I’m happy you stopping by today!  Before I get going, I wanted to tell you Marie is under the weather.  Her hubby sent me an email last night saying she’s going to the hospital tomorrow.  Poor dear spent way too much time outdoors shoveling snow a few days ago because her hubby is still on the mend from his fall on ice.  They think she might have the flu.    Let’s pray it’s not worse and whatever she has let’s pray that she has a speedy recovery.   I’ll keep  y’all up-to-date as soon as I find out anything.

This week’s Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me theme is your choice song picks.  Last year, Athena & Marie shared “Since You Been Gone” by 70s British rock band, Rainbow.  This new-to-me discovery prompted me to sample more of their music when I came across the album to include the song that me looking in the first place.  Join me in listening Rainbow’s Down To Earth album!

Down To Earth song tracks:

  1. All Night Long
  2. Eyes of the World
  3. No Time to Lose
  4. Makin’ Love
  5. Since You’ve Been Gone
  6. Love’s No Friend
  7. Danger Zone
  8. Lost in Hollywood

This month’s honorary co-hostess is Robin from Songbird’s Crazy World

This is a mewsic linky party. Every other week we have a suggested mewsic theme (see side menu) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our mewsic enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

Before I skip off let me report on how things went in Round 3 BoTB Goldfinger showdown.

Chaka Khan Tom, Sandee, Birgit, CW, Myke T, and Mike S.  6 votes

Tom Petty Lee, John, Brian, Mary, Debbie, & Stephen.  6 votes

My battle ended in a tie.  At first I thought Chaka Khan was up by one but then I double checked the count.  One of my voters really didn’t say but indicated the artist by name so I took that as a vote.  However, if I had voted then I would’ve easily given mine to Tom Petty.  Although, I enjoyed Chaka Khan’s version, TP’s rendition is the best to my ear.

For the mid-month battle, I’m doing things like I did last time with separate posts on that Monday.  I’m experimenting to see if splitting BoTB from my regular posts makes a difference.   It seems like I get more participation when I keep things together despite my posts lengthiness and to think I was worried about that. *roll eyes*

I’m keeping things simple these days as I mentally regroup which may result in interruptions in my daily share routine.  Everything is okay.  I just need a little downtime to keep from fizzling out altogether.  Have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

Ronnie James Dio (speaking to one of the comments here) was somewhat local to where I live in New York State, and they would play Rainbow songs now and again. I enjoyed most of the songs on this album – a little surprised that Since You’ve Been Gone was the only song I knew. I’ll be thinking of Marie and her husband. Winter illnesses can be so serious.

Since You’ve Been Gone is a longtime fave for me, although I put Street of Dreams and Man On The Silver Mountain higher. Hey, Shady, I’m gonna check out the ones you mentioned right soon!

    ennui infestation;
    I cast for closure.

Never mind the haiku. That was diversionary. Truth be told, I love a good tie in a tussle.

Best Wishes for Maria. I hope she recovers fully and fast.

      Myke,

You’re such a wordsmith, so clever with pulling a Haiku. 🙂 Sometimes I’m inspired to pen a short verse after reading a post, so I’m happy to give you a few minutes of diversionary bliss. Thanks for the well wishes for Marie.

I hope Marie’s okay. I find it hard to believe there aren’t some enterprising young people in her area who wouldn’t mind making a few bucks by shoveling snow. Still, that’s back-breaking work, especially if your back isn’t in good shape.

Down To Earth is just good solid entertainment. And I’m glad your battle ended up in a tie. I liked both covers a lot.

      John,

Shoveling the driveway is back-breaking work. I’ve done it a few times when I was much younger. I surely wouldn’t want to do it now. I really need to do exercises to strengthen my core but I hate being down in the floor. Our carpet is so old and with allergies then it’s not a good combination. Thanks for your concerns for Marie.

  • 15andmeowing

Sorry Marie is under the weather. Also sorry I missed the showdown. I am sure I would have picked Tom Petty. I saw him in concert a few times over the years.

  • Debbie D.

That pup is in a spot of trouble. Hahaha! Your BOTB was interesting and I’m not surprised it was so close. Tom Petty definitely gave it a unique spin. Rainbow is new to me and I love their sound! Thanks for the introduction. Makin’ Love has an especially cool psychedelic vibe. I do hope Marie will recover well! She and her family sure have had a rough time, recently. Best wishes!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Debbie,

They don’t make painter’s pants for pups so this one got it all over himself. lol Thanks for checking out my BoTB outcome and for your healing wishes for Marie. Yep, they sure have had it rough lately.

    • Cathy Kennedy

Thanks for boogieing with me, Robin. We all hope Marie is feeling well again soon. She pushed herself too hard but I’m a tiny bit concerned that it’s more than just the cold/flu.

  • Sandee

Awww on the colorful pup. So cute.

Thanks for the update on Marie. I sent an email to Marie and Dave answered it this morning. He told me to ask you about Marie. I’m so happy you let us know. Yes keep us updated.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs. ♥

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Sandee,

Yeah, Dave sent an email letting me know Marie isn’t well but I haven’t heard anything more since Saturday or Sunday. I can’t remember which day now. sigh Keep those prayers going for our gal!

  • DrillerAA

Thanks for a completely new-to-me playlist. I think “All Night Long” might be my favorite here. Joining you and others in praying for Marie & DH. Have a blessed week.

    • Cathy Kennedy

I’m glad to know that you enjoyed the playlist. “All Night Long is my favorite, too. No news to report on Marie. I hope her hubby lets me know something soon. I’m concerned since I haven’t heard anything yet. Thanks for saying prayers for our friend!

  • Thomas Anderson

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Awww-some 4M Monday to you, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend.

Looks like that awww-some doggie got into the Easter egg dye. 🙂

Yessum, I will add friend Marie to my prayer list. I’m sorry to hear that she is going into the hospital.

Thanks for posting the set of songs by Rainbow. I am familiar with the British hard rock band because one of my metal favorites, Ronnie James Dio, was the band’s frontman in their earlier years. By the time this 4th album, Down To Earth, was released in 1979, Ronnie had left to join Black Sabbath. Down To Earth represents a shift to a more commercial rock sound for Rainbow. For example you can hear a disco influence on the first song, “All Night Long,” one of the two singles released from the album. Keep in mind that in late July 1979 when Rainbow’s Down To Earth was released, Kiss was approaching the top 10 on the pop chart with their disco hit “I Was Made For Lovin’ You.” Rainbow’s second song “Eyes of the World,” sounds similar to that Kiss recording, in my opinion. I enjoyed but do not remember Rainbow’s second single from the album and their first hit “Since You’ve Been Gone,” a record that reached the top 10 in the UK. My favorite track on Down To Earth is “Danger Zone” because it in no way reminds me of disco and instead rocks hard and pure.

Thanks for reporting the result of your BOTB. When I saw all those late votes pouring in for Petty, I was worried that Team Petty would sweep to victory. To me a tie is a satisfying outcome and a sign that your battle was well planned.

I wish you a safe and happy week ahead, dear friend Cathy!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Tom,

Good morning, my friend! You’re the first to join me on the dance floor. Thank you for kindly adding Marie to your prayer list. It’s not fun being sick no matter what one is stricken with because it’s all awful business. I’m happy to read that you enjoyed this morning’s song collection of these British rockers. Keeping tally of the votes I thought Chaka Khan was going to win. At one point I thought it would be by a huge margin, too. I’ve gotten used to expecting the unexpected with my battles anymore. It doesn’t bother me that my showdown ends with no winner because like you said it’s a more even matched battle and that’s something to feel good about. 🙂 Have a boogietastic day, my friend!
