2022 A-Z Challenge

Puppy Love

This is day 18 of the A to Z Challenge.  Unless something miraculous happens with my artwork turn around then things may start falling apart more so than they already are on in keeping one step ahead of the pack.  This is the bed I made for myself not being ready before the first of the month, so I guess I’ll just have to lie in it and just go with the flow.

In 2017, I used the original make-over earlier in the alphabet but it’s also perfect for the letter ‘P’ which is where we are in the alpha sequence today.

The eyes are a bit human-like but I got them good enough for now. I will need to continue the reworks until I’m fully satisfied.

If ever I get a puppy, I hope it would be a blonde Labrador. They are so adorable!

This month’s challenge has given me great practice learning how to blend and to learn how the different Procreate brushes create the desired texture needed for my recreation. There’s so much more yet to learn and this is just from my experimenting with the app, not following any courses. That would be ideal, though. Should I ever put feet to those wishes to pursue some online classes then I know I’d learn tons.

It’s time to head over to the A2Z headquarters and you’re welcome to come with me.  Thanks for including me in your day.  I’m going to leave you with a sappy song that many I’m sure won’t like but it’s a song I grew up listening to “Puppy Love” by Donny Osmond. This is CAAC signing off, I’ll be back tomorrow with the next letter in the alphabet!

Donny covered his song in recent years if you’re curious, here’s what a grown up ‘Puppy Love‘ sounds like. The newer version appeals more to my mature ears than the 70s hit classic.

Your puppy drawing is adorable, Cathy, and “Puppy Love” is one I remember well – simpler times, sigh. Keep on keepin’ on. 😘

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Paw-some Tickle Me Tuesday and P-Day, dear friend!

Awww… I just wanna smooch that little blonde lab! He’s a cutie. I admire how his coloring looks so natural. I like the fact that the minimalist background doesn’t distract or compete with the pup, and that you selected a muted color that blends well with his coat. His eyes do look a bit more human than wild but, just the same, I read into them the qualities of puppylike curiosity, tenacity, playfulness and gentleness..”Puppy Love” is yet another beautiful piece of artwork in this A to Z series.

Yessum, I remember Donny’s hit cover of Paul Anka’s “Puppy Love” song, and I agree that the updated version he recorded as an adult is easier on the ears than is his teen voice. As I did yesterday, I will remind you and other readers that there was another “Puppy Love” hit record, an entirely different song recorded by R&B/Soul songstress Barbara Lewis. Early in 1964, Barbara’s single cracked the top 40 on the Pop and R&B charts. If you recall, my blog mascot Toto Moto played this song at Shady’s Place a few years ago:

Thank you very much for the morning mewsic and puppy love, dear friend Cathy. I need to let you know that I will be very LATE getting here tomorrow morning because I have my monthly medical procedure scheduled first thing in the morning. I will come see you as soon as I get home. In the meantime, have a wonderful day!
