Valentine’s Day #humor + Friendly Fill-ins

Hello, Kittens & dawgs!  On Tuesday, I shared my simple hand-drawn Valentine’s Day cards & other V-Day ideas which inspired today’s sillies.  You either love or hate the upcoming holiday but regardless of how you feel about it, I’m here to administer give you your weekly dose of meds giggles to make you smile or laugh with these Valentine’s Day humor! ?

VALENTINE DREAMS…

One morning Emma woke up with a start.  Her husband Jim asked what was the matter, she told him, “I just had a dream that you gave me a pearl necklace for Valentine’s day. What do you think it means?”

“You’ll know tonight,” Jim said.

That evening, Jim came home with a small package and gave it to his wife. Delighted, Emma opened it – only to find a book entitled “The meaning of dreams”.

A Thoughtful Valentine’s Day Gift….

Jim asked his friend, Tony, whether he had bought his wife anything for Valentine’s Day.

‘Yes,’ came the answer from Tony who was a bit of a chauvinist, ‘I’ve bought her a belt and a bag.’

‘That was very kind of you,’ Jim added, ‘I hope she appreciated the thought.’

Tony smiled as he replied, ‘So do I, and hopefully the vacuum cleaner will work better now.’

My dearest wife is always going on and on and ON about NOT making a fuss over her on Valentine’s Day.  She repeats that it’s the thought that counts.

Well, I put a lot of thought into the gifts from previous February 14ths but she didn’t quite take to any of them like I assumed she would. Here’s my list – see what you think:

  • Brand new mop and bucket.
I was thinking it would be fun to see what color the floor was because I couldn’t remember.
  • Romantic dinner at fast food restaurant.
I was thinking that she might like to go inside for a change instead of fetching dinner at the drive through.
  • Chocolates left-over from last year’s candy box.
I was thinking of how proud she’d be of me for not wasting food. She’s been nagging me for years to recycle.
  • Midnight moped ride through the park.
I was thinking that I’m getting too old to be peddling on the bike.
  • A Dozen roses printed on high-quality photo paper. One of my favorites this – I was thinking these would last a lifetime instead of just a week.
  • 45 second back massage.
I was thinking any longer and she might think I was interested in something else.
  • Windows 10
I was thinking how proud she would be to be a part of the technology crowd.

Knock, Knock,
Who’s there?
Olive
Olive who?
Olive you!

Let’s continue the fun with Friendly Fill-Ins with Annie and Ellen. Every Thursday four fun and easy blank statements are posted for us to borrow, complete, and share on our site. The point is to simply have fun linking, reading, and meeting others who enjoy this sort of thing.

Here’s my response to this week’s fill-ins:

(1) My favorite kind of cookie is the kind that doesn’t make you fat. big grin Seriously, I never met a cookie I didn’t like but if I have to pick just one then I’d go with chocolate chip cookies.

(2) A cross between Bette Midler and Goldie Hawn would play me in a movie about my life. Their movie characters always cute, a little sassy, and a whole of funny and I’d rather have my life portrayed as a comedy than a drama any day.

(3) Love is a flower, and you its only seed. That’s not original but it’s purrtty sounding and here’s the song inspiring my answer.

(4) For Valentine’s Day, I plan to make chocolate heart-shaped petit fours (without marzipan coz I don’t have it). I’ll share how that baking project turns out.

I made an adjustment to my Friday posts. I rolled Skywatch Friday and Celebrate the Small Things in one post for Thursdays.  Let’s begin celebrating with Friendship Friday and Friday Features linky parties where you’re sure to make new friends and get lots of inspiration!

That’s a wrap for now, but if you like mewsic then I invite you to come back for Monday Mewsic Moves Me. Until next time, have a fototastic weekend!

Yvonne, if you find a chocolate chip…heck any cookie that won’t make you fat then let me know! Why is it everything tasty is so high in calories? *sigh* Thanks for visiting!

  • XmasDolly

Hahahahaha Those are really good. Have a great weekend. Theme is up… theme around trains or railroad? In the title, in the song, whatever fun tunes can be found! 🙂

    • Cathy Kennedy

Marie, thanks for the heads up! I had my post (Valentine’s Day theme) done but added one featured song for Stacy’s theme choice. I’m glad you enjoyed the giggles, my friend. Are you doing better since you got your injection? I hope so! Have a good weekend, dearie!

