Saturday Song-suasion 47: Ronnie Milsap

Ronnie-Milsap

Good-morning, my lovelies! I hope you’re not getting wet this Saturday. We are under the threat of thunderstorms all day. One of country music’s most popular and influential artists performed a rainy day song hit in 1980 and it is always the first to pop in my mind. Let’s give a listen to Ronnie Milsap’s Smoky Mountain Rain.

In the mid-70s, Milsap released this next song and I remember thinking, “How can anyone sing about thinking about sex during the day and then…” Well, my little naïve brain had no clue that this is really stays in a man’s thoughts 24/7.

Take the Long Way Home Around the World came out in 1979 and hit the charts at #1 in both the US & Canada.

July 1977, It Was Almost Like a Song topped the Billboard Magazine Hot Country Songs chart…
What A Difference You Made in My Life two artists from in 1977 recorded this song. First by a young Amy Grant from her self entitled début album, but it was Milsap in November of the same year who was best known for making this his second #1 hit.

Thank you for taking time out of your weekend to hop over to listen to my music selections. I hope you enjoyed your visit. In fact, I hope you enjoyed it so much that you cannot wait to tell your friends. Go ahead, hit the share (Facebook, Twitter, Google+) button! You know you wanna. ;)
