Monday's Music Moves Me

Teenage Artists

Cute as a button! Check out more Awww Mondays at Comedy Plus hosted by Sandee

Good morning, peeps! How was your weekend? I hope everyone is feeling rested and refreshed.  On Friday, we celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary and I don’t know where the years have gone.  I’m a happily, blessed gal for such a fine, loving husband.

This week’s theme Patrick is requesting songs written and/or recorded by teenagers (under 18) in honor of National Children’s Day

TRACKS: 1. Jambalaya ~Brenda Lee 2. Paper Roses ~Marie Osmond 3. One Bad Apple ~The Osmonds 4. ABC ~The Jackson 5 5. Ocean Eyes ~Billie Eilish 6. Uptight ~Stevie Wonder 7. Hometown Glory ~Adele 8. Do You Know (What It Takes) ~Robyn 9. Losing Grip ~Avril Lavigne 10. Sound Asleep EP ~Evanescence

I think all of my artists in my line up are teenagers except for little Miss Dynamite who was 11½ when she recorded “Jambalaya”.

This month’s honorary co-host is Patrick from Adventures in Weseland

This is a music link up.  Hence, your post must contain music (at least one song) or your URL is marked “No Music”. The party co-hostess are now featured in my right side bar underneath the 4M banner. The guidelines are simple.  Every other week, a suggested (not mandatory) theme is given to build your song picks. YouTube and other music sites have options to create and embed playlists or individual songs into your post. On the off weeks, we dance to whatever music moves you – your choice. Finally, to access the dance party, just add your music post below, and visit others on the floor. Let the party begin!

The linky party wouldn’t appear on my site like usual for unknown reasons.  I can see it on the back side but it’s not visible to you.  I guess the WP gremlins are messing with my site or I did something screwy to cause it.  Oddly, I’m able to display the alternate code intended for free sites or those that aren’t java script enabled.  If anyone other than me is experiencing this issue and have an answer then I’d love to hear about it. I’m sorry for the trouble!

Update…I figured it out and problem now resolved! YAY!!👏

I Want to Hold Your Hand BOTB Results

It’s time to report in on how things went in my June 1st BOTB.  The ballets revealed a strong favor for one of the three cover artists. The final count was Anne Reburn was Diedre and Mimi’s favorite.  The Iveys was Birgit and Lee’s preferred choice.  The Beatles Revival earned favor with Stephen, John, Debbie, Ellen, Brian, and Mary giving them the battle.   I know you aren’t surprised faces to learn they won. I admit I was worried about using them them because they stayed true to the classic version.  You never know if that’s going to be a good or bad thing.   I’m glad each of the girls snagged a couple votes each because I do like both of their covers.

I’m unsure if I will run a BOTB in July.  The point of the blogging break is to relax when things in Blogosphere is slow.  4M will remain a weekly party with the dance floor open to anyone with music to share theme or no theme.  Usually, I share something else by the winner at this point but they don’t have much on their YT channel.  I decided instead to use Kidz Bop in honor of today’s 4M theme singing,  I Want to Hold Your Hand!

Have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

Ah-Ha! CAThy, I has tracked down your BOTB Results announcement.

Congratulations on your 44th Anniversary! That’s quite a milestone. (I dated a young lady for 4 months once, and that was my personal record.)

Ordinarily, I would not vote for a recording that sounds so much like the original song, but this Beatles tribute band really had the sound down perfectly. And the female singers singing a “man’s viewpoint” song just didn’t work for me.

The big surprises is what keeps BOTB interesting, methinx.

I hope we’ll see you around for BOTB on July 1st, but I wish you and yours nut’n but the best, either way.

      Stephen,

I dated a young lady for 4 months once, and that was my personal record.

