Cathy Chats

Changes, Appointments Ending, Pellets,

Good morning, Kittens & Dawgs!  What’s going on in your world? How is life changing in your neck of the woods?

The heat of summer is diminishing but we’ll continue to enjoy some warm weather throughout this month before the cooling trend truly takes hold.  The leaves are still rather green in town but occasionally I’ll spot some trees beginning to show a bit of color.  It’s not uncommon for the foliage peak to arrive in the last week of October.  Last year, we didn’t see a lot of change until early November. I figured the leaves would just blow away with no show but we got a super surprise.

I’m happy that most of my doctor appointments are ending soon for the year. I have two more then I shouldn’t *cross fingers* have to go back until early next year and that’s for my Sotopelle HRT pellets.  Until I can find a way to turn back the hands of time then that’ll be forever.

Speaking of pellets….the way this is handled the doctor faxes my script to a local pharmacy and then they mail it to me which normally works out purrrfectly.  They are on the other side of town which isn’t convenient for us to swing by.  All it takes is the right timing to order, ship, and have in my hand. This time, I did like I always do.  I got a notification from USPS of a package on its way.  I figure it had to be from my pharmacy since it’s shipping origin was in town but when I didn’t get it on the expected day of delivery I called the pharmacy.  They saw the same tracking info that I did “on it’s way to the next facility”.  That seemed odd but I thought, “Oh well, it’ll be here tomorrow.”  The following day, I checked the tracking status which indicated my package was sent to California. What? How can that be? I called the pharmacy and sure enough, they said this isn’t the first time this sort of thing has happened.  There was no way my pellets would arrive in time for my appointment, so I called my GYN explained the situation requesting another script to be sent to the pharmacy for DH to pick up which he did.  The pharmacy was very good about it and even gave me a discount which I didn’t ask for or expect.  The misdirected pellets can be used on my next appointment early next year.  At least this rant has a happy ending despite the postal service’s attempt to mess my world up.

I update my Mac with the Mojave operating system.  I haven’t figured out all the new features yet. You know what I like and don’t like about the software changes.  I usually find those things out as I use my computer when I can’t figure out something like the way I’m used to doing it.  I know one thing it took forever to download.  I reckon Apple was slammed by other users to get it.  At least I’m up-to-date now.

Now for some giggles!

Visit Sandee for more Tuesday Fun!

While on Facebook last week this funny video appeared in my feed and for all you mewsic lovers then I know you’ll appreciate it.

I discovered 90s icon Boy George and Culture Club newest album release, Life. The first one in 19 years.  Give a listen to this joyful sounding track, “Let Somebody Love You”.

I’m linking up taking a coffee break with Stacy for Random Tuesday Thoughts and joining Eugenia on Tuesday Chatter this morning. You’re invited to come with and let me remind you to visit again tomorrow for not-so Wordless Wednesday.

Seems like lately the USPS has been wildly sending stuff willy nilly to parts unknown – had some stuff ‘lost’ in the system, and never got it. Luckily you were able to get your scrips and hopefully the misdirected package will show up at some point, too. Those funnies are hilarious! I especially loved the one of the kitty writing to the bird. 😉

I had no idea Boy George had come back! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

      Stacy,

My script showed up the Saturday before my appointment. It would have been okay….unless I didn’t jump on things straight off and I’d be up a creek without a paddle. That’s how my luck would be. 😀

I was excited when I saw Boy George was a judge on the UK’s “The Voice”, but didn’t realize he’d put out new music. I’m really digging the island vibe of this number. He’s always been so great, anyway, but this would be my first time hearing him sing since the 80’s when he was still front man for the Culture Club. Wow…memories… 🙂

Mailing to the house would make so much sense for me, except, I do not own a mailbox at my house. We got a post office box when we moved to where we now live, two dozen years ago. That is not a big deal, really, as our post office is within walking distance of our home.

      Michael,

I wish we had a PO Box and while I can walk to the post office, it’s not practically since it’s about a mile and a half one direction. I don’t like walking on the road, even through a quiet neighborhood people drive too fast, not to mention there’s the worry with a dog getting loose. Yes, I’m paranoid or as I prefer to think of myself as extremely cautious! 🙂 No one is going to watch out for me like I am.

Ahhh, the wonderful mail and I can relate. They lost a package of mine for 3 months! The weekend was nice with average temps at 15C but today and tomorrow it is 27C with humidex at 32! Thursday it will go back down to 19 and 13C by the weekend-it’s nuts! I want the cooler weather to stay

      Birgit,

This isn’t the first time the postal service has done this and it won’t be the last. I’m glad I caught the problem when I did. Here’s too cooler weather making it’s way into yours and my areas soon.

We had our first taste of rainy weather today, and it has really thrown me off schedule. For one, I completely overslept by several hours. I’m so used to waking up to sunlight coming in through my windows. I guess now I’ll have to go back to using an alarm. Either that or I was just very tired.

