A-Z Challenge

I’m making it official! #AtoZChallenge

In case you haven’t heard, it’s that time of year again for the A-Z community to come together for the biggest blog fest in cyberspace and it all starts on April 1st!

This will make my 8th year to run around like a chicken without a head from this point forward.  I was 98% certain that I would set this round out.  I’ve felt the self-inflicted strain for months but like a blogging junkie that I am, I can’t say no to the crave to do it one more time.

For the last four years my themes revolved around art sketches.  Ever since I started drawing in 2017, I can tell my skills have improved but more importantly I’m now a confident artist.  Am I pro? Nope, I’m still miles from it and I may never reach that level but that’s okay.  I like what I’m doing and the drive to keep at it continues to burn.

This year because I’m starting later than usual to get my head into the game, my illustrations probably will be a bit rushed, so it’ll be interesting to see how these come together.  What will I be bringing to my sketch pad you ask.  In 2017, I did pencil sketches as opposed to digital illustrations and I drew a little bit of everything just to test my abilities.  One drawing was of Wile E. Coyote and the Roadrunner.  That was a lot of fun and since that time I’ve drawn a few other cartoon characters.  In the last couple of weeks while looking for inspiration for my Thursday art dates I was reminded of how I really wanted to pursue drawing cartoon characters from my childhood and just like that the spark was kindled and the idea born, the Looney Tunes A-Z Art Sketch series!

I hope you’ll stop in from time to time next month to see how I’m progressing. I have a list of past A-Z themes, if you’re curious.  Meanwhile, I’m heading over to take a look at the other themes shared by fellow A2Zers.   Have a terrific day!    X💋X💋, Cathy

just found you while browsing through today, it was that day for me, to search for someone to say something to after just being a bit selfish and just receiving likes and comments on my posts, so you’re gonna bear the brunt of me not trying to be too selective in commenting on other blog posts I come by randomly……how are you doing cathy? it took me much effort to get to where I am at but it was worth it and i wanted you to persist with what you do….the key is to stick with it so long that it just has to work…..all the best and hope to see you around…

  • Frewin55

It feels like being amongst old friends looking down your comments even though its only my second time round…
Looking forward to Looney Tunes – what’s not to love!

    • Cathy Kennedy

Thank you for visiting. It’s always nice meeting new friends through the A2Z Challenge. I clicked on your Gravatar profile and clicked the only blog URL you have linked, photographsandme.wordpress.com, but there isn’t a lot of activity. I could not find your 2021 theme reveal. Do you have another blog that you prefer using to this one? If so, you may want to add that blog to your Gravatar profile or the very least include your direct link in comments for others to find you easier. I tried searching the A2Z theme reveal list but couldn’t find you there, either. I might not be using the right keywords but anyhow, I wanted you to know. Have a great day!

I always enjoy your A to Z posts so I know I will enjoy your posts this year. Simple is good! I just made my decision to join A to Z yesterday, and I’m starting to feel the love now that I have read your reveal post and some others, too.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Alana,

Oh goodie! I’m glad you’re doing A to Z, too. I prefer having things done ahead but since that’s not going to happen, I’m just going to take everything in stride and do the best I can without allowing it to stress me. 😉

  • Natasha

All the best darling. <3 You know how much I love your art. Will stop by. I’m back with #WW this week too.

And thank you for all your loving and warm messages while I was away. Made me smile each time and kept my spirits soaring. Love ya girlfriend. <3

      • Natasha

Thanks so much for all the love and the warm hug dearest girlfriend.

Where can i find our cheery Marie? Does she have a new blog? Do share her details. <3
And give her a tightest cuddle from me.

And a bear hug going out for you Cathy darlin. <3

        • Cathy Kennedy

          Natasha,

Marie does have a blog. You’ll find her at NewXmasDolly but she’s still has “XmasDolly” as her blog name. The thing right now is her computer died and she’s having to share Dave’s when she can. Thanks for stopping by. 😉

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Kathe,

I just noticed your Gravatar profile does not have your blog url linked to it. You may want to update your info so others can find you easier. Thanks for popping by and I hope to see you in April!

