Monday's Music Moves Me

Random Music Mix

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Howdy-hi, folks! October is now more than half way through.  How’s the autumn weather shaping in your neck of the woods? Has the fall foliage all but fallen off or is just beginning to peak where you live?  We didn’t venture out this weekend.  The colors are more noticeable in our neighborhood but I imagine after the past two night of chilly overnight lows the colors in the mountains are probably spectacular.

The past couple of weeks I’ve done well to get back into the groove of using my elliptical which gives me a great feeling.  This is a positive foot forward.  I really missed being active.  Although I may not get a chance to use my elliptical while on staycation, I hope we get plenty opportunity to take walks while on our day trips.  That sounds really nice.

With my grocery store deliver last week, I got a pumpkin and some mums to set beside our front steps.   I don’t do a lot of decorating for fall so this is always lovely treat and such a warm welcoming site for us when we come home or for others stopping by.  I love fall!

Welcome to Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me on Sundays!  This week is your choice song picks which gives me another excellent opportunity to throw together some random song titles from my stash of YouTube links begging to be shared.  Hit play to enjoy my random music mix while visiting others, working on posts, cleaning house, or doing whatever moves you at this moment!

This month’s honorary co-host is John from The Sound of One Hand Typing

❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵

This is a mewsic linky party. Every other week we have a suggested mewsic theme (see side menu) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our mewsic enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

The 4M crew is looking for volunteers to fill in as honorary co-host in 2022.  The new year is pretty open with the exception of January and December.  If you’re interested then please shoot me an email at cathy@curiousasacathy.com requesting me to hold your preferred choice.  This will be on a first come, first serve bases.  Don’t miss out!

I missed an email from Marie on Sunday.  She says she’ll be late posting but assured me a big surprise is coming. Now, I’m all excited.  How about you?

I’m gearing up for our staycation but I have scheduled posts waiting in the wing.  Up next is Wild Wednesdays the linky party where just about anything goes, so feel free to join the fun!  That’s a wrap for now.  Have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

I don’t work outside the home but not to worry, DH is fine. This just totally cracked me up and is relatable to most of us, I know I could when I worked. 🤣

This will certainly be the most eclectic playlist I will hear today. Herbie Hancock and Big & Rich are my favorites here today. The Big & Rich song is really, really good. The subject matter may be difficult but the message is inspiring.

That cute librarian look totally worked and I appreciated this week’s uplifting beat – much needed right now!
Take care dear friend and have an awesome week! 🙂

Color? What color? We are way behind in the Southern Tier of New York; I’ve got the sinking feeling this year will be a bust. We woke up to the high 40’s this morning. At least they took the frost for tomorrow night out of the forecast as it’s supposed to be cloudy/drizzly. Enjoyed a lot of your playlist, especially Watermelon Man (I don’t recall this, which I think is the original version) but husband remembered one by Mongo Santamaria, same as one of your commenters. The other song that really got to me was Big and Rich’s. It brought me to tears. The best friend of one of my husband’s cousins was murdered in a domestic violence situation out West several years back.

Happy Fall, Cathy! Our temps are in the 40s this morning but we’re not seeing a lot of color change yet. Just a few leaves here and there! 🍂 🍁

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Awww-some 4M Monday on Sunday, dear friend! I hope you and DH are having a nice weekend.

Right off the bat, I’d like to smooch that pawww-some little librarian pup. What a cute pose!

How’s the autumn weather shaping up in my neck of the woods? “Feelin’ hot hot hot!” Fall foliage? We have a few dead palm fronds that have turned brown. Does that count? (LOL) It’s good to know you are back in the swing of things with your elliptical training. Your body will thank you for keeping fit. Walks in the fresh mountain air will surely be beneficial while you are away from home. You could also try jogging up that steep walkway and stairs leading to the tip top of Clingmans Dome. (LOL) Carry 50 pound dumbbells to add to the challenge. (LOL) I’ve been reminding Mrs. Shady to buy a pumpkin and bake us a pie. I too love the sight of bright orange pumpkins, especially bunches of them together in patches.

I enjoyed your 4M song set. Your blog is starting to resemble mine, given the type of mewsic you’ve been posting lately. “Give Me Tonight,” the freestyle dance-pop song by Shannon, was a biggie in my region. It hit #1 on the Dance chart in March, 1984, the same month I left PA and moved to FLA. I was hitting the clubs hard during that period, and I can honestly say that I danced to that great sound in two different states. The industrial rock sound of Garbage is right up my alley. “I Think I’m Paranoid” went top 10 in the UK in 1998 and was a hit stateside on the Alt. Modern Rock chart. It’s fascinating to me that the band’s intention is to make pop-like songs in a variety of genres – “take pop music and make it as horrible sounding as we can.” Wiki sez: << These genres include trip hop, grunge, 1980s rock music, techno, power pop and shoegazing. >> I was already familiar with a few other Garbage hits – “Milk,” #1 Crush” and “Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go!). I thoroughly enjoyed the song and video “I Think I’m Paranoid.” I remember a song entitled “Honey Bee” that was an early disco hit for Gloria Gaynor. I loved this different “Honey Bee” song and the refreshingly different new to me mewsical ensemble Afro Celt Sound System. Strangely, I don’t think I ever heard Herbie Hancock’s version of “Watermelon Man,” even thought he is the composer, nor have I heard the funky version you linked to. The version I remember from my record collecting years is the original recording and single by Cuban percussionist Mongo Santamaría, a surprise hit on the U.S, pop chart in 1963. I absolutely love the song and video “Holy Water” by the Nashville duo Big & Rich, a top 15 hit on the Country chart in late 2004. It’s an important opus, written by the two artists in honor of their sisters who were both victims of domestic abuse. Roxette, Ozzy, Lita – this is the most random and eclectic mix you have ever presented, dear friend, and I had a great time watching ad listening. It does my heart good to know that you and I both appreciate mewsic in a variety of styles.

Have a wonderful week, dear friend Cathy. I’ll be back to see you on Wild Wednesday!
