Rocktober Music Fest,  Thursday Art Date

Out of this world rock and funk #RMF #TADwR

This is the second annual Roctober Mewsic Festival hosted by Mary from Jingle Jangle Jungle and I’m happy to join along with her in the fun.   I always considered myself a soft rock to middle of the road rock gal but in the last 10 years, I realized that my rock n’ roll roots lean a little heavier and harder than I first thought.  This month, I’m revisiting some of the classic 70s bands that I loved as a preteen/teenager and you’re welcome to come along for the ride.

With the weekend nearing and this being DH’s Friday off then I’m mashing up today’s mewsic with some out of this world rock by the American rock band, Jefferson Starship, billed as soft, hard, or something else followed by some funky R&B with Kool & the Gang. Are you ready to get down? Hit play to enjoy these 70s classic hits.

For my reference, in case YT pulls a video. The playlist includes five songs each by JS and KTG:  Count On Me,  Jane, Runaway, With Your Love, Miracles, Joanna, Hollywood Swinging, Too Hot, Ladies Night, and Hangin’ Out

Change in plans…At the time I began my posts for this month’s RMF, I had no idea that DH would need to use some of his vacation time or risk losing it. That being said, starting this evening I’ll be away from Blogosphere for the most part until bright an early Tuesday morning, Oct. 22nd. This being said, I have all of my posts scheduled and you’ll find new mewsic each morning, except tomorrow,  like clockwork.

I’ve been under the weather much of the weather barely holding things together, but I really wanted to join this week’s Thursday Art Date with Rain for her Horror or Scary prompt and so I’ll leave you with a quick art sketch of my Vampiress.

Clearly, I can’t do scary very well. I wonder the reason I can’t tap into it is that I don’t have much of a dark side? What do you think?

I hope you’ll travel with me back in time on Saturday with another edition of Rocktober Mewsic Fest!

Wonderful setlist, Cathy! I’m going to save it and listen to it again tomorrow if I have a moment. It makes for great background tunes for the day. Sorry to be so slow to make my rounds today (It’s still Thursday at my place.. but barely!) Have a wonderful time away with the hubby.

      Ellen,

I finally got to feeling better toward the end of last week. It was slow getting over that stuff in my head but despite being under the weather, we enjoyed our time together. 🙂

I really enjoyed listening to “Miracles” again.
Thank you for not subjecting us to “We Built This City” in this set.
You are a good person, Cathy… a good person with an imaginary vampiress friend.

      Michael,

You might not think me a ‘good person’ when you find out the reason I didn’t include ‘We Built This City’ is because that’s a song from the 80s. Honestly, I’m not sure if I did not restrict myself if I would’ve included in the playlist. That’s one of Starships’ songs that doesn’t seem to resonate any particular memories for me. So, am I still a good person? lol

    CATHY ~
I’d heard ‘Count On Me’ countless times but I never knew it was Jefferson Airplane. Er… I guess they were a “Starship” by then.

Like John, I’ve never been a Jefferson Airplane fan, BUT(!!)… I have always loved, Loved, LOVED the song ‘MIRACLES’. And, yes, I did know that song was by the “Starship”. And to be honest with you, I really feel I NEEDED to hear that song. So thanks for posting it! I haven’t heard it in ages, but it sure did hit the spot right now, right where I am at this moment today. Thank you!!

      Stephen,

I guess God planted that song in my heart at the right time to share it because He knew you would need it now. 🙂 Whatever you’re going through, God is with you every step, my friend!

I remember the use it or lose your vacation time. At one point we could cash it out, but I never liked that because of the taxes. Enjoy your time with hubby. I know you will.

Love the video and I always love your sketches. You rock.

Have a fabulous day and time with hubby. Love and hugs. ♥

Have fun on your vacation. You are trying really hard to get the scary down but I think you are just too fun loving. This one looks like she is laughing hysterically. 🙂

HI Cathy; I hope you feel better soon, so you can enjoy your time off with DH! Jefferson Starship was a strange offshoot of Jefferson Airplane. Not the same without Grace Slick at the helm. Your vampire looks more seductive than scary; probably just like you! 🙂 You embrace the light, not the dark. Have a fabulous extra-long weekend!

      Debbie,

I’m feeling better overall but the dizziness still lingers a wee bit. Maybe, it’s because I have some congestion still. I’m sure I’ll have a good time despite not be 100%, though. She does look a bit seductive and that’s what I was going for but like me? Well, it’s hard to think that way about myself even when I want to be, you know? You’re right, I do embrace the light even when there’s darkness around me. That’s just the way I’ve always been. Thanks for stopping by, darlin’!

  • Rain Frances

Hi Cathy :)! So happy to see you were able to fit in a sketch!! Your vampiress reminds me of Elvira! She may not look scary but she’s definitely seductive and when she gets you, you’re in for it lol! 🙂 The Jefferson Starship wasn’t really part of my youth but I do remember a few songs…and I remember they often changed their name?

Enjoy your staycation, relax and have fun! See you when you get back! Oh btw, didn’t mention it, the tooth was irreparable sadly. The infection destroyed the roots and it was loose so it had to be extracted. Ugh…I hate that, but at least it can’t hurt me anymore once it’s all healed.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Rain,

I may give my vampiress a second try later on. I’m glad I got I cranked it out for this week, though. That’s too bad about your tooth. You’re right at least it won’t bother you anymore. Will they do an implant or bridge to replace the missing tooth?

      • Rain Frances

That will all depend on my budget I guess! For now, I can’t even think about it!!! I told the dentist I wanted to keep it and wear it around my neck like a trophy lol…he said it was a fun idea, but it was also a bio hazard because of the infection…that kind of shocked me but I guess it makes sense! He said they follow strict procedures to sterilize and dispose of infected teeth! Talk about scary!!
