Tickle Me Tuesdays

Random Humor and 70s Soul Music

The top meme cracked me up when I first saw it.  I’m thinking my bloggy pal, Mimi, shared it.  Anywho, it reminded me when I was a kid and how it made my daddy gagged if he found a hair (not hare) in his food.  I understand such a reaction if the hair belonged to a stranger but a family member or your own I couldn’t make sense of it and it would make me giggle to see daddy’s reaction.

The CEO and owner of the last place I worked made his own copies most of the time but I do I remember the difficulties we encountered with that copier and the copy service guy was frequently at the office working his magic.  I vaguely recall the office having a shredder.

While this doesn’t apply to me, since I am my own boss these days it’s still funny. Of course, I do remember feeling exactly like this occasionally.

I have mentioned it before on CAAC how I really hate seeing a guy wearing a bun.  I know this is a fad and if you ask me a very stupid one but never have I seen a guy yet that this look looks good on.  I hate to let the Cathy out of the bag but boys, seriously this makes you look like your grandma and I betcha if granny hasn’t told you how dumb it looks then let me be the one to break the news.  It looks dumb and so NOT manly.

What if animals were on social media?

What else would you expect?

I am using the previous week set of Tuesday 4 just in case I don’t have time to grab this week’s set of questions.

1. Besides Thanksgiving is there anything about November you like/dislike?   I count my blessings year round but there’s something special about this month and I feel even more thankful than any other time.  I love the whole idea of a day of thanksgiving and am so happy the first colonist saw the importance of to say special thanks to our Creator.

2. How is November weather where you live? Does it suit you?  The weather has been a mixture of beautiful fall temperatures as well as dreary, cloudy days.  I love a crisp blue autumn sky with huge fluffy clouds coupled with slightly cool temps but no wind.  That kind of weather suits me perfectly.

3. When do you plan for Thanksgiving? Eat home or out? Menu? It’s usually just the two of us.  I begin making our meal about the week before doing a little each day storing my dishes in the freezer for Thanksgiving.  I generally prepare the usual Thanksgiving menu dishes – turkey, ham, stuffing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry relish, both buttermilk and Angel biscuits (this is basically a yeast roll), pumpkin pie,  and pecan pie. The meats and stuffing I make enough for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  The oven is going to be on, so why not make the best use of it.   All of these tricks I learned from my late MIL who was always so on top of her game.

4. When do you begin decorating and planning for Christmas. It “officially” begins after Thanksgiving and the Macy’s Parade when Santa arrives at the end.  We usually have our Christmas tree up the weekend prior to Thanksgiving.  Normally, I like putting out my New England Dept. 56 Village but I didn’t last year and I probably won’t this year, either.

I’m back at my regular blog routine but with Thanksgiving next week, it’s safe to say if I manage to get caught up with responding to comments and making return visits then I’ll be doing fabulous.  Whatever I do, I’m going to try to keep stress out of the mix.   I’m closing things off with 2-hour 70s Soul playlist elude of my TopTenTuesday picks.  Now, it’s time to grab a cup of coffee and follow along as I head off to visit some of my favorites Comedy-Plus (Sandee) and Stacy Uncorked.   I’ll be back tomorrow with a new edition of Wild Wednesdays – the party where just about anything goes! 😉

I don’t like man buns either! Ugh! I like a traditional Thanksgiving but I don’t go all out for it. We do turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and a green vegetable. Hubby loves his nog with a nip and I sip on red wine. Love the 70s soul music and the shredder joke is hilarious. 😘

Love the funnies, and in our family the menu for big celebrations is always the same. If we try to “trim it down” somebody says, “But does that mean we aren’t having______” and we are back to the same full menu.

I love 70s soul music. Great songs.

Love all the funnies and the shredder one made me laugh out loud.

I’m with you on the man bun. I don’t think man and bun should be in the same sentence.

We’re having garlic chicken for Thanksgiving. We quit the traditional meals several years back. It works for us.

We don’t decorate anymore. We used to do three trees and had tons of other decorations. Just don’t care anymore. We love Thanksgiving and Christmas though.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Love and hugs, Cathy. ♥

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Tickle Me Tuesday, dear friend! Are you champing at the bit to return from your hiatus to a full-time blog schedule? 🙂

Ha! I wanna smooch that kitty who found a hare in his food. I think he should send it back to the kitchen and demand a fresh new bowlful. Whenever I see a hair in food, I react the same way your daddy did. It implies that the food might be dirty and contaminated in other ways and might not be safe to eat. I get that from being raised by a mother who I guess would today be called “germophobic.” Her attitude rubbed off on me. I could quickly see where that “Shredder” story was going, but it’s still funny. I’m sure there are still some bosses around like that old guy. As I might have told you before, my dad serviced copiers and other types of office machines. He worked as a salesman for an office supply wholesale & retail store and prided himself on providing “service after the sale.” Many times the phone would ring while we were having dinner and my dad would need to leave the table and rush to an office around town where employees were having trouble with the machine his company sold them. My mother used to get very upset that he was always on call and so often pulled away from family time. The woman in the “sick of being here” meme has to be you, Cathy. It looks just like you. Can you confirm that it was drawn using a mirror image? I get you on that “before and after” lion meme. It seems no matter how crazy a man chooses to dress or wear his hair, there are plenty of other men doing the same and plenty of women who like the look and think it’s cool and attractive. Someday a hair bun on men might be the accepted norm and anything that deviates from it will seem odd to most people. That’s the nature of change, and it is easy to understand why we tend to resist change. That’s a funny one of the shark taking a pic of his food for social media before eating the swimmer.

I can imagine how exhilarating it feels to climb Clingman Dome on one of those brisk, chilly fall days with a perfect blue sky and maximum visibility. Your Thanksgiving menu makes my mouth water, and I know DH appreciates the week of work and preparation that goes into the feast you serve him on that special day. I love pumpkin pie. Mrs. Shady is planning to make several of them this week. My birthday’s coming up this weekend, and Mrs. S’s daughter and family are coming to our house to help me celebrate. We are also using the occasion as our T-giving celebration since the family lives far away and we won’t get over to visit them on the 25th. Yessum, I’ve been seeing lots of Christmas shopping commercials on TV and the lights and decorations are already going up in stores, around town and throughout the neighborhood. “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas everywhere you go.”

I enjoyed listening to those smooth soul sounds of the 70s by Marvin, Billy Paul, The Emotions, Commodores, Minnie Ripperton, Chi-Lites, Al Green, O’Jays and others. Thanks for the mewsic and memories!

Have a wonderful Tuesday, dear friend Cathy. I’ll be back tamale to see what you’re up to on Wild Wednesday!

      Tom,

We’ve hiked the steep foot trail to Clingmans Dome observation a few occasions just before sunrise and regardless of the time of year, it’s very chilly trek. We did this a few times when the children were small which wasn’t an easy feat. I look back on that thinking, how on earth did we pull that off? The kids were super troupers. If they were too small to walk it, DH or I would carry the bundle either in our arms or snuggle sack. Once they got about 3 years old they could manage trails pretty well. We walked to accommodate their speed since their little legs couldn’t keep up with ours. 🙂 It feels really exhilarating with the crispness against your cheeks and you’re gasping for breathe when you reach the top. The wind can be furious at the top of the observation tower which makes the cool temps really cold. We did this once in late October, but I think it was for the sunset and man was that ever frigid! Again, very exhilarating!! I’d love to do it again. Thanks for stopping by for a visit, my friend!
