Wordless Wednesday

This is something you don’t see everyday #WW

Purrrs & hisses, Kittens & Dawgs! Last month on our way home from Helen, Georgia we saw something that caught our attention that you just don’t see every day.

I guess this is a missile from a submarine but there wasn’t any information posted nearby so I’m clueless.  There were a few other interesting relics on site.

I’m not sure where the road will lead this year photographically speaking. I know last year I didn’t do much.  Perhaps, I need to make a new year’s resolution to make a point to capture the fun, the interesting, or weird things digitally instead of focusing only on what’s pretty.

…new year’s resolution to make a point to capture the fun, the interesting, or weird things digitally…

There you have it my first 2019 commitment. 😉

My linky party is open to all regardless of what kind of post you have as long as you’re a personal blogger.  All commercial websites, advertisers, or other spammy, non-fun links are subjected to immediate termination by the linky hostess!

What can I say 2018 went ZING and before I knew what happened another year was all ZIPPED up.  Here it is a brand new year once again!

Looking back on things, it felt like I did a lot of ZIG-ZAGGING all year but things really began to cook starting early November with the purchase of two major appliances within two weeks of each other. By the end of the month only days after Thanksgiving, we had to buy a new car when our 2003 Camry seemed ZAPPED of life.

The problem with the old gal was fixable but an expensive one but our Toyota mechanic said they had a high success rate.  This solved the need for a second working vehicle to serve as a primary commute for DH to and from work so to not wear out our brand new ride. This filled our hearts with ZEAL!

Toyota was booked for the holiday season.  Our expected date to get the ’03 back was the first of the new year.   Fortunately for us, some auto jobs got canceled, pushing us up in the queue and ZOOM got her back the day before my birthday.

All went well on the day of pickup. I made it all the way home without incident until I tried to pull the car through a narrow space to park her.  Let’s just say what happened next remains a mystery to me.  ZOMG!!! I nearly pulled the driver’s door off the hinge, scrapping and denting the side of the car from the gas tank door all the way forward.  That’s bad enough in itself but somehow in the chaos, don’t ask me how because I don’t remember, my leg was outside the vehicle and got lodged between the cars. The ’03 I was driving and our even older car (1987) parked in our driveway.  Trying to not panic, I thought about Jesus, my strength, my guide, my ZEN! I put the car in drive to free my leg – ZING!

Even I’m not so ZANY that I can blame the whole incident on that but perhaps I can pin it all on my over-ZEALOUS ambition to do the job alone when I should’ve used discretion to wait.  In truth had I waited 30 minutes then DH could’ve helped, saving me the embarrassment, the injury,  and us the additional car expense.   I should’ve listened to the soft voice in my head telling me to wait and the did ZILCH until DH arrived.  A trip to the urgent care facility near the house revealed no broken bones.  I had a horribly nasty double knotty bruised leg (both sides) from my knee to my ankle and instructed to icy frequently with it elevated often for a week.

Once again, we have the car towed and two repair estimates later reveal the awful damage done.  The second one was nearly half the cost of the first place. You don’t have to be a brain surgeon to figure out which one we went with but to make a long story short and to be fair about it Joe Neubert Collison (thank you guys for your integrity) can’t do partial work and recommended All Colors Body Shop.  They did a ZINGER of a job — well done!

The old gal is back in our care once again.  Thanks to DH’s guidance I managed to safely get her safely through the tight spot and parked but brother, oh brother it sure would be nice if our bank account was prefixed before the decimal a ZILLION more ZEROS! That sounds a little greedy but I’m feeling needy.  Maybe, I should start a GoFundMe page! 😜

Don’t worry, we’ll survive. The ZEST for life is what keeps us going, getting us through the thick and thin! 😉

A side note…. this is one of those moments I failed to capture digitally the interesting because it would’ve been so pAwesome to have taken before and after shots of the old gal.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t feeling up to par the next day with an achy leg I barely could walk on and that’s when we had the car towed.

