Skywatch Friday

Skywatch Friday: Morning sunrise in Knoxville, TN

I took this morning sunrise from my front porch one Tuesday morning with my iPhone5. If you click on the image to enlarge, you should see the Smoky Mountains in the background. The one thing I like about living in Knoxville is when visibility is good one can spot the Appalachian mountain range from various spots throughout the city.

On my way back up the drive, I liked how the brush framed the sun above my neighbor’s house. Here, you can see the sun peaking through the clouds.  I used the Tilt-Shift feature in Fotor to place the focus on the sunrise. There is nothing like a gorgeous sunrise to greet me on trash day. It makes the task of lugging everything curbside more enjoyable, and it makes my day brighter!

Beautiful sky. And I can relate to the trash day comments. We take our trash to the curb every day (we live in a sr. RV resort in the winter). Every morning I stretch as I take it out, look up at the sky and count my blessings. And I’ve thought about how kind of silly it is to be so happy while I’m emptying the garbage ;>)!

just beautiful. I love how you can just barely see the house in the second shot, and all the focus is on the amazing sunrise.
I cannot wait for warmer weather to try and capture some sunrise shots.

When I shot the first picture, I decided that I would have to crop out the power lines that distract the mountains. That sort of thing drives me nuts. But, it turned out okay for the most part. Using the tilt shift effect helped a lot in the second photo. It took the emphasis off everything else other than the sunrise, which was what I was going for completely.
