Thursday Two Questions

Two Questions Thursday Meme Hosted by Blessing Reflections

Okay….this is totally new to me and I’m feeling a bit out of my element, but I thought this would be fun to do. My task is to list two questions, yes two questions that I would like to know your answer to. They can be serious or silly – makes no difference…anything goes!

1. If you met an alien, not the illegal kind, I’m talking an extraterrestrial from a distant planet, what’s the first thing you’d say to this far-away visitor?

2. Are elephants truly afraid of mice? (Get behind those answers, do not simply respond yes or no on this one. I want to see your imaginations working here folks.).

    1) I will say, ‘Hi, you are….?’

    2) Yes, Elephants are afraid of mice but a different kind of afraid.. Hehehe.. See, elephants are kind by nature and I once read the personality of elephants. It is said that elephants are very devoted by what they first see. So using my imagination here, I will take it as upon seeing such tiny animal – mice, they are afraid they will squash them, knowing how big they are as compared to mice..

Yeah, just some silly thoughts here.. 😛 😛

1: I’d say ‘Welcome’ but be a little wary of shaking hands, tentacles, scales or whatever.
2: Yes, elephants are afraid of mice. Elephants’ feet are very sensitive and mice in danger of being squashed bite hard. Would you like your feet bitten by an angry mouse?

  • Lui

    1. I’d probably invite him in for coffee, set up my camera and whisk him for an Oprah-like interview! I mean who wouldn’t?

    2. I think they are both afraid of the other. And I am afraid of them both! But I wouldn’t mind riding and hugging an elephant but never a mice!

1-I’m afraid I would have to say “excuse me” while I went to clean out my shorts.

2-Elephants and people alike are freaked, in my opinion, by the frantic scurrying around of God’s little creatures.

I hope to join you all next Thursday.

Genie, you’re the second brave soul to want to hug this fictious alien. Perhaps it comes from all the years you’ve taught school. What teacher doesn’t want to give hugs? LOL. Cute response to elephants being scared of mice. Thanks for joining Thursday’s fun!

  • Genie

I would walk up to the alien, give him or her a big hug – if he or she would let me – and then I would ask how he or she has chosen our planet to visit.

Do I think elephants are afraid of mice. I would say yes. A mouse could scamper up an elephant’s leg and tickle him something awful…and then the elephant would have a heck of a time finding the little imp because he is so little. It would be very hard for an elephant to scratch himself. So I will go with “yes.”

@ Lui, yeah that’s cool an Orpha-like interview. You’d be the toast of the town. Every media outlet across the country would be wooing you for seclusive rights to your video interview. LOL Although, elephants are fearless creatures, they can be addled and if I were a mouse I wouldn’t want to be underfoot with an 8-ton beast stomping about, would you? But, I’m like you would like to ride an elephant NOT a mouse. =D Thanks for your answers.

Joann, you’re a braver soul than I to hug something from a distant planet who you don’t know if will swallow you whole or not. Didn’t you watch, Men In Black? LOL

Thanks for stopping by and making this a fun first experience! 😉

    1. I’d give the alien a hug just to see how it felt and I’d say Welcome to my home.

    2. Elephants are afraid because they don’t want the mouse running up in their trunk 😀

  • Cathy Kennedy

I believe I’m with each of you, if an alien landed on earth, then I’d either turn tail and run or be numb in my spot unable to speak at all. The extraterrestrial will then think all earthlings are morons and will zip off in search of intelligent conversation elsewhere.

I’ve always heard the myth that elephants are scared of mice. I’m still unclear where this originated, but snopes debunked this notion. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/of-mice-and-then/

However, I did read mice will for some odd reason will bite an elephants foot which the beast can not feel and then their foot is terribly painful. I guess if I couldn’t feel something biting my foot, then I’d be afraid of it to, especially when I was taking a nap.

Enjoy the last day of September and thank you — Krislin, Margaret, Amanda, and Janice for playing Two Questions Thursday!

Hi Cathy, 1) If I met an alien, I would say. “uhhhhhhhhh, help!” “ahhhhhhhhh” In other words, I would be scared out of my mind and could barely utter reasonable, or understandable words.
    2) I have no idea, and have not heard of this expression before. So thanks, I learned something new today. Although, I would think elephants do not fear mice, unless the mice are pests, for example crawling all over their humongous and thick skin. That would be more annoying than fear, I supposed.

  • Margaret Duarte

If I met an alien, I’d probably use sign language to communicate with him or her. For one thing, fear would probably make me unable to speak, and for another, our languages would be foreign to each other. I’d try using facial gestures at first–the most universal, I think. Then would come the hands. What happened from there would depend on the alien’s response, of course. Elephants and mice. Oh my. I think the mice’s speed and zig-zaggin movements would be scary–or irritating–to an elephant, just as they are to me.

Welcome is always a good way to start things off with your close encounter of the outer space kind.

Well, you know…I’ve always thought the same thing, big ole bad elephant can squoosh a tiny rodent with his pinkie toe, that is if they have pinkie toes, easily. But, if they are scared what chair can they jump up on with out breaking it into splitters?

    Thanks for playing, Icy BC!

  • Icy BC

    Great questions!

1-If I met an alien, it would be scary but then I think I would say welcome to earth!

2-Haha..you remind me of the movie, but I really don’t think that elephants afraid of mice. The elephants have pretty big feet, and can use their trunks to squat the mice any time.
