A few months back I made the decision to incorporate my artwork into my mid-week not-so-Wordless Wednesday time slot. Now that the A to Z Challenge is over, I can bring to you last month’s pencil drawings to life with color.
For the past two years, I’ve contributed art sketches and kept with the theme, except I focused on illustrating characters from The Little Mermaid animated movies and TV series with you. My goal was to provide not only pencil sketches but adding color to my pictures. Unfortunately, I ran short on time and as promised I am ready to share my designs in living color!
Today, I’m sharing Prince Eric. You can take a peek at the original pencil drawing ☞ here. From the primary illustration, I used my Prismacolor pencils (highly recommend) to fill in the design and using the Procreate drawing app with my Apple pencil on my iPad I recreated a similar scene.
First, my Prismacolor fill illustration. I always loved coloring but to get shading properly requires more practice and that’s what I plan to do in the coming days. 😉
Being the creative genius or nut whichever you label you wish to pin on me, I dabbled with my Pixelmator photo editor to apply some special effects.
Do you like these special features? They are different but I prefer my original. Next up, is my Procreate drawing of the same illustration.
What I like about this digital sketch is how it almost looks like a painting. Procreate offers a variety of tool technics to achieve different artistic results.
Do you have a preference for the colorized original illustration or the digital drawing of Eric?

For now, I’m not going to include a linky. It’s discouraging when I host this and bloggers fail to leave a comment. That being said, if you want me or anyone else to hop over please leave your footprints (direct URL) to your site in comments.
Internet traffic is beginning to slow, Blogosphere all but empties out with the return of warm weather and honestly, I don’t blame anyone for seeking refuge outdoors with nature. I have more than enough stuff on my plate to keep me busy and will try to keep to my three days a week posting but there will come a point when I will need to take a longer short break from things. Please join me for nothing but giggles with my Friday Fun Stuff edition!
