Thursday Art Date

Welcome Great Pumpkin #TADWR

When I was a kid Halloween was a lot of fun.  We didn’t do a whole of dressing up, mostly we wore those suffocating plastic masks. That was about all my folks could afford but once my mom got us costumes. Today’s theme art theme is ‘Halloween’.

After browsing Rain’s ideas, I knew what I’d sketch for this prompt, none other than Linus waiting for the Great Pumpkin.

Halloween isn’t Halloween without Trick or Treaters.  I wanted to sketch the  Peanuts gang but I was really short on time this week, so I decided to do a simpler illustration of everyone’s favorite born loser, Charlie Brown, checking to see what treats he got.

Oh yeah, I couldn’t forget Snoopy as the World War Flying Ace.  It looks like Snoopy is in trouble.  Darn, that Red Barron got him again!

Thanks for stopping in with your coffee for a peek at my masterpiece and …oh yeah for not spilling it on my artwork. 😉  It’s been a super pleasure to share my sprinkle of talent I have with you this morning. 😘 If you like to see what others are bringing to the art play date, then I invite you to high tail it over to Rain’s Garden to browse through the gallery of artistry!

This morning, I wrapped up things with Rocktober Music Fest but I have one more contribution to add since it’s Halloween that I came across after my good friend, Tom, indirectly prompted me to revisit The DeFranco Family’s archives. How could’ve I forgotten this song is beyond me but do you remember, ‘Abracadabra’?

Don’t miss a beat, return tomorrow for two separate posts. First, my latest BoTB, so please come by to cast your vote and second, the newest edition of Friday Fun Stuff filled with giggles, fill-ins, & more! 😉

Oh LOL, you bring back some fun memories. My favorite is poor Charlie Brown and his rock, what a stitch. My heart goes out to him, but I still can’t help but laugh. You really do have a talent and it is fun to come see what you have done each week. Hope your Halloween was fun (and yes, I remember those awful masks). Great fun, Cathy …

Great job on the art. HAHA The DeFranco Family….Oh my gosh I have not thought of them in years……and years….oh, and years.

Peanuts reminds me of childhood. For years my mother made our Halloween costumes. They were so much nicer than those masks (although as I kid I wanted to be like everyone else and get the mask).

HAPPY HALLOWEEN GIRLFRIEND!!! Doesn’t really look like Halloween here it looks more like Christmas because it’s snowing pretty heavy out there. Glad we got home right away from my doctor’s appointment it’s a mess out there, and it’s still coming down. Have a great weekend girlfriend! See you on Monday!!!

Linus is one my favorite characters from Charlie Brown. He seems kind of confused but happy. Charlie got a rock? It almost seems expected. Snoopy is cute even crisis.

    Have a lovely day.

Happy Halloween Cathy!! 🙂 I LOVE your peanuts sketches!!! Your pumpkin patch is really detailed, I love it. I just watched that special last night! Poor Chuck…always getting a rock lol…Snoopy is in trouble!!! Great job!

At first I thought you posted the 80’s song Abracadabra. I never heard the 70’s one! Perfect for today. Thanks so much for joining in!! 🙂

    Hi, Cathy!

You’ve been a mighty busy beaver this month with all these double posts. It’s been more hectic for you than the April A to Z. I couldn’t miss your delightful torrent of talent on display in this assortment of Halloween scenes. All three reveal your gifts as an illustrator. Your introductory anecdote made me smile and then laugh when I remembered the suffocating plastic and rubber masks I used to wear to go out on trick-or-treat night. One with an amusing story behind it was a rubber witch face that I mail ordered. I’ll never forget the time my parents threw a Halloween party and invited my aunt and uncle over to the house. My uncle was usually tipsy and that night was no exception. Knowing this, my dad told him that one of the elderly party guests had taken ill and he wanted my uncle to see her. Dad led my uncle to the bedroom where my big brother was lying in bed face up wearing that rubber witch face. My uncle freaked out believing it was actually an elderly woman who had passed out at the party. We all laughed about that night for years afterward.

I never heard that bubblegum “Abracadabra” song by The DeFranco Family. The “Abracadabra” song that sprung to my mind was the hit single by Steve Miller which I am sure you remember.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful Halloween, dear friend Cathy!

Hi Cathy, another great post, and even swinging music to accompany it, just great! Love your Halloween art with Charlie Brown and Snoopy. Great ideas there, love your sketches. I didn’t spill my coffee on your artwork, just on my pullover, so no problem….Have a fun Fright Night! Hugs, Vaerie
