Wednesday Hops

Confusion

Somehow in my confusion…yes confusion..I managed to not link up with a few of my regular hops. In fact, I’ve neglected to do this for the past couple of weeks…maybe even three. Who knows, I’ve lost count in my confused state.

My brain snapped in the realization of missing out on these hops of all things with the thought of Hurricane Sandy. Why is this? My two good friend Patrice who hosts Chats and Joyce who hosts Hodgepodge live in NJ. Naturally, they weighted heavily on my mind last night.

I was happy to read this morning Patrice is okay with comparatively speaking little damage to her property. However, I don’t know the status of Joyce’s situation. All I can do is continue to pray all is well with her and so many other friends (bloggers & non-bloggers) are safe and unharmed by this super storm.

Anyway,  my confused brain associates the Chats blog hop always with mid-week. But, I think Patrice moved it to Tuesday. Although I don’t know if that’s official or not. Maybe someone will straighten me out. What’s that? Oh, shut the rambling up already you say. Good enough, hop in my row-boat as we paddle our way over to join this week’s conversation with Patrice.

How are you when there is a storm?  Our storms aren’t usually too fierce. On the occasion one gets really nasty, I say a prayer for God’s safety. This quietens my fears.

Are you doing anything special in November? The only thing special I have planned for November is Thanksgiving, but it is just dinner for the three of us. The big festivities will be at my in-laws’ house, which I plan to help with the meal preparation.

Do you wear glasses or contacts? I wear glasses. I tried contacts years ago but had such a horrible time with them that I swore off on them. Never. Will I EVER. Wear contacts again!

Salty snacks or sweets? This largely depends on my mood, but for the most part, I say I would go for a salty snack.

Who would you bring to the farm with you for a chat, a tour, or perhaps a visit with Wendell? I think I would bring along anyone of my children. They love animals and would die for the opportunity to visit with Wendell. DD#2 has been particularly interested in riding a handsome beast such as Wendell. Perhaps, he would allow a short, gentle gallop with her on his back. What do you think? Oh yeah, she will need to borrow D3’s riding helmet, if wouldn’t mind. lol

Because I thought of Patrice’s Chats, I remembered I haven’t linked up with Joyce in a while, too. Yes, Joyce hosts another mid-week meme and I always tied these two together in one post. These ladies are such lovely people and honestly, I just hate not being a part of their little get-togethers each week. Here are my answers to this week’s Hodgepodge.

1. What creeps you out? Liberal politicians? Nah, I know that’s NOT what you’re talking about. I would have to say mice creep or those ginormous wolf spiders. But, I tell you what. I’ll take mice in my house any day over snakes. We watched a special a few months ago about these horrible deadly snakes that get into homes in Australia and after seeing that I promised to NEVER complain again about trapping mice again.

2. What’s your least favorite candy? ALL. CANDY. Hmm, if I must narrow it down to one candy then I would have to say Reece’s cups. I love chocolate and PB. Together! =D

3. Are you a fan of scary movies? What’s the scariest movie you’ve ever seen? I’m not a huge fan of bloody slasher type scary movies at all. I made the mistake of seeing Friday the 13th after we got married. That’s all it took for me to swear off these types of movies. Never. Again. Will I watch anything like this. But, I like good suspenseful  “bump in the night” type of movies. One of my most recent favorites is What Lies Beneath – very creepy!

4. What part of life confuses you the most? Kids with their inability to listen to parents.  They think they have it all figured out.  I was the same at their ages but you know I don’t remember my parents saying, ‘Look if you don’t do this then this and this won’t happen.” This is what we’ve done with ours and yet they refuse to listen. All I can say is someday it’ll hit them like a ton of bricks when they have kids of their own. Lord help them all…me, too!

5. Pumpkin, sunflower, sesame, poppy…what’s your favorite seed? I reckon my favorite of these would be sunflower seeds. Although I do like sesame and poppy seeds on bread & crackers, I don’t think I’ve had them any other way than this. We use to roast pumpkin seeds when the kids were small, but it never really grew on me like my favorites — sunflower seeds.

6. Imagine your life ten years from today…what’s changed? This is a tall order for my imagination, but I would think looking into the future a decade from now, I would like to think I see grandkids in my future. My daughters finally knowing where they want to be. They seem to be so uncertain about who they are at times. Why is it girls struggle with this sort of thing, including myself in my own early years?  I can see DS graduated from college with his electrical engineering degree and positioned with an excellent company and has a lovely wife. Naturally, we have moved into our dream house and I’m looking particularly wonderful for my years by which time I’ll be…ahem…60.

7. What do you a) love the most and b) like the least about the Hodgepodge? Like all blog hops, I love the friendship & interaction of comments between bloggers and what I like least about all blog hops is trying to squeeze time in to do them. I often find myself forgetting to join in on them from time-to-time just like I have with the Hodgepodge on more than one occasion. I’m gonna have to do something better with getting my act together, I think.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

It’s Halloween! It’s Halloween!
The moon is full and bright
And we shall see what can’t be seen
 On any other night.
 Skeletons and ghosts and ghouls,
 Grinning goblins fighting duels
Werewolves rising from their tombs,
 Witches on their magic brooms
In masks and gown we haunt the street
And knock on doors for trick or treat
Tonight we are the king and queen,
 For oh tonight it’s Halloween!

I haven’t been posting lately on the memes I normally do, things just got busy and I fell way behind. I’m trying to get back in the swing now. I enjoyed reading all your answers to the questions. I’m just the opposite of you, I love creepy movies. Not the ones with lots of blood and gore, just creepy. I don’t wear glasses or contacts. Love salty snacks.

I have tried to stick to posting on Tuesday. When I did Wednesday Words for Weightloss, it was uh- Wednesday :)??? I find that some of the folks like to have this hop on Tuesday so they can visit Hodge Podge too. Thanks for your concern regarding the storm.Have a good week!

Hope your blog friends are okay from the storm. I know that cell phone and Internet access are.very spotty so they may not be able to update their blog.

I hope these blog friends are well too. It’s such a bad storm.

How are you when there is a storm?
I just snuggle with the kids and pray. If it’s really something, we’ll think about getting out of town a day or so early.

Are you doing anything special in November?
Not really. Just Thanksgiving and we might drive to the inlaws.

Do you wear glasses or contacts? I wear glasses. I’ve tried contacts but i can’t handle them in my one good eye.

Salty snacks or sweets? Sweet and then salty 🙂 But salty with lots of water to drink.

Who would you bring to the farm with you for a chat, a tour, or perhaps a visit with Wendell? My kids. I love sharing things with them and they do make my life better.
