Boogieing with Stereophonics plus BoTB results

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Good-morning!  How was your weekend? We spent our time quietly at home doing pretty much nothing other than relaxing in front of the TV.    I made cheeseburger style pizza for the first time using the same pizza dough and pizza sauce recipes <—link to recipes] with my supreme-style version.  The result was good.  A few tweaks are needed before I share the how-tos.  I plan to give it another try this weekend.  😉

It’s time to do a quick recap of last week’s BoTB.  The voting process started off really strong for Jennifer Rush.  I began to think it was going to be a very lopsided battle but then Vinyl Hotel picked up a few votes and before long the tally was tied.   The votes continued with another wave putting VH ahead and once again the count evened out on both sides.  Finally, the last few voters stopped by pushing Jennifer ahead of the game by one vote and then on Saturday another vote came through ending this battle in a deadlock.

To refresh your memory this is how you voted.

Jennifer – Sandee, Debbie, Amy, Tom, Mary, Birgit, & Stephen

Vinyl Hotel – John, Lee, Mimi, Myke, Eugenia, CW, & Mike

Special thanks to everyone who participated.  Look for my next battle Monday, March 15th.

Marie’s computer/technology saga continues and this is the main reason for her absences last week. She’s not sure when she’ll be back.  Her kids got her a computer as a belated Christmas present.  The daughter who’s a nurse and finance plan to bring it to her hopefully next month.  She said her future son-in-law is going to get her going.   She’s so excited, too.  Anyway, she makes her apologizes and told me to let you know she’ll try to pop in on folks when she can. We miss you, girlie! 😘

Over the past few months, we’ve been watching the documentary series on Apple TV+, “Long Way Round”, “Long Way Down”, and the last one, “Long Way Up”.  The theme song carries the same melody but the lyrics take a slight change with each season.   I really liked the band’s sound so much that I wanted to hear more of their stuff.  I was actually shocked to find they have quite the discography.  Today is your choice on Monday’s Music Moves Me, so I felt this was a great time to share my discovery of the U.K. band Stereophonics with ya!

Fly Like An Eagle  2. Drive a Thousand Miles  3. Breaking Dawn  4. I Wanna Get Lost With You  5. We Share The Same Sun  6. Indian  Summer 7. Maybe Tomorrow  8. Dakota  9. What’s All The Fuss About?  10.  Have A Nice Day

I skipped all over Stereophonics YouTube channel sampling songs from many of their album playlists and I pulled the first songs that grabbed my ear.

The Long Way Round series was fun to watch.  What made the show entertaining is the two fellas making the journey, Ewen McGregor and Charley Boorman.  What I learned is you don’t have to be a motorcyclist enthusiast to like the production and I got to see travel around the world with them all from the comfort of my sofa.

This is a mewsic linky party. Every other week we have a suggested mewsic theme (see side menu) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our mewsic enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

Yesterday was the 98th anniversary of my late FIL birth.  He’s hard to believe it’s been three years since he joined his wife in heaven.  I’m sure they had a good time celebrating in paradise, though.  While I don’t see him as the rock n’ roll kind of fella in his youth,  I could be wrong.  That’s something I never asked him and I wish I had now, so I’m going to close things out with a song from 1946, the year he turned 23, “Choo Choo Ch’boogie’ by Louis Jordan.  Have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

I’m still considering next month’s big A-Z blog fest. The question is, do I do it officially or keep things under the radar? What do you think? Sign up opens today!

  1. Cathy, I hope I can comment because each WordPress blog where you can sign in using Twitter has tried to sign me in and then I get a message saying the link has expired. Some I can “fill in the details” and the comment will submit, and others I can’t. We’ll see if this goes through. I enjoyed many of the Stereophonics songs. Never heard of them before. Thanks for the treat!

    1. Alana,

My commenting systems allows you log in using an email address, so you should be good when leaving a message on sites that are the same. I haven’t had any issues getting yours that I know of but if you do run into problems please send me an email. Thanks for finding time to dance with me. I’m glad you enjoyed this week’s music.

  2. Fantastic mewsic, Cathy. We really love that sound. The last song reminds us a little on Radiohead and the others are so the eighties New Wave-kind ♥♥♥
Thank you so much for the shout out the other day. Granny finally found a little time on the blog. So we added only one song to the post. Hope to join again more often. Pawkisses for a wonderful day🐾😽💞

    1. Nicole,

Thanks for stopping by to dance with me. Let me know if you watch the Long Way Round series. We enjoyed it quite a bit. There was a huge gap between the second and third seasons but we’d love it if they make a forth one soon.

  3. It seems like everyone is dropping like flies. Just disappearing with anticipation of a quick return, only to make their departure more long term. It’s hard to see all my friends leave the blogosphere. I think you should join the AtoZ this year! Maybe it will help drum up new life for us all 🙂 Nice tunes!

    1. Mary,

I understand what you mean. It’s hard to see those we’ve come to know exit Blogosphere. Thanks for the push, my friend.

  4. Awww, I can feel spring in the air too. So cute. I stole the kitty.

A tie is a good thing. Better than one sided.

I miss Marie too. I heard she was getting a new computer. I also hope her physical therapy works out for her. Love her to pieces.

Love the video. Growing up is a hard thing to do.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs, Cathy. ♥

    1. Sandee,

Yeah, Marie is getting a new computer and she’s sooo excited! I miss her, too. Right now she tries to squeeze in a little time on Dave’s computer and that gets a little hairy at times. I remember the days when we had to do that, not only with us but the kids. There were some days I didn’t think I’d ever get my turn. 😀

  5. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Awww-some 4M Monday and BOTB Results Day, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend.

Awww – I just wanna smooch that kitten! I wish I had been up there in K-ville to devour a slice or two or TEN of your cheeseburger style pizza. I know DH appreciated you making it.

I’m surprised that you managed to pull off another tie in your band battle. The way it was starting off on day one, I worried that you’d need to report a shutout. Congratulations on staging another equally balanced contest!

I enjoyed the set of songs by the Welsh alternative rock/Brit pop band Stereophonics. They have a sound that reminds me of Bryan Adams and his band. My favorites are their 2019 single “Fly Like An Eagle” (not the Steve Miller song), “I Wanna Get Lost With You,” a 2015 song, “Indian Summer” from 2013, and one of the band’s earlier career releases from 2001 “Have A Nice Day.”

Happy birthday in heaven to your FIL. As you might recall, I have posted Louis Jordan recordings in the past. It was great to hear another one by him as a tribute to your departed FIL.

That’s right – the A to Z is coming soon! I can’t wait to find out what you intend to do this year.

Have a wonderful week, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

Like you in the beginning of last week’s BoTB I thought it was going to be a shut-out and then just like that things went back & forth. I’m really on a streak with my showdowns which pleases me a lot. I’m glad you enjoyed Stereophonics. I wondered why Louis Jordan’s name sounded familiar. It was no doubt because of your introduction. I’m quite torn on what to do about the A to Z Challenge. If I can manage to get a few sketches done this week then I might pen my name to the sign-up list. Thanks for the encouragement and visit, my friend.
