Monday's Music Moves Me

Weekly Top 40 Inspired Story

Here in the United States, we go through the odious ritual twice a year to change our time.  This means for us Daylight Savings Time ended this morning at 2am.  Those affected by the change may find themselves a little grumpy until their internal clock adjusts.

Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me on Sunday!

The theme this week is submitted by The Sound of One Hand Typing.  He  suggested that we write a (clean) love story and use the names of two or three songs from the Top 40 on Valentine’s Day of some year. Here’s an example John did for another challenge to help get you going.

I love this idea the first time I read John’s original post and I’m happy he tossed this in to give us a challenge.  Well…it was a bit difficult for me.  I didn’t know where to go to find radio stations that listed this information, but I found Top40Weekly and I went with the week ending February 17, 1979 to compose my short story.

No Tell Lover

Talking as two carpooling buds head to the car one afternoon. Chad says, “Be honest, Bryan… Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?

Rolling his eyes, he snorted sarcastically, “Dude, you’re hopeless in that area!”

“So, you’re saying I just need more time in the gym at the Y.M.C.A.?

“No, I’m saying You Got to Be Real about these things.”

“How does a guy like me grab the attention of my Lady?”

“Just be yourself and ask her out, Chad.”

“Really?”

“Really, man! You Can Do It and besides, will it be a real Tragedy if she says no?”

*** a few days later ***

Bryan’s phone rings. “Hey Chad, what’s up?”

“Hey, man! The Gambler in me took a shot at it and I asked Rita out.”

Don’t Cry Out Loud if she said no, man.  Just Shake It off.  Heaven Knows, I’ve done that a million times… but don’t let me babble on like an idiot, what did she say?”

Bryan could hear the smile coming across the line, “Let me just say, I have my Dancin’ Shoes on since last night and I Haven’t Stopped Dancing Yet.

“You’re on Fire now, Chad. That’s awesome news!

“Yeah, I feel My Life rocks!”

I wish they would get rid of the time change! Switching to DST always affects me for a few days afterwards. 😝 John had a clever idea and I enjoyed your story, Cathy. Fun playlist, as well. 🙂 Rod Stewart, The Bee Gees and Kenny Rogers are favourites. I didn’t know you had a YouTube channel, but have now subscribed to it. Love the cute porcupine sketch!

      Marie,

I was getting really worried about you, girl! I’m sorry you haven’t been feeling well with your bad and on top of that you’re having more computer problems. Aren’t you using the new computer you got a couple of Christmases ago? Don’t worry about a thing, I will certainly let the girls know what’s going on with you. The important thing is for you to take extra good care of yourself. Sending love, hugs, and prayers your way, darlin’!

          Birgit,

If you keep scrolling, the comment box is at the bottom. 🙂 John’s song title story theme was a great idea. I think it would be fun to do it again. 🙂 Thanks for dropping by, darlin’! Don’t worry about where you put your message. It makes me happy all the same!

I like your hedgehog picture – so colorful. I haven’t heard No Tell Lover in a long time. And, although I don’t consider myself a Swiftie, I love her Shake it Off. It’s great advice (if you can do it!) Alana ramblinwitham

Did I confuse you with my song selection Shake (Ian Matthews)? I can see how easy that’s possible. I should’ve listed the artist in parenthesis or something. But…I do like that song by Taylor. It has such a fun vibe!
