Battle of the Bands

RESULTS: The Living Daylights BoTB showdown

Tickle Me Tuesday giggle

Thanks for checking back to see how things went in my recent BOTB.  The Living Daylights used to be one of my least favorite James Bond films but that’s no longer the case. The first 007 flick starring Daniel Craig takes the worse Bond thriller movie spot.  However, we’ll save all of that for another time.  Today, you want to know which of my featured artists, The Narrow or Matt Blackwell won.

Taking the winner with a 9 to 4 victory is The Narrow!

I don’t listen to Alternative Rock a lot.  YouTube indicates The Narrow’s The Living Daylights cover was uploaded in 2018 and the video I used says it’s supposedly on their Travellers Special Edition album.  However, I couldn’t find it, so I sampled the original album. The only track that seemed to half-way resonated well with me is this one, Red.

Yesterday, I announced that I will take part in the April A to Z Challenge again for my 9th year.  Originally, I had planned to do a mid-month battle but I believe I need to skip that one this time to focus on next month’s blogfest.  I want to give special thanks to you for doing your civic duty by making your voices heard in this Battle of the Bands. 👏 It certainly makes putting these posts together tons more fun.

To refresh your memory on how you voted.  Tom, Birgit, Stephen, Sandee, Brian, Myke, Eugenia, Debbie, and Mike picked the winner, The Narrow, and John, Lee, Mimi, and Diedre preferred Matt Blackwell in this round.

I apologize for being all over the place lately with my posting schedule but I’ll be back stay tuned for my newest Thursday Art Date edition.  This is CAAC signing off, have a bandtastic day!

Thanks for taking the time to post the results, Cathy. I wish you much success with this year’s A to Z Challenge. Although I’m not participating, I’ll try and pop by to see what you’re up to. Have fun!

      Debbie,

You’re always welcome to pop over anytime. I’m feeling better about my approach to this year’s challenge. I will keep my head low, roll with the punches, and have fun. The later is why we’re doing this any how, right? Thanks for stopping by, my dear!

    CAThy!

Mostly blowouts in this round of BOTB. I actually thought that I too had a blowout, but when I tallied up the votes in order to write my Results blog bit, I was really surprised to find there was just a two-vote differential between the winner and loser!

Satchmo staged a strong comeback right at the very end, garnering the final 3 votes, which is what saved him from what looked like a massive blowout.

I hope you’ll be back with a BOTB installment again on April 1st (?)

Be well and blessed, my dear friend!

      Stephen,

I’m undecided what to do about April 1st BOTB. I mentioned that I planned to hold off until after the A to Z Challenge but I do have the 1st already done. I will think about what’s the best thing to do. I really hate skipping these battles, so I may wind up publishing it. Thanks for visiting!

      Mimi,

It doesn’t matter who you vote for as long as you’re having a good time doing it and I’m happy you’re learning why you like particular songs. Doing these sorts of challenges has been a nice education for me, too.

I hate the dentist so hope all went well with your hubby. I liked the Daniel Craig flicks…he is the angry Bond. Pierce is the suave Bond. Timothy is the sad Bond. Roger is the devil may care Bond and George is the arrogant Bond(as he was/is in real life). Sean is THE Bond who could do all, in my humble opinion. I have to say, for me, Octopussy, is the worst. It’s still fun to watch but not that great.
Glad my pick one and it was a good battle. I will look forward to your A To Z challenge.

      Birgit,

I don’t the predominately angry trait of the Craig “James Bond”. I liked how you labeled the different 007s over the year and I have to agree with you Sean Connery could do it all. Although, I think he and Moore were a close all the best all time Bond stars, I think Sean is my overall favorite by a smidge.

Glad you’ll be doing the A to Z again this year. I’m sure you’ll fall into the swing of things and finish as you always have. I spent the weekend taking photos for my A to Z. Now I just have to compile the posts. Hopefully will finish in the next couple of weeks.

Your BOTB outcome was kind of similar to mine. I even voted for the less popular entry in both cases. That’s the way it often is for me.

      Lee,

Thanks for taking time to check out how things went. I’m trying to not get too overwhelmed tending to my normal blogging necessities while getting ready for the A to Z Challenge. I plan to not stress, have fun, and just do my best. 🙂

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Tickle Me Tuesday, dear friend! I hope DH got through his dental procedure AOK. I’ve been thinking about him and sending prayers.

I am happy to learn that the band I picked, The Narrow, won your latest BOTB competition. You got me “Curious as a Cathy” when you indicated that alternative rock isn’t your bag and the only track from the album that halfway resonated is “Red.” I went over to YouTube just now and listened to the title track “Travellers” and the song “Lonely-lonely.” While I was there, I refreshed my memory by listening to “The Living Daylights.” I definitely like their style. When the band pulls the trigger and the heavy sound kicks-in, they deliver what my rock loving ears crave.

Thanks for reporting the final tally in your band battle, dear friend Cathy. Have a super Tuesday and I’ll see you Thursday when you present Art Date with Rain!

      Tom,

I think The Narrow over all has a bit of a heavier vibe from my normal listening enjoyment. “Lonely-Lonely” is one of their better songs and when the song goes soft I like it but when the song digs into its metal vibe it’s not nearly as welcomed by ears. “Traveller” isn’t that bad, either. But, again as you put it the heavy sound is what my ear turns away from. It’s not awful and perhaps if my mood were different I’d be more receptive perhaps. As you know I more of gentle rocker when it comes to listening to music for pleasure. Thanks for dropping by, my friend!
