Monday's Music Moves Me,  Rocktober Music Fest

A mewsic doubleheader #RMF

Welcome to Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me on Sunday!

Our leaves aren’t falling yet.  They haven’t even reached their peak fall colors yet but that’ll happen soon enough.  It’s hard to imagine we’re at the beginning of the 10th month for the year leaving me to shake my head in disbelief. Oh, dearie how the time flies!  This month we have a new-comer as this month’s honorary co-hostess spotlight, Robin from Songbird’s Crazy World.  Welcome aboard, dearie!

This week’s theme is your choice song picks which means anything goes. Whatever mewsic is movin’ you then we’re ready to boogie with you.  I keep a stash of YT links in a folder to fall on for a non-theme week.  In May I stumbled on a Pink cover song “Get The Party Started” (found on Midnight Essential album below)by a new-to-me artist, Stella Starlight Trio, redefines hits with a mellow smoky tempo cradles the mind with a relaxing jazz ambiance. Are you ready for a slow dance?

Song tracks from Midnight Essentials :   Don’t Let Me Down (Chainsmoker),  Sorry (Justin Bieber),  Treat You Better (Shawn Mendes),  Get The Party Started (P!nk), Sugar (Robin Shultz),  I Can’t Feel My Face (The Weeknd), I’m On Fire (Bruce Springsteen),  Heaven (Bryan Adams),  Midnight City (M83), & Up and Up (Coldplay)

I couldn’t find a lot out about who this artist is but I’m beginning to suspect that she might be the one and the same as Karen Souza. I’m sure some of you have a better idea, so please feel free to share what you know!

Please readthis is a mewsic linky party, which means all participates are sharing songs that one can listen to from YouTube or Vimeo and a not a post about mewsic or mewsicians.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

It’s now time to join the 4M dance party!

ATTENTION!!! Would you like to be an honorary co-host? If so, shoot me an email or leave me a comment saying ‘YES, sign me up!’ and I’ll secure the next available month for you then send you the details. 😉

I’m strolling down memory lane with classic rock bands of the 70s rediscovering my mewsical roots of yesteryear and today’s featured group is Foreigner.

If you haven’t heard the news, Mary from Jingle Jangle Jungle is hosting her second annual event of Rocktober and I’m playing along.  I hope you enjoy my 8-track Foreigner YT playlist creation!

Songs on my playlist I remember best from the 70s include: Cold As Ice,  Feels Like the First Time,  Long, Long Way From Home,  Headknocker, Hot Blooded, Double Vision, Head Games, & Dirty White Boy!

Wow, Stella Starlight Trio sure is a mystery – I found nothing when googling, either! But what a great sound, and they did some of my favorite songs justice! 🙂

And I’ve always loved Foreigner, so all your choices are spectacular, Cathy! 🙂 Thanks for the dance! Hope you’re feeling better!

I’ve never heard of the Stella Starlight Trio, but I have to say I love that name! And their jazzy sound.

And Foreigner is a great band – Dirty White Boy being my favorite of the songs on the playlist. Great song selections this week!

      Driller,

No worries. It happens to us all. I’m dragging my feet this week after last week’s procedure anesthesia nasal symptoms bringing me down. Right now, I’m dealing with a Mucinex DM hangover. I. Do Not. Like this feeling at all! It’s worse than when I use NyQuil. Tonight, I am going to try my best to not use that stuff again. I’m soooo loopy today. Anywho, I hope all is well on your end and I’m glad you got to come by to boogie with me.

I sure wish my blog was like yours. You always have sooooooooooooo many people to come over and leave ya a comment. That’s because you’re such a sweet person and everyone knows it. Good for you girlfriend. I guess I’m going to have to find some of that sweetness you have. hehehehe Anyway love your tunes for sure. Me? I love 70, 80’s music… I could listen to it all day and of course Christmas music in December. hehehehehe Cold as ice was one of my favorites. Thanks for posting that one. Very cool. BIG HUGS!!!!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Marie,

Ahhh, you’re too sweet hon! Blogging is a lot of work for sure and I learned the best way to build a good base with others is to always reply to comments left and make sure to leave one when I visit their place. I also like checking from time to time to see if others reply to my comments on their site so that I can leave another comment. As I said, it’s very involving to do this but it does keep those you care about close to you. However, I know you’re dealing with many health issues and doctor visits so it’s hard to work your blog the way you want but just keep plugging along at it, you’ll get those commenters rolling in before long, darlin’! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by to boogie with me this morning.