      You make me laugh!🤣

I’m sorry you had difficulties finding my outcome post. I should’ve included it in the title. Sorry ’bout that! 😬 Yeah, I’m like you I normally don’t vote for artists who sound a lot like the original and I do understand why the girls “man’s viewpoint” didn’t click with you. I didn’t like that, either. This isn’t an uncommon practice but seriously they are doing a cover and it’s okay to change it. It would be soooo much better if they did!

I may wiggle in a July 1st battle. I’ll see what I can do. I really hate not taking part. I put the mid-month battle aside so I guess I shouldn’t totally skip the 1st. I better get things fixed so I won’t forget. Thanks for the nudge. Have a bandtastic day, my friend!

        CAThy ~
That’d be terrific if you are able to wiggle in a July 1st Battle.

If you need some help, I can search to see if Tiny Tim ever did any covers of Beatles songs.

        (Gee… I hope that didn’t come off sounding like a threat. 🙂

Happy 44th anniversary darlings. You are special in more ways than you know and a blogging break is must. I keep taking them as and when I feel like a detox.

I love this version of Jambalaya, never heard it before.
Loved Patrick’s suggestion of a teenage playlist. Mine isn’t a teenager but an Indian Young adult doing a soul-stirring Uklele cover.

    Have a lovely break.
    Big hugs and kisses. xoxo

      Natasha,

I won’t be completely away from blogging. I’ll be running the 4M party but everything else is on hold for awhile. Thanks you for the warm anniversary wishes.

I’m glad you liked Patrick’s theme. He did a great job, didn’t he? I’ll be by your place soon, my dear!

        • Cathy Kennedy

          Natasha,

Internet traffic is quite slow so summers are a great time for bloggers to step away. Oh yeah, the 4M party won’t miss a beat! Hopefully, people will join when they can and when they can’t they’re having lots of fun! Thanks for popping by for some music and to join the party, my dear.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      John,

Does this mean “great minds think alike” or I just got lucky? Probably the later. My mind doesn’t feel so great these days. 🙂 Thanks for joining the party, my friend!

        • Cathy Kennedy

I haven’t heard that saying before. lol Oh I definitely do not have a filthy mind. I’m the slowest person ever to catch on when it comes to things of this nature. I get embarrassed a little when I don’t understand but DH assures me this is one of the things he likes about me and then I don’t feel so bad.

    • Cathy Kennedy

Is that like WOW, that’s wonderful or WOW, I can’t believe he’s put up with her for 44 years? lol I’m SO blessed with a fabulous, loving husband. God knows His stuff for sure. 🙂 Thanks for the happy wishes, darlin’!

Happy Anniversary to you and DH. Last month we celebrated no. 49,,,proof positive that time flies when you’re having fun.
I was not aware that Adele was in her teens when she first hit the ventured into the recording studio. It’s hard to believe that powerful voice came from a teenager, but Tanya Tucker and Leann Rimes were both in their early teens when they charted no. 1 hits. Great playlist this morning. Have a blessed week.

    • Cathy Kennedy

I’m not sure that I remember Tanya Tucker was a teen when she became a recording artist. I do recall that Leann was, though. I remembered that you and the Mrs celebrated quite an anniversary milestone recently. Next year will be the big 5-0 for y’all. I hope you have something extraordinary planned for that one! Thanks for the happy wishes. You’re so right about the fleeting years being positive proof that time does fly when you’re having fun. I couldn’t have been given a better husband. God knew exactly what I needed when He brought the two of us together. 🙂

  • Erin the Cat

A very happy aniversary to you both. No matter the type of music you listen to, the best is the sort you make yourself or with pals.

      Erin,

Ahh, that’s really sweet…”No matter the type of music you listen to, the best is the sort you make yourself or with pals”. Thanks for the anniversary wishes!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Mimi,

An upside down world these days just makes me sick at my tummy. lol But, it’s always so cute to see small ones doing this pose. Thanks for the anniversary wishes and yes, I’m dreaming on and on and on. One day, my dreams will come true, not for a Prince Charming because I already have him but for a new forever home. 😀

  • Debbie D.

