Monday's Music Moves Me

Takin’ It To The Streets

Thank you for including me in your Monday, kittens & dawgs! ? My friend, XmasDolly who puts on the Monday’s Music Moves Me ? linky party is a bit short-handed and I volunteered to co-host for as long as she needs me.  You’re invited to hit the dance floor with me and this week there isn’t a theme, so that means “Your Choice“.

This is a mewsic hop, so please link only relevant posts!?

Recently on Facebook, I stumbled across a video of Fly By Night Rounders with Abby the Spoon Lady performing on the streets of Asheville, North Carolina and I thought, “How fun!” This inspiration led me to look for street mewsicians for my Takin’ It To The Streets post.

Folly Abby on Facebook, as well as Fly By Night Rounders.

I thought I’d check out the street entertainment in Knoxville and found this young man. There was little I could find on him but I hope you enjoy the vid. This is definitely something you don’t see every day, a cello player on the street!

Jeremy Welch YouTube Video is no longer available.  He has a dream, can you help? Visit his GoFundMe page.

Another Knoxville act I found is this fun jazz band, Old City Buskers, during my search.  This makes me think of the prohibition era, what do you think?

One more thing, if you’re the creative type and looking for more memes to connect with then Impulsive Artistry hosts the Monday meme Feeling Inspired? where you can share your photography, crafts, mewsic, and more posts.   What mewsic are you listening to lately? ?

I hope to see back tomorrow for my new meme, Tuesday Tunesation!

I have seen many musicians with cellos but in Europe and this person is excellent. I miss the true rock music because, nowadays, the men sound like they have lost their nuts somewhere and all the girls just want to look sexy and slutty singing rather stupidly.

Birgit, Thank you for joining me on the dance floor. Today’s mewsicians aren’t the same. The talent available pales in comparison to what I listen to growing up or even with the artists I listened to as a young adult (80s). The Doobie Brothers may be one of my favorite retro groups. Not all but many guys sing like girls (I hate falsetto) and most girls growl wearing black leather. There is nothing unique about most artists now versus then. This young cellist is good but what’s really cool is he’s not your regular street performer. It blew me away to find his YouTube vid. I wish him all the success in the world with his mewsic career! Have a good day, my friend and I’ll be seeing you soon. 🙂

Patrick, it sounds like you’re trying to steal my cello player. lol He is very good. I have not heard him play in person but he definitely is talented. Hopefully, he’ll come by to read the comments left today and yours is sure to warm his heart. Thanks, my friend. You totally rock! I’ll be over to see you soon. 😀

Alex, you’re right bands from the 70s like the Doobie Brothers blow today’s so-called talent out of the water! Thanks for visiting and have a good week!

    Hi, Cathy!

How’s your ear doing? I’ll bet you could hear the cheering and screaming last night coming from the happy football fans in Boston. 🙂

I enjoyed this selection of street musicians and appreciate how you set up the post with that classic by the Doobies. A good street musician or band can add a lot to the cultural appeal of a city’s shopping and restaurant district. The three acts you featured would draw me in for a closer look and listen if I happened to be visiting their towns. The first band reminds me of the one that used to play on The Andy Griffith Show. The third, the Dixieland jazz combo, reminds me of the sounds heard at Mardi Gras. The second act, the cellist, is indeed unique. I never saw that style of inner city street musician before. Of course, flash mobs are a modern variation on the theme “taking it to the street.” I’d like to share with you a flash mob performance that took place a few years ago in my hometown – York, PA:

Have a happy week, dear friend Cathy!

Tom, My ears are making a slow improvement and I am hearing a bit better. I rooted for the Falcons but I wasn’t overly disappointed that New England won. I like Brady and the Pats. They really clawed their way to victory in the second half. It was like the Falcons defense stopped playing. They were awesome in the first half keeping the pressure on Brady and taking a commanding lead of 28 to 3. What a shame the enthusiasm didn’t hold. That’s so cool, a flashmob in your hometown. I’d love to see something like this. Have you actually seen one live? Thanks for sharing. Have a good week and I’ll be by to see you soon! 🙂

Loving these street vendors girlfriend… wait is that what you call them? Anyway, great music. I use to work downtown and I use to see them everyday. I kind of miss them after seeing yours. Great show. Love it. Thanks for sharing. You soooooooooo rock!

Marie, Yeah street vendors/performers are the same. I don’t believe I’ve actually seen any street mewsicians live before but it would be a lot of fun, though. I’m glad you enjoyed my mewsic vids. Have a good day, my friend and thank you for allowing me continue as co-host! 😉
