Welcome to Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me! This week’s theme is songs about the end of summer. Living in the south, but thankfully not the deep south, we still have more summer days to go. With the heat and humidity feeling pretty intolerable for a month or more, I for one, am looking forward to the end of summer that is until winter’s frigid chill bites my fingers and toes. Join me now for an all new-to-me song collection and I hope you enjoy the tunes!
I pulled my Summer’s ending song picks from this thread discussion to build today’s playlist which includes these titles:
- SUMMER’S END ~ John Prine
- THE END OF THE SUMMER ~Frank Black
- SUMMER’S END ~ Foo Fighters
- LONG HOT SUMMER ~ Girls Aloud
- END OF THE SUMMER ~ Dar Williams

Interesting set, especially as I had only heard two of the songs (John Prine and Foo Fighters) before. SThe last song was my favorite of the three I hadn’t heard before. Summer is definitely on its way out where I live and, in a way, I miss it already. Not the heat. But the blue skies and the multitude of flowers, I miss already.
Alana,
The beauty of summer I miss, too. For us the gray generally doesn’t really move into until winter. We’ll get hit or miss drab days but generally our falls are nice which I’m looking forward to. 🙂
We can’t hardly believe that Summer is almost over. We’re having the colds already, but we know there’ll be a more heat to come in the After-Summer😸We loved your play list, CK, especially the last song. Looks like the kiddos have a real good time in the pool. Enjoy the good weather as long as it’s still there…okay, maybe not so heat, but anyway.. 😉 Pawkisses for a wonderful day and week ahead🐾😽💞
I love your song choices, Cathy! Seems the only good memories about this summer is the mewsic we listened too. I’m looking forward to cooler weather.
Awww, summer has its own beauty. Thank you for the sound track for a pretty summer’s day.
Cool tunes!
It’s nice to have colder weather now. As long as it’s not too cold 🙂
Athena & Marie,
I agree cooler weather is nice but not cold. Thankfully, in our neck of the woods things are generally pretty mild. It does get cold but not super cold like other parts of the world. I grumble and complain about it but honestly I know how good we have it here. Those cold snaps don’t long for us, either. 😉
Summer of 2020 I hardly knew ye. It was definitely hotter than earlier in the year, but otherwise summer was pretty much like the beginning of the year. It’s been a really odd year.

Lee,
Odd year is one way to put it. We’re all ready to see it go and the old year can take this Covid junk right along with it!! Thanks for visiting, my friend!
Nice choices. I hope you have a great week.
Thanks, Ellen! You, too!!
We had a gorgeous day yesterday with a high of 22C and a slight wind. This is what I love. We will still have warm days for sure but now the heat is beginning to crack than goodness. Now I wish we would get some rain.I like the songs especially the last one. she is quite talented. The girl pop band-they are fun to listen to and I bet, if this actually existed, if these gals ran a mechanic shop, the men would be there in droves! I can’t help but think, yes, be proud of your body but as for women’s lib…this sets us back all the time. I know, I sound like a prude.
Birgit,
Rain hasn’t been a worry for us. I think we’ve gotten more than usual this year. I’m sure y’all will get plenty of rain in the winter which quickly becomes snow which means a whole of shoveling to clear the drive. That sounds horrible! lol The girl pop band was having a lot of fun and you’re right if they had a shop the guys would be lined up for miles…especially if the ladies looked this smokin’ hot! 😀 Thanks for boogieing with me, my dear!
You picked some real good ones here!
John,
I’m glad you enjoyed my picks!
Great and beautiful songs there.
Thanks, Patrick!
…Cathy your bookends are my favorites this week. John Prine always is on my playlist and this is one of his saddest meaningful. End of the Summer by Dar Williams is new for me, I need to investigate her music. Thanks for the introduction and visit.
Tom,
I didn’t know who John Prine was until recent months. I think it was his death to spark my curiosity about his mewsic. Thanks for joining me, my friend!
Good tunes…Long Hot Summer sure sums it up!!!
Brian,
Yep, it’s been a LONG HOT SUMMER! Well, a hot summer anyhow. The long part I’m not too sure about because the days have gone by pretty fast. At least I’ve been indoors much of the time so the heat hasn’t been much of an issue for me…much. Thanks for boogieing with me!
Awww on those cutie pies having fun in the pool. Yes summer is coming to and end. I will say that September and October are our Indian summers though. They are most wonderful.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥
Sandee,
Yep, we get a good burst of summer-like weather in September & October, too. The days are often quite warm but as soon as the sun dips over the horizon it cools off fast. I’m looking forward to the change! Thanks for stopping in this morning, my dear!
We are happy with summer ending, the heat and humidity makes it our least favorite season. Cooler weather can come by anytime. Have a great week.
If I were a pup, then I’d be howling for the end of summer to get here. I’m a Cathy so I’m meowing for the end of the hot & humid weather!
