s famous song parody “My Bologna.” The other day I saw Al’s name on a list of celebs turning age 60 this month.

Your shot of the lonely moon shining down in the predawn darkness is a stunner.

That does it! My eyes are officially wide open after finishing my cup of coffee and gazing upon those dancing Brit birds on Top Of The Pops. 🙂

Have a safe and happy weekend, dear friend Cathy!

      Tom,

I hadn’t had a chance to make it back over to your place this morning. I’m sorry to hear that your attention was needed again so soon. It’s tiring to be in such high demand but I know it’s a blessing to those you help. That’s a good one ‘polecat’. lol I generally prefer my coffee black but occasionally I like to add some coffee flavoring to it. I believe it’s best to say things the way it is but sometimes you have to deal with issues in more delicate fashion and that’s where my mouth gets ahead of my brain. Thankfully, I don’t have too many problems with this anymore. I’m learning. 🙂 Have a good weekend, my friend!
