Hello, Kittens & dawgs! For the A2Z challenge, I sketched a Wylie E. Coyote & the RoadRunner illustration. I shared it a couple of weeks ago with you but I thought it would be fun to look at some funny Looney Tune inspired images.
smack forehead Warner Brothers oppressed Wylie E. Coyote all of these years. I knew that old coyote could catch that sneaky road runner even if he didn’t have the brains to do it.
There were a few kids who were short a few marbles, though.

I have two photos to share taken late March, the day after DH’s eye surgery. He had a follow-up appointment with his surgeon at his Maryville, Tennessee location and this is the view I had sitting in the car waiting for DH. It was a gorgeous day with a gentle breeze.
Being unprepared for this photo-op with my big girl at home, I managed to get some nice captures with my trusty iPhone 5s – the camera on-the-go!

Today, I Celebrate The Small Things with Lexa!
I’m celebrating… the good follow-ups DH is getting from his retina re-attachment surgery. At his last appointment, he learned his retina is completely attached. Yay! I’m celebrating… DS’s 23rd birthday this past Monday. It seems like yesterday he entered this world all 21″, 9 pounds 7 ounces of him! Whew, he was a big, big baby! DH and I follow literally in his shadows now. He’s 6’4″ and weighs more than 200 pounds. Big babies grow into big men. It’s funny how the roles reversed. 🙂 We’re proud of our boy! I’m celebrating… surviving last month’s A to Z Challenge. If you missed my posts Art Sketching Through the Alphabet, then I invite you to browse my archives.

Here’s my response to this week’s fill-ins:
(1) Cell phone vs landline.
(2) My most treasured piece of jewelry is my engagement and wedding rings.
(3) This year, I learned I can draw after years of thinking I didn’t have any or very little ability which I proudly publicly displayed in last month’s A to Z Challenge.
(4) I would like to finish writing and illustrating my children’s book about my brother before this year is over.

Oh gosh…..Love the Warner Bros cartoons! Love the last one because we were not morons so I wish they would stop censoring them. I really like the last picture you took with the cow in the background. I love a landline and will not get rid of it. I talk to too many people who only have a cell phone and often there it too much background noise or it can fade in and out or even cut out. My Landline costs me $40/math whereas many seem to have $100/math cell phone bills.

It’s crazy how they feel the need to censor these classic cartoons and yet they have these horribly violent video games where kids go into mortal combat. Now tell me, which needs censorship – the Looney Tunes or said video games? When we had a landline, we were paying about $100 for unlimited calling and that’s the very reason we switched to VoIP service. Magic Jack is dirt cheap (after you buy the adapter) at less than $3 per month for unlimited long distance calling. For two smartphones with Verizon, we get unlimited calling/texting plus 2GB shared data for about $80. We don’t use much data unless we’re away from home so this works out well for us. We use our cells to call family and friends on all the time. Our home phone gets rarely used. Your landline monthly bill is a lot lower than most people’s. I don’t know why more people don’t look into alternate ways to lower their phone bill costs. There are so many ways to save now.

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen Bugs and crew – so funny! Glad to hear that DH is recovering. And you do have a big boy. They grow so fast…and tall. But that’s exactly what we hope will happen. Enjoy!

In my opinion, the Looney Tunes is the best animations in cartoon history! I bought one of the collections on Blu-ray a few years ago. It’s supposed to be the uncensored version but we haven’t watch it yet. *sigh* We really need to do this just for the fun of it. Kids do grow up too darn fast. One day they’re little and the next they are 6′ 4″ tall. Even my daughters are taller than my by three or four inches. lol

What you said about not having to say “Don’t try this at home” is spot on. We live in a world where we have too many stupid people. Just like at the Walmart we now have to be carded to by Fix-A-Flat. If someone is stupid enough to intentionally breathe in a chemical that is designed to stop airflow, maybe we should let them.

Okay, that’s the first time I’ve heard about having to be carded for “Fix-a-flat”. People are so stupid. I remember the first time I ever heard anyone say, “Kids don’t try this at home” I looked at the TV bewildered with the thoughts running through my head, “You’re kidding right? Who in their right mind would do this other than the person I’m watching?” Little did I know how the tide was shifting toward stupid. Thanks for popping over for a visit!

What a beautiful dog resting behing that pretty fence! Wylie Coyote and the Roadrunner’s cousins live where we do, we see them quite often! Roadrunners are adorable. 🙂 So glad to hear about the successful retina re-attachment surgery, that’s a blessing for sure! You definitely have artistic talent (we are our own worst critics), and I hope you do finish that children’s book, it sounds important! Congrats to your son on his birthday too, really it should be the parents who get to do the celebrating! 🙂 I’ll be back in the week ahead to check out your sketches, and your A-Z reflections post. Every time I look at Wylie Coyote and the Roadrunner I think of my southwestern blog buddies such as you. Dessert life is interesting but I don’t think it’s suited for me. I prefer the green hills of east Tennessee. The children’s book idea is important to me, especially since my brother is no longer alive. This would be a way of honoring and preserving a piece of sweetness. Thank you for rah-rahs to boost my confidence, even more, my friend. Have a good weekend!

DH’s process is wonderful and we’re looking forward to more improvements to come. This is sure an eye-opening (pardon the pun) experience. I didn’t have an idea what something like this entailed nor the dangers. We knew one day he would probably need cataract surgery since he has relatives who had this procedure. The retina detachment/reattachment process is prematurely dictating the need for it in the coming months instead of years. I appreciate your kindness always. Art is different for each person. This is something I couldn’t wrap my brain around because I felt art had to be purrfect and mine is not that but I realized artists’ styling is what makes the art beautiful. No two artists are alike just like no two people are the same which uplifted my budding ability throughout the alphabet. I know the strong woman that you are will find the courage to pursue and to share your hidden passions, too. The bottom line is if everyone in blogosphere hates your work, which I’m sure they will not, you’re doing it for you and not everyone else. This was my approach and am all the happy for doing it just that way. The happy surprise was how well received my work was by others such as you which warmed my heart every day. So, thank you for being such a delightful, tenderhearted friend rallying me on each day. 🙂 Have a good weekend and thanks for stopping by, dearie!

