Monday's Music Moves Me

Back in Time with Back to the Future

Awww Mondays

Sandee, hostess of Awww Mondays at  Comedy-Plus is this month’s honorary co-hostess. This third week of September, her theme is Movie Songs! This should be a lot of fun.  I started building a playlist of the first songs that popped in my brain only to realize that I was on repeat mode from past similar themed weeks.  You probably won’t believe this but the last time we stepped foot in a theatre was 1990. My gears got to cranking sounding like a broken bicycle chain coming up with the idea to share a movie soundtrack when my eyes fell on one of my favorite movies, Back to the Future.  Okay, let’s get this party started.  The first YT playlist I borrowed the 10-song set missed a few tracks from the film but it’s incomplete.

Song tracks: 1. Power of Love ~Huey Lewis & the News 2. Time Bomb Town ~Lindsey Buckingham 3. Back To The Future ~Huey Lewis & the News 4. Heaven Is One Step Away ~Eric Clapton 5. Back in Time ~Huey Lewis & the News 6. Overture 7. The Wallflower ~Etta James 8. Night Train ~Harry Walters, Jr. 9. Earth Angel ~Harry Walters, Jr, 10. Johnny B. Goode ~Mark Campbell

I created this short playlist with 4 additional titles from the movie..

1. Mister Sandman ~The Four Aces 2. The Ballad of Davy Crockett ~Fess Parker 3. Pledging My Love ~Johnny Ace 4. Out the Window <—scene clip (uncredited Eddie Van Halen)

I loved going to the movies during those early years of our marriage but I hated missing segments of the film for unplanned bathroom trips, nasty theatre seats, and sticky floors.  Home video rentals replaced the need to escape to the Big Screen from a much smaller box from the comfort of our living room, an affordable way to entertain on a budget with a growing family to now home streaming new or old movies from our plasma TV with no children at home.  I by far prefer to watch movies this way low cost, endless breaks without loss of viewing, and no mess chairs or floor….unless we spill something.

This is a music link up.  Hence, your post must contain music (at least one song) or your URL is marked “No Music”. The party co-hostess are now featured in my right side bar underneath the 4M banner. The guidelines are simple.  Every other week, a suggested (not mandatory) theme is given to build your song picks. YouTube and other music sites have options to create and embed playlists or individual songs into your post. On the off weeks, we dance to whatever music moves you – your choice. Finally, to access the dance party, just add your music post below, and visit others on the floor. Let the party begin!

Big news alert…we have a grandson!  I’ll be sure to try to fill everyone in on the details next week.  My brain has been super fuzzy!  Also, I forgot to mention that my mid-month BOTB published on Friday and that I’ll be back next time with a new installment of Wild Wednesday featuring another revamped drawing in my Pencil Sketch Inspired Procreate Art Design series. This is CAAC signing off,  have a boogietasticweek!  X💋X💋, Cathy

Quotes from the film

First, huge CONGRATULATIONS, Grandma! 😀 You must be over the moon and I hope this joyous occasion will dull some of the grief you’ve been dealing with. 💖

I love the whole Back to the Future series of movies and your playlists make me want to watch them all again. Good thing we have the DVDs. 🙂

      Debbie,

The arrival of our little grandson is the most joyful news, especially after so much sadness. My grief still lingers and I expect to have ups and downs but that’s normal. In time, I’ll feel more like myself. I do have lots of good memories and I know I’ll see him again one day. Becoming a grandma again is sweeter the second time around. 🙂 Thanks for dropping by, my friend!

Who doesn’t like the Back to the Future trilogy? NOBODY…that’s who. Great music and a great idea for the playlist. I have to admit, I borrowed your idea and used a different movie. Have a blessed week.

    • Cathy Kennedy

Yeah, I saw what you did yesterday and I liked what you did. I’m glad I inspired you to go in the same direction. Thanks for joining the party, my friend. Have a boogietastic week!

      Marie,

Thank you, lovely lady! I am doing good. My bloggy friendships have been such a blessing to me during this difficult time. God is so good! I’m happy you enjoyed my movie pick and songs. Have a boogietastic week, my dear!

That was a good movie and a fun playlist. I used to love going to the movies too, not any more though, it’s an awful experience.

      Brian,

I’m sure it’s a thousand times worse today than it was when we went. Frankly, I don’t miss it. Not to mention new movie releases have been horrible for years. It’s such a shame how far south good entertainment has plunged. Maybe, if Hollywood would get their noses out of politics forcing its views on the public and back to simply writing good script that entertain people that things can revert a bit to the way it was. I won’t go holding my breathe, though. Thanks for visiting, my furriend. Have a pawstepping good week!

I haven’t been to a cinema since 1994, either, unless you count the two times our church rented a theater on a Sunday morning to view the Chronicles of Narnia movies and hear a short message on them.

Nice memories of a good movie, thank you!

      Mimi,

I can’t believe theaters are still operational. Every home has a big flat screen TV and the ability to watch movies various ways. I like the idea of “going to the movies” but not in the theater anymore. Thanks for visiting, my friend!

I absolutely loved Back to the Future. It’s a gem and now you have me wanting to see it again. Surprisingly, I didn’t like the first sequel and gave up on it, but maybe I should give it another try. Never saw the third movie. Husband and I rarely go to the movies- at home we don’t have to be annoyed by other people talking and the bathroom is only a few steps away. Alana ramblinwitham

Well, this is right up my alley:) It works since I’m doing who won the Oscar them this week. How are you doing? You have been on my mind and in my thoughts. My dad has been gone for 35 years now and I miss him. I wish I was older when he passed ( I was a little over a month shy of 24) because I’d ask him about so many events he went through. I hope you check my blog from. Last Wednesday when I was inspired by angels and in your honour. Funny, you created an image of a male angel and now your grandson is born and, I bet, your dad will be his guardian angel. Love your theme which make me want to see this film again. We j7st saw The Equalizer 3 yesterday and it was really good.

      • Cathy Kennedy

        Birgit,

First let me say, thank you for your very touching post last Wednesday. The music tribute brought tears to my eyes. My emotions definitely are still fragile and just like that my eyes get all leaky. I really appreciated the special post on my behalf in the loss of my daddy. If our loved ones indeed become angels in the afterlife, I know Daddy is guardian angel to all his grandkids and great grandkids. Our grandson makes his 11th great-grandchild. 🙂 In The Equalizer 3, is Denzel Washington in it, too? I hate the TV series. That’s just so ridiculous having Queen Latifah as “The Equalizer”. roll eyes Hollywood takes every opportunity to ram its agenda down the publics throat. A woman in such a role is not realistic and totally not enjoyable to watch. sigh I’m glad you stopped by. I will look for your mid-week post. Have a boogietastic week, my friend.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Ramona,

I’m doing well. The prayers and love of good friends like yourself has been a tremendous help. I know Daddy is at peace in the arms of our Savior and I know one day I’ll see him again. 🙂 Being human gets in the way sometimes. I do miss him. Don’t worry about the linky. I’ve done that sort of thing before. I removed the one you messed up, so don’t worry about. I’m sorry you’re having vision problems. That’s a real bummer! Thank you for joining the party, my friend.
