Monday's Music Moves Me

This Day 33 years ago

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Welcome to the Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me dance party!  Today is DD1 birthday but I’ll get to that a little later.  Right now, I want to share with that this week’s theme is your choice song picks.

Last month I was reminded of an oldie from the late 70s by Samantha Sang, Emotion.  That was a hot single but you know I don’t recall much if anything else by Samantha.  I thought this would be a good time to expose myself…no not as in bearing it all but to enlighten my mind with some songs by the artist.  If you’re like me unfamiliar with Samantha’s music, join me by playing her Emotion album

❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵

This month’s honorary co-hostess is Marie from XmasDolly

❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵

This is a mewsic linky party. Every other week we have a suggested mewsic theme (see side menu) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our mewsic enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

This day 33-years ago, we were blessed with the sweetest little bundle, DD1! To honor her on the day of her birth, I’m closing the dance party with the top 5 songs in the USA on this day.  Happy Birthday, DD1!

Before I go, I want to mention due to technical issues the previous week which kept some from accessing my site, I am going to publish on Sunday’s from Monday’s Music Moves Me blog for anyone who wants to link up early or to check out the weekly theme.  I will also continue to boogie here each week.  That’s a wrap for now. Have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

Pawkisses for a Happy Birthday to your DD1 and that was some great mewsic of Samantha Sang that we can’t remember, but some songs sounded familiar, but the song with the BeeGees we remember very well and Michael Jackson of course. Great song for the Birthday girl😸Extra Pawkiss🐾😽💞

Happy belated birthday to your dear daughter #1! By 1988 I had abandoned top 40 style radio, yet I still knew two of the 1988 playlist songs (Dirty Diana and The Flame) and I enjoyed hearing the Bruce Hornsby song (he’s not new to me, but that song is.) As for Samantha – I only knew the one, title song. It made a nice background music for doing other chores.

To tell you the truth I never heard that song “You keep me dancin”, I like it! You pick such great songs my friend and Bee Gees is always safe with me. Love their sound/music. I wonder how they came up with that sound? To say the least it went over really big & really big $$$!!! Now a big, big, huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your little bundle of joy, and a HUGE BUNDLE OF HAPPINESS TO HER & YOU! HUGS TO YOUR BOTH & BLESSINGS!!!!

Wisdom is an optional feature? Or age? 🤣

I agree with Tom: there’s a definite Bee Gees influence in Samantha’s music. I like it!

    Happy birthday DD1!

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Awww-some 4M Monday to you, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend.

I wanna smooch that aww-some little hamster, and wish the cake in the cute rascal’s paws was for me. However, I am delighted to know it’s for DD1. Happy 33rd birthday to her! I wish her and her family a wonderful day of celebration and reflection.

Thanks for posting Samantha Sang’s full Emotion album. Soft, easy listening mewsic is not my bag, but nevertheless I enjoyed hearing the other songs on her LP. In 1977, when the album was recorded, and 1978, when it was released, The Bee Gees sound was red hot. The influence of the Brothers Gibb is evident throughout Sam’s album. Several of the songs were written by Barry and Maurice, and Barry sang harmony and background vocals on a few tracks. Samantha actually sounds like a female member of The Bee Gees.

That photo of you holding your sweet little bundle DD1 made me misty, Cathy. Look at her eyes, already filled with wonder and love for mommy! I also enjoyed the set of songs you posted that were popular the day she was born. Debbie Gibson was as much a style icon as a successful pop singer. It was great to see that pristine restored video of her chart-topping hit “Foolish Beat,” a video that played often on the MTV station where I worked at the time. As Wiki explains, that song earned Debbie << the record for the youngest person to write, produce, and perform a number-one single entirely on her own, at age 17. >> It was also fun to see the Minneapolis sibling band The Jets, another group whose vids were frequent flyers on my mewsic-oriented TV station.

Your closing meme made me smile. Yessum, I’m older. That’s taken care of, but I’m still waiting to get wiser. 🙂 Once again, happy birthday to your darling first daughter. Have a wonderful week, dear friend Cathy!

      Tom,

Thanks for dropping by bright and early this morning. I agree Samantha Sang does sounds very much like the Bee Gees. I read a a little of about her history with the Gibbs and I’m glad you mentioned some of these pointers. I appreciate the birthday wishes for our DD#1. I can’t believe it was 33 years ago today that she was placed in my arms. The years zipped by faster than I ever thought imaginable. I wish I held onto those moments a little tighter. Have a boogietastic day, my friend!
