Monday's Music Moves Me

Sheryl Crow 2005 Wildflower album

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Howdy-hi, folks!   On October 12, 1492, Columbus discovered the Americas.  It’s only fitting there is a special day honoring the great explorer.  Tomorrow is Columbus Day!

Welcome to Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me on Sundays!  Our host’s theme for the week is songs about birds, songs by bands or artists with bird names, songs with birds in them.   I decided to use the YT playlist of CD I own by one of my favorite female artists’, Sheryl Crow 2005 Wildflower album.

Wildflower tracks: 1. I Know Why  2. Perfect Life  3. Good Is Good  4. Chances Are  5. Wildflower  6. Lifetimes  7. Letter To God  8. Live It Up  9. I Don’t Wanna Know  10. Always On Your Side  11. Where Has All The Love Gone

How about a few giggles to start your week in honor of Columbus Day?

❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵

This month’s honorary co-host is John from The Sound of One Hand Typing

❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵

This is a mewsic linky party. Every other week we have a suggested mewsic theme (see side menu) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our mewsic enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

As fast as the months are slipping away, I wanted to invite you to sign up for honorary co-host/hostess slot for 2022.  At the moment, the new year is pretty wide open with the exception of January to choose your favorite month, so if you’re interested then I’m happy to reserve  a spot for you on a first come, first serve basis.  Act fast, shoot me an email to lock in your month of choice!

That’s a wrap for now.   In case you missed the update last week, DH and I are taking some vacation days at the end of the month through mid-November, so unless I find time to squeeze in my usual daily posts, then my next scheduled entry is TAD with Rain.  Stay tune for my latest art sketch contribution. 😉  Have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

I like Sheryl Crow’s music but I don’t think I know any of these songs! I used to listen to her music all the time and just seemed to have forgotten about her.

      Joanne,

Thanks for dropping by to boogie with me. Might I suggestion so others can find their way back? It took me a bit but I found my way to your site, Slices of Life.

The little pumpkin to start this post is just priceless and the comics are wonderful. I am now officially looking to see if the Sheryl Crow album is available in vinyl. Love everything about this collection.

      Driller,

I did a quick search for Sheryl’s album on vinyl but didn’t come up with anything. There’s a good chance it’s not available in that format. I own the CD. Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, my friend.

I’m glad that DH has a wonderful sense of direction and rarely gets lost. Even if we do then it’s no big deal as it’s always fun to see new places. That is if we’re in no hurry which is usually when those incidents have happened. It wouldn’t be so fun if we were on a trip, though. Thankfully with GPS and Smartphone technology then you don’t need to ask anyone anymore about where you want to go for the most part. :

Nice take on the theme! I thought about doing something similar, but went a different route. Post goes live in just under 2 hours 🙂

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Paw-some 4M Monday on Sunday, dear friend! I started searching for this post at 6 am sharp and kept looking for several hours, then needed to turn my attention to other matters. I finally noticed it in my reading list around dinner time, but by then Mrs. Shady had me roped into activities for the evening. I didn’t want you to think I forgot you, so here I am.

That little girl will be the belle of the Halloween ball dressed in that fall finery!

You are smart for “killing two birds with one stone” and picking a Sheryl Crow album for this week’s bird theme. I can see, or rather hear, why Sheryl is one of your favorite female artists. This is my first time hearing Wallflower, her Grammy nominated 2005 album. Her voice is clear, refined and intimate. It gets right inside your head. I’m sure you know what I mean by that. Her vocal instrument is also able to deftly glide up and down the scale. She is the kind of female vocalist we both like a lot. The first song, “I Know Why,” is a sensational recording. “Good Is Good” is better than good – it’s tunetastic! “Chances Are” is pure magic. I can imagine listening to this album on a lazy, rainy Sunday afternoon, know what I mean? I can almost hear the rain falling in the plucking of the guitar. It’s beautiful. “Wallflower” reminds me of something George Harrison might have written and The Beatles might have recorded at their mid 60s peak. Sheryl wrote or co-wrote every one of these gems and I am extremely impressed. I could listen to this album over and over again and never tire of it. The last song, “Where Has All The Love Gone,” is another standout that has baroque, Beatlesque “Eleanor Rigby” touches and also sounds like ELO. I am completely won over by Sheryl Crow and this Wallflower album of hers. I can easily understand why it reached #2 on the pop album chart. Heavens to Betsy – Sheryl Crow will turn age 60 a few months from now!

I enjoyed your Columbus Day sillies. In all honesty, I have a good sense of direction. Mrs. Shady is the one who is always getting turned around and lost.

Thank you for the introduction to the mewsic of gifted songstress Sheryl Crow. I am 100% sold on her and that album. Have a wonderful week, dear friend Cathy!

      Tom,

You nailed it precisely, Sheryl’s Wallflower album “gets right inside your head”. DH has a good sense of direction. I’ve learned to be a better navigator from my early days but if I don’t have a map or familiar with my general surroundings then I get turned around easily, too. So, I can relate to Mrs. Shady. I’m glad you enjoyed my Monday music, my friend. Thanks for stopping by and please never worry about me thinking you’ve forgotten about me. I wouldn’t. Trust me! I’m sorry for the scheduling goof. Have a boogietastic week!

As much as I’ve heard of Sheryl Crow, I’ve not heard that much of her music. This entire album was new to me. Easy listening with a touch (I thought) of country, and even a touch of melancholy. My favorite was “Live It Up”.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Alana,

When I first heard Sheryl Crow I put her in mentally in the pop genre but she intertwines rock, blues, jazz, and country in her music making her style a bit unique. I’ve always liked her style. This album has a melancholy vibe. Every time I hear it I’m reminded of a good friend who dropped out of my life after she divorced her husband for no other reason other than she was burning all the bridges behind her associated with that chapter of her life. I don’t understand how anyone can do that, especially when all I wanted to do was be a good friend to her but that’s the way some people roll I suppose. Despite all of that I wish for her nothing but good blessings and maybe someday, she’ll want to reconnect our friendship. Thanks for dropping by to dance with me, darlin’!
