#WW Painted clouds

Hello, kittens & dawgs! While visiting Mingus Mill in North Carolina recently, we spotted soft pastel painted clouds on the hills surrounding Cherokee.

However, after driving around to find a better advantage point to photograph the clouds we found that we weren’t looking at clouds, but smoke from nearby fires. Ironically, earlier in the day I received a text warning and didn’t pay attention to until we saw the flames on the mountainside.

Are you alarmed when you see something like this close up? I admit I am a wee bit, but I knew we were in no real danger. The fire seemed contained and the locals were dropping water on the blaze by helicopter.

Sending a round of applauds and cheers to this week’s featured photographer…

We had some blue skies and some picturesque pink clouds early this morning! They were beautiful. We’re supposed to have 55 degrees, sunny and blue skies…. fingers crossed. HUGS

oh no – and here I thought there were some of the prettiest clouds! Certainly made for an amazing picture though. I remember once when I was at our summer cottage that we rented each year with some other families, a forest fire started in the woods near us. We could see all the smoke and eventually see trees close to us going up in flames. The water bomber plane was scooping up water on the lake right in front of our cottage, because there was a long stretch of water. It was really something to see. Until the smoke got really thick and we were all “um, maybe we shouldn’t be seeing this right now. it might be time to go!” But, fireman were standing on the shore with us and never said to evacuate. And soon it was all over. I was not a photo ninja back then, so no pics.