Today’s post is in part sponsored by the letter ‘Z’ and the ABC Wednesday community

Those are interesting photos, Cathy and definitely not something you’d expect to see. Would love to know the history behind Hitler’s chainsaw. So sorry about your car woes, but I’m glad your leg is okay.May there be no more mishaps for you this year!

      Debbie,

I would’ve liked to know more about Hitler’s chainsaw, too. I read a brief description someone left online which stated that Hilter’s chainsaw is an MG42. It fired at twice the speed of its counterparts living bodies in a swath. That sounds purrty gruesome! War is ugly but the evil that man does is a nightmare! My leg is doing much, much better at nearly 4-weeks post-injury. I’m so thankful nothing was broken. Yes, I hope I don’t have any more mishaps, either. 🙂

      Mimi,

Oh, I hope our car woes are behind us too! fingers crossed, saying prayers The one thing I can say is borrowing no complications from the human factor, our experience with Toyota vehicles have always been stellar, especially with the ’03 Camry. The problem with the engine seal leaking was the first big thing. Its overall health has been better than our 1987 Camry. That really surprised us because when we bought the ’03 our thought was, it probably won’t be as good or long lasting since that’s generally how a company improve their products. I’m glad we were wrong and hope our Avalon supersedes our expectations.

I thought, at first, you were going to blow up your old car with that rocket missile… I was scrolled down looking for pictures. Talk about a potential moment of Zeal for you!

Best Wishes for the coming new year, Cathy.

      Michael,

I’m telling you after the events we’ve been through, so I accidentally (never on purpose!) blown her up, then I wouldn’t be any more surprised if I woke up tomorrow finding my head sewn to the carpet. That’s how December was rolling for us. Zeal would not be what I’d feel. We love that old car and I’m so glad we got all the problems (knock on wood) taken care of! Maybe, I should start a GoFundMe account to offset these expenses. Can I count on you for your support? 🤣

    That’s some interesting war equipment.

Your car saga was something else. We do tings sometimes and wonder just how did that happen. I’m glad it all turned out okay and you didn’t break anything.

    Yes I voted yesterday.

Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday, Cathy. Love you. ♥

      Sandee,

For now, the drama with the car is behind us. We still need to get rid of the ’87 but hopefully, that won’t entail any drama, other than feeling sad when the old gal leaves us for that junkyard in the sky. We have some fond memories with her. She served to bring all three kids home from the hospital, countless day trips to the mountains with our family, multiple vacations, and so much more. How do you say goodbye to a car that served us so well? I know, I’m a sap!

Ouch about the leg getting caught. Keep an eye on that because sometimes traumas like that can lead to a blood clot in the leg.
You definitely kept your new yer’s resolution with the photos- keep up the good work. 🙂

      Ellen,

I shall. I was concerned about that, too but after asking Google my mind is at ease and I don’t think that’s a concern in my case. It’s much improved today (3-weeks out). Thanks for the concern, dearheart!

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy first Wordy Wednesday of 2019, dear friend! I hope the new year is off to a great start on your side of the screen. Like you, I have sad memories of troubling events that took place in 2018 that I am happy to put behind me. It feels good to begin with a clean slate, doesn’t it?

I remember you telling us about that incident with the car. I can’t picture how you injured your leg trying the park in a narrow space, but I am thankful that you were not more badly injured. Your story reminds me of a calamity in our family a couple years ago. We picked up our car from the shop after having a complete routine maintenance performed – replacing belts, filters and fluids, rotating and balancing tires, the whole nine yards. The bills amounted to hundreds of dollars because we also needed some expensive replacement parts. A few days later, Mrs. Shady’s son totally demolished the car in an accident requiring us to buy a new one.

I look forward to examining more pictures taken during your travels with DH, more of your delightful creative sketches and more of your danceworthy mewsic picks all coming up in 2019 here at CAAC. Once again, happy new year to you, dear friend Cathy, and thank you very much for your support!

      Tom,

Yes, we’ve both been through some ordeals in 2018 and hopefully, this year will bring us sunnier life circumstances than storms. Thanks for such a good friend! Have a wonderful weekend!