Happy (Belated) Anniversary, dear Cathy and DH! 🎉 I’m not surprised to see the Jacksons and the Osmonds prominently featured in a teenage artist playlist. They certainly had their years of fame. 🙂 Billie Eilish is a young marvel and Adele is, well, Adele. Fabulous even in her younger days! I enjoy “Little” Stevie Wonder’s music much more than his later output. Thanks for including him. Your BOTB outcome was no surprise, as the winning band sounded just like the Beatles. Major nostalgia kick, at least for me. I finally got my results published too. I hope you have a lovely break and enjoy the summer!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Debbie,

The Beatle Revival kept their cover true to the original and are an excellent tribute band but I guess a cover more unique would stand out with the pack but it looks like I was wrong big time. 🙂 Billie Eyelash as DH calls her has some good songs but usually I prefer others who cover her stuff. I had no clue Adele was a teen when she broke into the industry. She has a really unique voice. I liked Stevie’s music from the 70s and 80s.

  • diedre

“When you cease to dream…” love that.
Great battle too! Thanks for sharing the results.
What a fun playlist. “Paper Roses” really took me back 😉
    Happy Anniversary!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Diedre,

Thanks for popping by to check the outcome of my last battle. Marie Osmond was such a fresh pretty gal when she released “Paper Roses”. I love how music transports my mind. 🙂

  • Alana Mautone

This was a fun theme to research. I had no idea that Amy Lee was only 13 when she started to form what became Evanescence and I very much enjoyed the song you selected. I picked different Stevie Wonder and Billie Eilish songs. I knew musical talent showed up early in life but didn’t realize how many modern singers got their start when they were in their teens. Hi, Cathy!

I’m back from my blog break and happy to see you posting a 4M feature on Sunday as you used to do. Happy 44th wedding anniversary to you and your lucky hubby DH! Mrs. Shady and I celebrated our 28th yesterday.

Awww… that baby is so cute! I have seen toddlers assume that position many times as they experiment and explore the world around them.

I enjoyed this batch of songs waxed by teenage and even pre-teen vocalists and groups. Isn’t is amazing how Donny Osmond sounds like Michael Jackson on “One Bad Apple”? I read that Michael said he and The Jackson 5 were going to record “Apple” first, but chose “ABC” instead. Stevie Wonder was one of the most exciting soul artists of the 1960s, but when he mellowed out in the 70s and 80s, I lost interest in his work. I’m happy to see that you included one of the early recordings by Swedish popper Robyn Carlsson. A few years ago, I posted her 2010 hit singles “Dancing On My Own” and “Indestructible.”

I’m sorry I missed your June 1 band battle, but happy to learn that the gal I’ve been promoting, Anne Reburn, collected a couple of votes for her Beatles cover. I also enjoyed the cover of “Hold Your Hand” by Kidz Bop.

I have a new post running at Shady’s Place and it will be my last regularly scheduled post for the next five months. I will still be around the blogosphere through Tuesday and will poke my head in on Wednesday and Thursday if I see any new activity from you, but after that, I need to pull the plug until sometime in November so that Mrs. Shady and I can shift into high gear and move to a new state and a new home

Have a wonderful week, dear friend Cathy!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Tom,

I removed your duplicate comment. I’m sorry for the weirdness with my site and trouble you had leaving one. Thank you for the anniversary wishes. That’s cool that y’all and ours are a day apart. Our first Sunday School teacher and his wife when we moved into town were ten years into their marriage and their anniversary was either the day before or after ours which I thought was cool. So, happy anniversary to you and Mrs. Shady! I understand you were busy when my June 1st battle was going on, so don’t worry about it and you’re fixing to get super busy. There will be future battles waiting for you, just do what you need to and return to Blogosphere when you can. You’re gonna be missed. Thanks for squeezing me into your last few free days. I’m glad you enjoyed my song picks. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!