  • Birgit

Yeah for Looney Tunes…my favourite cartoons! I can’t wait to see your drawings especially Marvin the Martian. Ooh and Pepe!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Furriends,

It’s not too late to get in on the action. Shoot, I’m just now planning things out. Do stop by when you can throughout April to see what I’m sharing, though. Have a purrfect afternoon!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Hey Janet,

How have you been? I’m already having fun with my sketches. I really hated that I procrastinated on committing to the challenge and then I wouldn’t be in this mess I’ve created. sigh Oh well…I’m not going to stress over it. I’m just going to roll with the punches and have fun. 🙂

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Iain,

I think so. I love the Looney Tunes! That was the day when no one gave any of the exaggerated acts i.e. anvil falling on head, riding a rocket, explosions, guns, … serious thought and we all turned out just fine. Those were the good ole days!

        • Cathy Kennedy

          Iain,

The Looney Tunes from yesterday run today, I’m told, but they have dubbed out the so-called violence, which is what made the cartoons so much fun. It’s obvious to a half-wit that it’s not real with no one getting hurt and that if you did the same thing then something bad would happen. Oh well…it is what is but it’s a shame kids today can’t enjoy those old cartoons.

        • Cathy Kennedy

          Iain,

People are different today. They are way too easily offended. I say bring back the fun of yesterday in entertainment Mayberry RFD, The Love Boat, Magnum PI, Columbo, 24, Trading Places, Christmas Vacation, … I could go on forever! Most stuff made before the millennium was spot on content. Today, there’s a lot of hit and miss going on. I’m so thankful for streaming service. We’re able to watch a lot of stuff without an any additional cost and I’m glad because often we’re disappointed. I’m sorry I tend to ramble. I can only imagine how difficult TV entertainment is these days.

        • Cathy Kennedy

          Iain,

One more thing, I not only visited your blog to read your theme reveal but left a comment a few days ago. I tried leaving a comment just a few minutes ago. It doesn’t show up and when I try again it says duplicate comment. Can you check your spam folder to see if WordPress put me there?

        • Iain Kelly

Thanks for alerting me Cathy, it was indeed buried in my spam folder! Good old wordpress! Approved it now, so hopefully future comments won’t get lost!

  • Lisa

Oh, Cathy, this sounds more fun that even the pin-ups! Different anyway. Funny you mention comment problems. I have been getting emails saying my comments were blocked. But, I’m using the same email as ever. And sometimes the comment posts and I get an email saying it didn’t. Will sure mess up commenting in the challenge.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Lisa,

I’m definitely doing something different over last year from pin-up girls to cartoon characters. lol I’m a little confused. Are you getting emails from my blog saying your comments are blocked sometimes or is does it have to do with your WordPress account in general? Technology is a little screwy sometimes.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Mary,

Thanks for the gentle reminder to play along. I think I just needed one more person to coax me into is all. John and Lee encouraged me as well.

  • Ginabeanz Life in a Blog

this will be my 4th year doing the challenge….and my theme is going to be A- Z animals. 😉 cant wait

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Sharon,

We have to be true to ourselves. As much as I tried to sit it out, I know if I managed to do it then I would be mad at myself. I’m thankful for the gentle nudges of friends which made me agree to another year of it. Best of luck to you with all of your busyness!

  • Sandee

How fun and I’ll be here to enjoy your cartoons characters from your youth. They are mine too. How fun.

I linked this post to Happy Tuesday.

Have a fabulous day, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Sandee,

Everyone loves the Looney Tunes. Those old cartoons were a wonderful source of good entertainment and the despite what some might say with all of the gun shooting, head clobbering, and explosions we all turned out to be well-rounded good folks. 😉

  • lissa

Looney Tunes are fun though the ones I can remember is Bugs Bunny. I’m not as fast as you with drawing so I wouldn’t be able to create 26 drawings in a month. I hope you have and good luck with the challenge.

    Have a lovely day.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Lisa,

Sometimes I think I’m slow at producing an illustration but it’s obvious I do not cater skill or patience to crank out superior designs like yours. I absolutely love what you do! Thanks for dropping by, dearie. xx

  • Thomas Anderson

    Hi, Cathy!

You have more blogging drive and stamina than anyone I know, dear friend. As I have told you many times, I love your sketches and I am eager to see your Looney Tunes drawings from A to Z!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Tom,

I appreciate your vote of confidence. I sure hope I have enough stamina to carry me through April. LOL I started on my sketches yesterday and I’ve managed to do four so far. If I can continue doing two a day, which I won’t, but if that’s my average then I’ll be three-fourths done. 🙂