  • Annie

I would much prefer my life movie being a comedy over a drama as well. I love Bette Davis! Your heart-shaped petit fours sounds wonderful!

That cupid comic is so funny!

    • Cathy Kennedy

Annie, we’ll see how the petit fours turn out. Today, I made some heart-shaped Raspberry Pot Pies which I got the idea from another blogger earlier the week. I’ll snap a few pix and share this easy peasy recipe! Thanks for visiting and have a good weekend!

You are funny! Oh, my. *grin* Your answers are always good ones. Unfortunately, my life has not been a comedy, so I was forced into a drama. But, I persevere, just like Bette Davis did. Your Love is answer reminded me of Neil Young’s song, “Love is a Rose”. Here is the code: https://youtu.be/Drw_LGvl1n0 Linda Ronstadt did it, too. But, Neil wrote it. Big hugs, my friend!

Annie, You have to have self-preservation to make it through life or else you just slip down that slide to no return. Speaking of Bette Davis, there’s a new series to televise March 5 on FX called, “Bette and Joan” (Crawford). It’s supposedly about their Hollywood feud. Susan Saranda plays Bette and Jessica Lange plays Joan. This might be good. I think we’ll give it a try. 😉 Thanks for sharing Young’s YouTube “Love is a Rose” vid. As old as it is, I figured it would ring a bell with me but it didn’t until I heard Linda’s version. I actually like cover better than Young’s original. Have a good weekend!

OK….that ad for the funeral arrangement must have been thought up by a man because no woman would be that daft. The picture of the 3 men is funny and it seems as they get older, the pants seem to go higher up on their waist. I have to write Valentine’s Day because when I read V. Day it is too close to V.D. day and that is a whole different type of loving:)

    • Cathy Kennedy

Birgit, I admit when I pen V-Day, I also think of WWII Victory Day and yes, that is a whole different kind of love. I’m glad we can celebrate that occasion with gladness. Can you imagine how the world might be had Hitler not been crushed? I shudder to think!

  • 15andmeowing

Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, I always enjoy your answers. I am with you on having my life portrayed as a comedy. I like your love answer and the song too. Good luck making the petit fours, you are ambitious. I can’t wait to see the finished product. Have a great weekend! PS: Great comics, the cupid one cracked me up.

  • Tamara Narayan

That funeral add takes the cake! Yeah, nothing says “I love you” more than planning for your death. LOL

I love cookies too. My favorite would be my mom’s meringue cookies because she puts in tons of mini chocolate chips in them.

    • Cathy Kennedy

Tamara, thanks for visiting. The funeral ad is drawing a lot of comments. This is just a weird time for a funeral home to advertise, as if any time is good when you’re referring to this subject! lol

  • lexacain

That cupid comic is my fave, so funny! I cannot believe the ad for the funeral arrangements – yuck!

    • Cathy Kennedy

Lexa, the cupid comic is one only a woman can relate to. lol The pre-arranged funerals VDay ad was strangely weird. Wouldn’t it be interesting to see how many responded to it? 🙂 Thanks for joining me for some giggles!

  • Thomas Anderson

    Hi, Cathy!

I’m sipping (guzzling) Starbucks in the pre-dawn darkness and coming close to spit spraying my computer screen as I read your Sillies. They are all good ones.

Last year for Valentine’s Day, Mrs. Shady asked me to take her some place she has never been before. I grabbed her hand and led her to the kitchen.

    (BA-DUM BUMP)

In that meme about the three kinds of men who do not understand women, the man on the left looks an awful lot like my dad did at that age. It’s hard to believe that funeral home thought it was a good idea to promote their pre-arranged burial services in a Valentine’s Day ad, but I’m sure they had some takers. Can you imagine the look on a gal’s face if she received a gift like that (or a cemetery plot) for V-Day? 🙂

Thanks for the smiles and giggles, dear friend Cathy. I wish you and Robin a safe and happy weekend!

    • Cathy Kennedy

Tom, I’ve been up since the pre-dawn hours as I finish the small pot of coffee off. Your V-Day surprise for Mrs. Shady made me smile but I know the kitchen isn’t a place she’s never been with your glowing tales of her cooking. I betcha she playfully hit you on that one. lol No doubt a woman would be horrified to receive pre-paid funeral arrangements or a cemetery plot for V-Day. I’d be like, “Are you trying to tell me something?” Thanks for joining in the fun this morning and I hope you and Mrs. Shady have a lovely weekend, dear friend!
