Monday's Music Moves Me

Serenading you with Glenn Miller music

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Thank you for adding the Sunday Edition of Monday’s Music Moves Me to your day! This month’s spotlight feature is the brainchild of 4M, Marie from Xmas Dolly.

March special guest hostess!

The theme this week is Glenn Miller music.  I think Marie went with big band sound in honor of her mother.  There’s something magical about the big band sound from that era.  Glenn Miller’s life seemed exciting and his death mysterious but I will dig into his life another time.  I decided to go with original songs of Miller’s.  There’s no particular reason why I picked them other than the song title first caught my eye and if the song tickled my ear then I went with it.  I hope you enjoy the mini 5-song playlist.

Song Tracks: 1. A Handful of Stars 2. It’s A Blue World 3. You Stepped Out Of A Dream 4. Serenade In Blue 5. At Last

This is a music linky party.  Your co-hostess are MarieStacyAlana, and Me.   Every other week we have a suggested music theme (see weekly prompts here) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our music enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

THE PARTY BEGINS HERE!

Notice as of 6am March 8th, LinkyTools wouldn’t display and I am unable to reach the site so something is going on there. If you want to join the party and still can’t see it, then please add your 4M link in comments.

DH has yet another dental appointment tomorrow.  A couple of weeks ago, he particularly broke an upper rear molar.  I’m hoping for the best but am afraid that the worse is in store.  Poor fella has had some real problems mostly crowns breaking or failing but now a ‘real’ tooth hangs in the balance. Is it salvageable or will it require a dental implant? Cross your fingers and say a little prayer for him.

This is CAAC signing off, please join me tomorrow for my A to Z Theme Reveal.  Have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

How appropriate these words are today. A person’s opinion is just that an opinion. We all need to respectfully understand and not demean another for the way they see things. We need to know when to speak and when to shut up. Angry words, acts, or censorship aren’t the solutions.

We’re not really fans of Glenn Miller, CK, but the songs sound so familiar in my ears, that it brought back memories that we couldn’t have had, because we may be old, but not so old…MOL… Your quote is spot on! Extra Pawkisses for a Happy Day and hope your DH is feeling better🙏🐾😽💞

Oh man…that is rough on your hubby…and you! Dentists are so expensive too but so needed. We spent over $3,000 for my hubby to have partial “dentures”. I can’t remember the name but has to have 2 molars so he can chew properly. He has to get used to having them in his mouth. A lot of tweaking. I love the Big Band sound more and more and , I know, my daddy and I would talk about this music as he was in his 20’s and early 30’s and saw a few of these big guys at Crystal Beach, On. You know, I love Jimmy Stewart but I have yet to see his biopic on Miller. I do wonder if they will ever find Miller’s plane. Miller and Leslie Howard both died when their plane were shot down.

My mom was a fan of Glenn Miller and I remember her playing his albums. I hope all goes well with DH’s tooth. Have a great week ahead and looking forward to your A to Z reveal, Cathy! 💚

Like you, I picked a couple of songs that the title caught my eye. Glenn Miller was my mother’s favorite big band and I was introduced to them early in life. I really liked American Patrol. I am thrilled that we did not pick any of the same songs because we need to hear the breadth of talent in this great band. Have a blessed week.

Aw. look at these cutie pies So precious.

I love Glenn Miller. Some fabulous music.

I tried to get Marie to post her music early, but she didn’t so I’m signing off for the day. If she posts I’ll edit int he morning. I would have done a post for her if she has asked, but since it’s her month I didn’t want to overstep.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hog.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

I am not familiar with his music. I know who Mitch Miller is though. 🙂 I will say a prayer for DH. Tomorrow we will be revealing our theme too- I have it down to 2 choices so I need to decide soon. XO

I enjoyed this theme. I knew about the mystery surrounding Glenn Miller’s last flight but I didn’t know until researching my post that Miller’s years with his own orchestra were so short. And yet so many #1 songs. Just think….my favorite of these, none of which I knew, was the last. I wasn’t familiar with the Glenn Miller quote, either. It’s just as true now as it was then. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Pawww-some 4M Monday on Sunday, dear friend! I hope you and DH are having a nice weekend.

Awww… I just wanna have a smooch party with that cute little kitten and his puppy pal! Pictures like this prove that “natural enemies” are not born. That kind of “stinkin’ thinkin” is taught, and the world would be a better place if the people doing that kind of destructive teaching to their young would just stop.

I’m happy to see that Marie is back in action and picking this week’s theme. It is refreshing to go all the way back in time to the Swing Years and listen to the big band sounds of Glenn Miller and his Orchestra. I’m sure you remember the combination of Glenn Miller and vocalist Ray Eberle as, I believe, the winners of one of your recent BOTBs. Ray was quite a crooner, wasn’t he? I see that “A Handful Of Stars” is from the 1940 mewsical comedy film Hullabaloo starring Frank Morgan, Virginia Grey, Dan Dailey and Billie Burke. Billie is best remembered as Glinda the Good Witch of the North in The Wizard of Oz, released the previous year. It’s interesting to me that on “Handful Of Stars” Ray’s vocals begin only 13 seconds into the song. Most numbers from that era let the band play for a minute or more before the vocal begins. The second and third songs, “Blue World” and “You Stepped Out Of A Dream” are typical examples of this style. On the 4th song, “Serenade In Blue,” the band plays close to a minute-and-a-half before the singing starts. That song is from the 1942 mewsical film Orchestra Wives starring Ann Rutherford and George Montgomery and featuring Glenn Miller. On the 5th song, “At Last,” the vocals by John Payne & Pat Friday don’t begin until the orchestra has played more than two minutes! “At Last” is from the soundtrack of the 1941 mewsical Sun Valley Serenade starring Sonja Henie, John Payne, Glenn Miller, Milton Berle, and Lynn Bari. As you might recall, the song was covered in 1960 by R&B great Etta James. Released as a single, Etta’s version became one of her biggest hits in the spring of 1961.

I am only opposed to people freely expressing their opinions when those so-called opinions are actually lies disguised as truth, and powerful, influential people spread those lies on their hand-picked, sympathetic news outlets and social media platforms thereby poisoning, dividing and weakening our society and tearing down our great country. A prime example is the big lie about who won the 2020 election. Another is denying the ominous and immediate threat of climate change and global warming. Truth is absolute. It is not an opinion. It cannot be changed simply because some people don’t like it.

Yessum, I will say a prayer for DH. I notice that he does require dental procedures quite often. I look forward to your A to Z theme reveal. I assume this means that you have decided to participate in the Challenge after all. I knew you wouldn’t be able to resist. (LOL) You know that I will be here for you throughout the month, even if I am late some days because of my own medical appointments. Thanks for the morning entertainment, dear friend Cathy. Have a great day and I’ll see you tamale!