I have always loved Boy George. He is just so pretty. And I like that he is pretty down to earth. I hadn’t heard this new album, but I really like it. It shows how his music has progressed and that’s a good thing!

Thanks for joining me in my little Rockfest today. Looking forward to what tomorrow brings.

      Mary,

Sometimes we need to sleep a little longer than normal in the mornings. We try to do that at least once on the weekend if we can but generally DH has trouble staying asleep all night. He’s suffered with this for years and we’ve tried everything. Poor fellow! Thanks for popping over for a listen to Boy George’s new song!

Quite a different look for Boy George, and he sounds different–I like it!

I’m just as happy to kiss the hot weather goodbye. We’re sort of expecting to expect some bad weather out of Michael to come through, although most forecasts show it passing south of us. Still, they’re predicting 5-6″ of rain in the next 48-72 hours. But the heat is abating…

    • Cathy Kennedy

      John,

I think the system might be the reason for our cooler temps today. They were forecasting upper 80s but I don’t think it got that warm and that’s fine by me. Over the weekend, the nightly cools are expected to drop to the upper 40s. That’s going to a shock! I reckon I will need to get some sweats out of those evenings. It won’t stay for long before it’ll go up again. The yo-yo temperatures will be with us until the end of the month easily.

We just started ordering (refilling) our scripts on our phones. They let us know when you need a refill and then tell you when they are ready for pickup. Just love this app. I’ve had the mail orders be all messed up. I like our way better.

Your blog looks way different today. I’m guessing you did facelift?

Love all the funnies. Thanks for linking up to Happy Tuesday.

Have a fabulous day and week, honey. Love you. ♥

      Sandee,

My blog looks different?? Are you using the same device as you usually use to visit my site? It looks the same as always to me.

I use the phone prompt for refilling on-going scripts at Walmart but my pellets have to be faxed in by the doctor each time. It would be nice to just set that up an an auto fill & ship. I might ask my GYN if they can do that. 🙂

It didn’t have a sidebar this morning, but it does now. I refreshed the page several times, but no sidebar, just today’s post taking up the entire page. 🙂

        • Cathy Kennedy

Sandee, I had installed a recommended plugin and it did something funky but I noticed it fairly soon after. That’s when I deactivated and deleted it. I reckon it removed my sidebar.

      Brian,

What do you expect from humans? They’re trying to be sneaky but pets always know differently and yet they pretend to not know what’s happening just to make their pets happy. 🙂

  • Thomas Anderson

    Hi, Chatty Cathy!

Are you old enough to remember the Chatty Cathy talking doll made by Mattel toy company from the late 50s through mid 60s?

I am drinking (guzzling) black coffee and pleased to drop by and see you again today. As you might expect, our weather is unsettled today because of the hurricane that has blown up in the Gulf. However the storm will not be impacting our area nearly as much as it will the panhandle. Our granddaughter attends school in Tallahassee and she will surely be feeling its effects there.

That third giggle meme is my favorite because it tells the truth. If a man wants a long marriage (or a long life) he will not mention those few extra pounds his wife has gained. 🙂

Your story about the hormone replacement pellets being shipped all the way to California doesn’t surprise me. I have been getting mail order prescriptions for many years and screw-ups are fairly common. The pharmacy calls me every month to prepare my next shipment of meds. A transaction that I think should only take 3 to 5 minutes typically takes a half hour or more because the phone rep always needs to go back over all my information, ask a long series of medical questions, and read from a long prepared script listing the possible side effects of each drug. I guess they need to do all that to cover their fannies, but it consumes an awful lot valuable time, just saying…

I didn’t know that Boy George & Culture Club were still together and recording. I enjoyed his reggae flavored song “Let Somebody Love You.” Thanks for sharing it!

Have a tunetastic Tuesday, dear friend Cathy!

      Tom,

I don’t know if I remember the Chatty Cathy dolls when I was a small but I did know about them at some point, no doubt because of our shared name. I think the hurricane that the Florida panhandle will by-pass East Tennessee but North Carolina doesn’t look like it’ll escape the rain the storm will bring and they really don’t need any more.

The pellet order screw up is the first for me but I do recall years ago when I was using Humira. Every phone call was like you mentioned going over the same information, reading disclaimer documentation, etc. It was a pain to do but I understand why they do it. Nothing is ever made easy these days thanks to people taking advantage of the system.

I wasn’t aware that Boy George & Culture Club were back together either until I went in search of new mewsic. I was glad to see the new album release. He’s a very talented individual. A few years ago, Boy George was on Celebrity Apprentice. I learned a little about him and his struggle with alcoholism which I came to respect his efforts in staying sober. That takes a lot of willpower and I began to think that perhaps he has had a spiritual awakening. I haven’t read anything indicting this but I’m certainly going to delve into it a bit now that he’s crossed my mind again. Thanks for popping by with your coffee cup in hand, dear friend. Have a good day!