Thank you for your encouragement. Like you, I have perfection issues. I’m working very hard on getting over that. My vision issues as well as nerve problems causing shaky hands are adversely affecting my photography, but I am posting the pictures anyway. I find so much joy sitting out there trying to photograph the birds. They are such beautiful creatures. It is very peaceful for me. Like you said, even if no one else likes or appreciates them, I am doing it for me and to share the beauty that Heavenly Father has created out there, even in a place like this little town.
I think that your attitude towards art and individual differences is wonderful. I love your bravery! You are a great encourager and a very sweet friend. I am blessed to have you in my life. 🙂

I’m not sure what we’ll be doing in heaven one day but I think whatever it is, we’ll have a grand time doing it. I often tease DH I hope there is ice cream in heaven because we no there won’t be any worries, sickness, or death in heaven which means…I can eat all the ice cream I want! lol Many blessings to you, my friend!

I don’t think that I’ve had that flavor yet, but I love Rocky Road. We just bought one of the new seasonal flavors called Groom’s Cake. Loaded with chocolate and a hint of strawberries. It is yummy. There is one called Bride’s Cake, too. I can’t wait to try that one, too.
I hope you get a full selection there very soon. That whole listeria thing was very upsetting. I figured, once they got it back in stores, if it was still infected somehow, then I was just meant to die by ice cream. I’m not going to worry about it. 🙂

Rocky Mountain Road is better than regular Rocky Mountain ice cream. It has three kinds of chocolate covered nuts plus lots of delicious chocolate flavor. I liked your comment…That whole listeria thing was very upsetting. I figured, once they got it back in stores, if it was still infected somehow, then I was just meant to die by ice cream. At least your friends can say, she went with a smile on her face doing something she loved! So glad to hear that your husband’s retina is recovering. Sweetie had the old freeze cryogenic surgery on his retina back in 1971, but he is now blind in that eye. It’s amazing how far they have come.

The iPhone is amazing as a camera! I use mine whenever I don’t have my big girl camera. DH uses his solely and does a great job. I agree the “good old days” were just THAT but wouldn’t it be great to have more of those good old days? 😉

Bugs is my favorite, too. Yep, big babies usually make big men as in DS’s case. I look at him sometimes and think, “He came from me?!” With my petite built and his size at birth, the doctor and nurses had a bit of time delivering him. Everything worked out well with a happy, healthy baby in the end and that’s all I wanted. Thank you for visiting!

Oh as far as doing things when I was a kid I had an older brother… he was six yrs. older than I and for a while there it was monkey see monkey do until I found out that most of the time he was messin’ with me. huh… Big brothers!!!! He was always getting me in trouble.

I did not have any older siblings so I didn’t fall into that dangerous pitfall of “Monkey see, Monkey do” mindset but I’m sure I watched some of the older kids in my neighborhood taking the lead from what they did. I don’t think I did too many stupid things because I was pretty much a big scaredy-Cathy. It’s a good thing because Mom had enough on her hands with my little brother who was always in trouble. 😀

This is another fun-filled post with plenty of fodder for conversation. During childhood I was a regular viewer of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons. The characters, Bug Bunny in particular, along with the story lines, shaped and influenced my style of humor. It is interesting to examine the facts and learn that the coyote could have overtaken the roadrunner but, I did some fact checking of my own, and learned that the roadrunner is capable of limited flight. Therefore it seems like anytime he needed to escape the coyote he could simply fly up to the top of a cactus. Of course the vignettes would not have been nearly as funny if the animals had been accurately depicted. Animals can’t talk either, but almost all them did.
It’s wonderful news that DH’s post-op recovery is going well. Now we just need to get your ear fixed up. Happy birthday to your son. At birth I weighed something like 8 pounds, 9 ounces. Your boy was indeed a jumbo size baby and, as a man, he has me beat by nearly 3 inches and 15 pounds.
You learned something about yourself this year during the course of your A to Z experience. You learned that you have talent as a sketch artist. After holding back for a long time, you bravely put yourself out there and showed the world what you could do. That’s the only way to live – just go for it.

I agree if the Looney Tunes behaved as expected then the cartoons wouldn’t be nearly as funny as they were and despite the hysterically funny and sometimes dangerous behavior witnessed by these animated figures most of us turned out ok. Bugs Bunny is my favorite Looney Tune character.
DH is blessed. He’s still experiencing oddities with his vision but we’re hoping in the coming months these things will go away. DS was a jumbo baby and to look at him and then look us one would doubt he was ours, except he looks so much like DH. DH is average built and height (155 & 5’10”) and I’m quite petite (115lbs & 5’2″). DS takes after his paternal great-grandpa and great-uncles who were big men. Those genes skipped DH but then DH’s dad isn’t as big as his pa and his brothers.
I did learn something wonderful about myself through last month’s A2Z challenge. It was a happy discovery, too. I’m glad that I took the plunge…finally! I appreciated your encouragement more than you’ll ever know. Thanks, dear friend. Now, I better scoot over to your place. Have a good weekend. 🙂

When I was a kid I used to do some pretty crazy stuff that was inspired by things I saw on TV.
The pictures are so idyllic. Don’t know where they were taken, but they are pretty representative of a lot of the rural areas in Blount county. Hope I’m able to spend a few days in Maryville this summer. My wife has less vacation time this year so that will cut our travels down to a shorter time.