Awww on that fall kitty. So adorable.

I used to hate Mondays too, but not since I retired.

Cold as Ice is a classic. I’ve always loved that song.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs. ♥

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Sandee,

Mondays are only bad because DH has to work. There will come a time once he’s retired and every day will feel the same as the weekend. ‘Cold As Ice’ is my favorite Foreigner song. Thanks for joining me darlin’!

    • Cathy Kennedy

LOL, I hadn’t thought of that…today IS Monday being the worst words and yo you’re right it happens every week if we’re lucky, and just deal with it the best we can.

  • Mary B

Foreigner was so much fun back in the day! They didn’t make my list for this years RocktoberMusicFest, so really happy to see you feature them here.

  • Birgit

Ah the music of Foreigner which I always enjoyed” This will be a fun series to listen to for October. Please, Monday is not here yet.

  • Alana Mautone (@RamblinGarden)

A satellite station I listen to occasionally had a “Foreigner Takeover” this past weekend so I had alresady listened to some of the songs on your playlist but they hadn’t played “Dirty White Boy” and I really needed that upbeat song to cheer me up this gloomy afternoon. Our leaves, by the way, have barely turned. Seems to be later each year (and spring comes later, too). Thank you for the spot of cheer!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Alana,

We’re under rain clouds today and cooler temps. I believe fall temps have finally arrived but some of forecast nightly lows are looking a bit chillier than usual for this time of year. It’s like I told DH, we’re going to go straight from summer to winter. Our colors aren’t doing much here either but that’s normal. I figured up there you’d start seeing some change. Of course, it might be one of those falls where the trees just turn brown and with the first wind blow everything away. We’ve had a number of years like that in the past. It’s kind of frustrating. You can always make the day a little cheerier by have a pumpkin spice latte, right?

  • -Eugenia

I loved Foreigner and thanks for the memories! Today, we are finally getting fall weather! I thought it would never arrive. Have a great day, Cathy! 🍂 🍁

  • Rain Frances

That’s a great quote from Charles Schultz!! Live for today! 🙂 I used to love Foreigner, nice trip down memory lane! It’s very fall-like here in the mountains. The leaves are turning and it’s rainy and chilly. Good cuddle weather! 🙂

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Rain,

We’re getting some rain today. I’m still trying to get caught up after being away from Blogosphere last Wednesday. I’m happy to have the cooler temps at last. Our colors aren’t doing much yet and probably won’t until the end of the month. Thanks for visiting and enjoying the Foreigner playlist.

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy 4M Monday on Sunday, dear friend! It was nice to be greeted by the image of that pretty kitty hiding in a mound of fallen autumn leaves.

Turning to your mewsic selections, Stella Starlight Trio is new to my ears and does indeed sound like Argentinian jazz vocalist Karen Souza. I can imagine them performing this set of cover songs at 3 am in a smoky lounge in the jazz district of a big city. I can tell I’m getting old (soon 70) because most of of the original songs the Trio is covering are also new to me. However I am familiar with most of the original artists. I especially liked the cover of Pink’s “Get The Party Started.” You might recall my post three years ago on the old SDMM blog in which I introduced Canadian singer Francesco Yates who is the featured lead vocalist on the Robin Schulz single “Sugar” covered here by the SST.

I enjoyed your Foreigner block party. Bands like Foreigner remind us how exciting it was to listen to go to live rock shows and listen to rock oriented radio in the 70s and 80s, a refreshing alternative to disco and the synthpop driven sound of new wave.

Thank you for the morning entertainment and have a wonderful week ahead, dear friend Cathy!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Tom,

I’m always delighted to share something new with you, especially since it’s you who share many new artist & song selections with me. I do recall the Candian singer, Francesco Yates, by name. I had to refresh my memory by asking Google, though. My Foreigner block party is one that just about everyone seemed to enjoy. I don’t know a soul who doesn’t appreciate their sound. They really rocked the 70s & 80s. I’m trying desperately to get caught up after last week’s full schedule and then not feeling well. The good mews is I’m doing better but not 100% yet. I’m sure I will be good as new soon, though. Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, my friend.
