Thursday Two Questions – Dancing with the Stars

Welcome to the Thursday Two Questions meme hosted by Blessing Reflections!

One of my favorite TV shows is Dancing with the Stars.  The big surprise this week was when Brandi got voted off,  keeping Bristol Palin safe and moving her into the final three.  Brandi is a natural dancer, whereas Bristol is only beginning to bloom.  I must admit, she is by far the most improved on the show but is not equally matched with the other two couples.  That being said, we are in the final round with three stars remaining who will claim the dance trophy for Season 11?

My Thursday Two Questions are:

Who was your favorite star on this season from the start? My favorite star on this season was Kurt Warner.  At times, he was a bit all feet and as my son would say, “You could go surfing on him.” but there was a certain charm about the way he performed.  I think it’s because of the kind of person he is.  He’s just a very likable, all-American kind of guy.  He’s a famous quarterback – very athletic and started off as an underdog making it into the big league.  This guy worked in a grocery store before trying out for professional football. Doesn’t that sound like a fairy tale or what?  He’s a dad of several kids and husband to a beautiful woman. He stands strong in his faith on national TV and not just in church on Sunday mornings.  He’s an inspiration.  His professional dance partner, Anna Trebunskaya is poised with grace, elegance, enthusiasm, and energy. She’s a pure joy to watch every season.  I’d love to see her dance her way to the top in Season 12.  Kurt got voted off two weeks ago, and surprisingly he survived that long in the competition.  He made significant improvements from the beginning of the show, but not enough to woo the audience to the finals apparently.  He was fun to watch and I could tell he was having a wonderful time on the show.  Isn’t that a lot of why the stars do it anyhow?

Who is your personal pick to win?  I predict Jennifer Grey to take the prestige dance trophy.  Forget that she co-starred with Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing in 1987. She has the breeding of two talented Broadway parents, Joel Grey and Jo Wilder who’s accolades include acting, dancing, and choreography.  The seed didn’t fall too far from the tree, as the old saying goes. Jennifer has performed her dance routines with near flawless perfection.  What amazes me more than her demeanor on the dance floor is her ability to compete despite her chronic neck pain.  And a woman who just turned 50 this March, all I can say is, “Wow! You are smoking hot, Jennifer!”  A lot of women don’t even look as good as Jennifer does now as when they were in their 20s. I wonder if she’s had Hollywood’s plastic surgeons tucking and snipping on her bod or has she been fortunate to age gracefully? We may never know her secret. Jennifer’s professional dancer is Derek Hough.  This young man is personable, sensitive, talented, and fun.  He demonstrates his compassion toward his partner every season, as clearly displayed with Jennifer this competition.  His playful attitude spills over into his dance style, which makes viewing his routines a joy.  He’s light on his feet and has moves like Fred Astaire, but cuter. Jennifer and  Derek deserve to take home the trophy. It’s safe to say, I’ll be rooting for this duo next Monday.

I haven’t been watching the show but I have kept track of it in the news. From what I have read Bristol should have been gone by now. I think Jennifer Grey is a very talented woman and deserves to win. It will be interesting to see if Bristol wins because of the voting and not her dancing skills.

    1) I think Derek and Jennifer should win, but after Tuesday, I’m afraid it may not even possible. I was disappointed with the outcome.2) I agree with Jo, above, Bristol should have been gone a long time ago. She is too stiff, and her none facial expression is some what a turn-off for me to see..

I don’t watch Dancing with the Stars, so I don’t know about the talents. But I know from watching American Idol, sometimes the best or better one don’t win, just because of the voting.

Hopefully the best will win, as they deserve it.

All I have to say about this is that the whole state of Alaska must have voted for Bristol.

Politic plays an important role I suspect!

I haven’t watched this since Cloris Leachman was on so I can’t really play. I’m always amazed at the routines the professionals know and think they must have fabulous memories and stamina.

    1. Brandy was my favorite and I was heartbroken when she left. I predicted she would win from the very beginning.

    2. First let ms say that Bristol seriously needs to go. If she wins, I’ll never watch that show again. I like both Jennifer and Kyle. Jennifer is a better dancer but I like Kyle’s performances. I do however think Jennifer and Derek should win.

What’s really sad is that this show is no longer about talent which was proven Tuesday night when Brandy left. It’s a popularity contest and that is sad.

Hi Cathy. I watch very little televsion and therefore don’t watch “Dancing with the Stars.” I have heard about Bristol, though, (who hasn’t). I feel sorry for her. I think she’s being used. But then again, maybe that’s what she wants right now. I wish her the best.

@Caren…interesting and yet sad about the voters for Bristol. I do admire her, but like you I believe Brandi should have been in the top three. I love Jennifer & Derek! It’s true, anything goes at this stage in the competition. I would have sworn Bristol would have gotten the boot. My jaw hit the floor when I learned the results.

I agree about Jennifer Grey and Derek DESERVING to win, but whether or not they DO win, remains to be seen.

As for Bristol, I read this morning that there is a group similar to the “Vote For The Worst” group that votes for the worst on American Idol (in an attempt to skew the votes) who is voting for Bristol. THAT could cause a HUGE upset…and…just could make her win.

She is the most improved but definitely doesn’t deserve to win, however I do admire her guts and determination…it couldn’t have been easy for her.

That being said, Brandi and Max deserved to still be in contention. But…Max has a polarizing personality (with the judges and the viewers) and he didn’t seem to completely “click” with Brandi either.

At this point, anything can happen.
